About Jaxx - bonded with Harold

Are you a sucker for an unlikely “love” story?! Then look no further than this adorable duo! 3 year old Jaxx has been in his foster home for over 8 months now. He is the sweetest boy and gets along with all humans and other kitties. Enter Harold. 6 month old Harold came into the same foster home when he was only about 5 weeks old. Although Harold is a little shy around humans, he quickly bonded with Jaxx. How could he not be drawn to Jaxx’s luscious locks and sweet demeanor? The two have been inseparable over the last 2 months and could even pass as siblings with their adorable black and white markings and black spot on their noses! Jaxx helps Harold to feel more confident and comfortable around people. Their favorite activities include playing, lounging, and eating together. Who’s ready to welcome this sweet pair into their home?

Hi! I’m Autumn. I’m a 1.5 year old, 45lb lab/retriever mix (emphasis on the mix!). I came to Pittsburgh from a crowded shelter in WV after being picked up as a stray. I’m a curious girl who loves exploring my new digs! I love playing tug, doing zoomies, and had so much fun when my little human friend threw my toy for me to chase! I’m also pretty good at walking on a leash. Though I’m very active and like to play a lot, I'm learning how to settle down and take a snooze so my foster mom can get some work done. (As long as I get my walks!) You’ll know when I wake up though, because my tail starts wagging as soon as I open my eyes and see my foster family around me! I learned quickly to potty outside the house and can even ring bells to let you know when I need to go! I tolerate my crate, but prefer to snuggle up in my dog bed, so I will need someone who will be patient with me, continue my training, and is home more often than not. I can be vocal when I get excited (talk about a built-in alarm system!), so a house may be best. I haven’t played with any animal friends up close #onlychildlife, but my shelter friends said I’m good with everyone and everything! (Meet and greets are still recommended.) Do you have room in your heart (and your house) for me? I promise that everytime you come home I'll greet you with tail wags and butt wiggles! Apply for me today! show less

Hi everyone! My name is Bailey and I’m looking for my forever home for the holidays! I came into rescue skinny and scared but I quickly came out of my shell and blossomed into a curious, silly, and sweet pup! I have typical puppy energy but am on the laid back side. I get along great with my 3 foster siblings who range in size from 25lbs to 100lbs. I love to romp around and play but also do great at taking cues from my foster siblings if they want to relax. I LOVE my foster mom and I follow her everywhere. At first I was shy, but now I love to snuggle with my foster mom to end the night! I have been wonderful with all adults I meet but have never met a child. However, I am sweet natured and gentle so I believe I would do well in a home with children! I walk wonderfully on a leash for the most part unless I see something that excites me. I’m sure with a little training and patience I would be an amazing walking partner. I love walks!  I have made great strides in my foster home with being crated. When I first came into rescue I felt very unsettled in my crate and wanted to be out with the rest of my foster family. I have learned the crate isn’t that bad and am mostly content as long as I have a bone or something to keep me occupied. I do wonderfully in my crate at night and always wake up with my crate clean!  I am super smart when it comes to potty training and have had very few accidents in the house! I’m not perfect but I know with a good routine and a little patience I will perfect potty training quickly with my forever family!  I am a sweet, snuggly, smart and silly girl who is learning the joys of life and would love nothing more to find my forever family for the holidays! If you think that’s you, please apply! show less

Reintroducing Lyla (Formerly Biscotti) a 20 month old super sweet cuddly girl with a rough start to life at no fault of her own! Lyla thought she had found her furever home, but she was returned to Paws a few months later. She is looking for a fresh start with someone who will give her the structure, training and the boundaries she needs after having so much inconsistency the first couple years of her life. Lyla absolutely LOVES her humans and will build the strongest bond that will last a lifetime with anyone that shows her kindness (or feeds her). She may come off shy at first but once she feels comfortable, she will give anyone more love than they could ever ask for (no seriously, there are never enough pets and doggie kisses for this lover girl). Lyla is crate trained and potty trained (impressive right?!) She is doing great with her leash training and other commands… Lyla is a people pleaser and is very smart! Lyla does a great job entertaining herself while her foster mom works from home. She lays in her bed without a peep and enjoys some alone time in her crate throughout the day. Lyla loves her toys, bones, car rides and especially playing fetch…she is very fast and athletic! Because Lyla loves her people so much, she can get protective over sharing her human’s attention with other dogs. Though she has done well coexisting with dogs in the past, at this time, Lyla would do best in a single dog home. Are you the one that can give Lyla the love, training, and routine she deserves?!   show less

Meet Carmie! Carmie is a gorgeous 4yr old red and white Border Collie weighing ~35lb. Paws rescued her from a puppy mill where she was about to be disposed. Fortunately, Carmie is loving, enjoys humans, and gets along well with other dogs. Unfortunately, Carmie is on activity restrictions given she tested positive for heartworm. She's received all of her treatment shots but must be on exercise restriction until May 2024 when she can be retested. (A friendly reminder to spend $10/month on heartworm preventatives rather than thousands on treatment and having your best buddy limited with crate rest/activity restrictions for 6+ months.) Carmie's ideal home is one with another dog and with humans that are home more often than not. She experiences separation anxiety, so having an adopter who works part time, works remotely, or is retired would suit her well. She's not had interactions with children or with cats, but we believe her temperament is such that she'd likely be ok with either. Lastly, while she wouldn't be able to enjoy it right away, we also feel Carmie deserves a nice yard to run and play in! The most important thing we are looking for in an adopter is someone who realizes the gift Carmie will be for them but also realizes patience is critical and that Carmie MUST keep to her activity restriction. She will be retested for heartworm again in May 2024, and all related vetting is to be covered by Paws Across Pgh. To help Carmie feel part of the family, her current foster has been having Carmie on a leash tethered to her coffee table if she is not in a crate. This allows Carmie to lay on the couch or floor with a bone or receive cuddles but prevents her from running around and getting her heart rate up. She seems to enjoy this balance and soaks up pets and love. If you are interested in Carmie, please apply today!  show less
