Chubs is a black and white bi-color female who came in w/two other cats.  We were told that her owners were getting divorced and worked together.  They lived in an office and although not totally neglected certainly weren't really taken care of.  Chubs is the most affectionate and loves a nice belly rub and to be brushed.  Chubs (as are her house mates) is a 100% indoor kitty.  show less

Everest came to us as her owner passed away and no one in the family was able to take her in.  She was scared and timid, but she has definitley come around and really just needs a loving and patient owner who will give her time to adjust.  She is better off without younger children as her owner was older.  Everest would love a nice comfy bed, and to know she'll be in a forever home.  She is only about 6 1/2 years old.  ONLY INDOORS/NO DECLAWING.   show less

Gianni came in with 2 siblings (Bello and Nina) from a local Good Samaritan who actually found 7 kittens.  We took in 3 to date.  They were quite scared when they came in, but have come a long way.  Very beautiful, they all have very different personalities and just need a little time to acclimate to new surroundings.  They have always been indoor cactus.  Gianni was always a shy boy but now resides in our free roaming room and loves playing with toys and enjoys freedom.  Beautiful boy and hoping for a forever home.   show less

Jackie Chan came in as a stray with her kitten Pearl.  She was very shy when she first came to us, but she has come around somewhat.  She is still somewhat shy, but with a patient owner she still has love to give....Maybe from a distance at first.  She may also be a good barn cat, but if this was the case, she would need housing 365 days a year and food and water.  She has definitely gotten used to being catered to. show less

Smokey came to the shelter w/Baby and Chubs.  Part of a bad divorce (we were told,) they were not cared for the way they should be.  I think they may have been left to entertain themselves the majority of the time.  Smokey likes to be brushed and pet 9 times out of 10, but sometimes will hiss.  Again, I think it's a matter of trusting new people and knowing that people actually want to spend time w/him and his siblings/house mates.  Again, indoor cats only.   show less

Tico is Taco's brother and we would like them to be adopted together.  Even though they came from a barn setting, they would be perfect for a barn type setting.  However, they need access to housing/barn all year round so they have warmth, food and bedding.  They have become used to human contact and learned to trust.  They will need to acclimate to a new environment so will need to be contained in a new area to know their new home.  They are a little over 6 months of age.  These cats LOVE TEMPTATION cat treats and will eat them out of your hands.  They need a special family that isn't looking for a house cat, BUT still looking for cats that they will care for and love.  show less

Tiffany came to GHS as a stray and was terrified and completely unapproachable.  Rarely seen when she first came, she is now very curious and usually outside her little cat condo.  She is still shy, but she enjoys being talked to and having interactions with people.   She is 1-2 years of age and needs an environment with no children and with someone who has patience and will give her whatever time she needs to readjust to a new environment.   show less

Willow came to us as a kitten and unfortunately tested positive for FIV.  When she first came, all I thought was "this poor crazy feral will be in a cage and go crazy!"  However, over time Willow has learned to trust us and she has evolved.  GHS has been so fortunate over the years that we have placed several incredible healthy FIV cats/kittens.  I'm hopeful that just maybe Willow will be one of those kittens.  If "she" had been a "he," I would have like to name her Eeyore lol.  The deal w/WIllow would be that someone would have to commit to getting to know her, trust her AND she would have to be the only cat.  She has come so far, but will need to learn to trust a new person and that will take time.  show less
