Meet Big Beautiful Billy Billy’s DNA test says he is 75% American Staffordshire Terrier, 12.5% Boxer and 12.5% Hound. He is about 3 years old. Billy did not have a great start to his life, but then he came to AHS for his second chance at a wonderful loving life, the kind he deserves with the right family. He is a very beautiful brindle color that people stop and notice. When people meet Billy they are amazed at just how sweet this big 85 pound boy is. Billy is microchipped and neutered, he gets along good with other dogs but we are not sure about cats. He is good in the house and he is housebroken but please remember like with any new fur member of the family you must show him the ropes, let him know where the door is and let him get acquainted with his new surroundings. You will need to learn HIS signs of letting you know when he has to go out and that, like most things will take patients, commitment and time. Billy is a big boy and he loves to play fetch and will bring it back to you and drop it at your feet but if you wait too long to throw that toy he will jump up and try to get it. That being said I would not recommend that he play fetch with very small children as he is very big and powerful and could possibly knock them over with his excitement. He does sit, lay down and offer either paw on command when he is at home and in a calm environment. He needs some work on that when he is out though as he gets very excited to be out playing. He is a bit nervous about cars that drive by when walking and that may have something to do with his past, he will just need love and trust and work with that so that he knows his new home and family will always keep him safe. He needs some work with his car rides, he does get a bit anxious when he is in the car and will bark. A kennel is recommended for car rides and some work on that. He also needs leash training, he is a big powerful boy and tends to pull on his leash as he does not know any better. He needs someone to teach him the proper way to walk on one. He likes the Costco Signature lamb rice and Veggie food and it seems to do well with him. Once he gets settled in and is comfortable with you if you put his dog bed by your bed he will sleep there and in the morning he may ask to join you for a little morning hug. Because Billy is a HIGHLY ACTIVE boy the best person/couple/family suited for him must also be very active. Long walks, runs, hiking will be very beneficial for him. A fenced yard is required for this boy so he has a place to run when he’s home. Bruno is a beagle mix approximately 5 years old. He is neutered up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped. He weighs approximately 25 lb . He is a special needs boy. He has anxiety about meeting strangers. His perfect home would be, a quiet mature home, with a secure fenced yard, not a lot of socializing with company, a smaller buddy preferably female, and a new momma. Men scare him. His reaction to strangers is to bark. And keep barking til the scarey things go away. The best part of Bruno is that once he is settled in he is a total lovebug. He doesn't just snuggle with you, he is velcro. He looks at you with loving eyes and just wants to be by you. He's extremely strong and quick. He likes to bolt out the door instead of just walking out. He's a unique little guy and is looking for a new mama that will accept him just the way he is. We are Guss and Bugs. We are 3 months old and looking for our forever home, together. We are both grey and white, but enough different to tell who is who. Haha! You can re-name us if you like, we don’t care to come to our names anyway. (We are cats, you know) We are neutered and up to date with all of our medical needs. We are sweet and love to cuddle, and play! We love all ages of people as long as the little ones know how to be gentle. We do fine with pups in the house as well.
