Sept/22 UPDATE: Hello fellow Canadians! I have been living here for a year and a half. My adopter is rehoming me as she wants me to be happy. She sees how wonderfully happy I am when I go to doggy daycare with all my friends and then she also sees how sad I look when I return home. I think I need an adopter with at least one other dog with whom I can play and sniff together. I'm getting excited just thinking about it! My rehoming adopter has no concerns about my behaviours, just my feelings about being the only dog in the household. Hey you other dogs....can you persuade your humans to take in just one more wonderful family member. I promise to reward them with appreciation and smiles! HISTORY: Do you have a quiet home you could share with a timid little dog? A place where I could gain confidence as I get to know what it's like to be loved? My name is Abigail (note: the video's show me as Hanna). I'm a three year old jindo mix of 29lb and 18 inches tall. In March of 2019 I was rescued, along with 64 other dogs, from a dog meat farm in Beolgyo, S.Korea. It was a huge rescue operation conducted by KAWA (Korean Animal Welfare Association), along with 4 other rescue teams. They removed us from cramped wire cages that were open to the wind and rain, where we had been forced to eat food waste and drink putrid water. When I first arrived at the shelter I was very scared and would often spin in circles, a common behaviour seen in animals who have been caged a long time. I still do this, especially when I'm in new situations that make me nervous, but once you start petting me and speak in a gentle voice, I stand still and allow the touching to continue.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dw44nJuPhpw&list=PL3UlJJYID8eE0KqgX-spdT4Cb9EAAy0u9&index=1 When I get to know someone and start to feel comfortable, as I do now with my caretaker, my spinning drastically diminishes.  At first it was tricky to even get the leash on me because I was spinning and the leash would get tangled. Now I know her and will stand still while the leash is attached and will walk confidently with my tail held high, as long as we are in familiar places. Once we venture into new territory I still become nervous though. When I come home with you, please be extra careful not to let go of the leash or I could easily get spooked and run off.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RiGzs-EkYfs&list=PL3UlJJYID8eE0KqgX-spdT4Cb9EAAy0u9&index=9 If you're patient with me you will be rewarded by seeing my affectionate nature reveal itself. Now, with my caretaker I will sometimes nudge her hand to let her know I'd like to be petted please. Around dogs I am far more confident and will happily approach with my tail wagging in invitation to be friends. Once I get to know another dog I love to play and wrestle with them, but if the dog isn't interested then I am quite respectful and will leave them alone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rg4twwXLR2w&list=PL3UlJJYID8eE0KqgX-spdT4Cb9EAAy0u9&index=6 The staff seem to think I showed a little too much interest in the cats outside to recommend I share a home with one. I'm one of those dogs who has noticeable dew claws. They will need to be kept short so that they don't get caught in things. My claws have recently been trimmed and my teeth cleaned, so I'm all ready for my new home.  All I need now is to find one.  I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee of $650 + tax, includes my airfare to Vancouver or Seattle. If you would like to increase the chance of your dog coming sooner (on average within 4 weeks), then the rescuer may be able to find a flight volunteer to Seattle. This will require picking your dog up at the border. You will be asked if you are interested in using the Seattle option upon approval of your application.   Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website,  http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/  and to read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue.  Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.  Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.  Our greatest need is for foster volunteers who have dog experience. We often have foster dogs that require some kind of behavioural training, or have medical needs, so if you have experience in either of these areas please apply now. Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.   What does it cost? As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency What if I can only foster a small dog? We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home. We are always looking for foster homes that can accomodate big dogs. What if I only want to foster a puppy? Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun! What if I want to adopt? If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.  I only want to foster a specific dog. If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found. We really need more experienced foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog. UPDATE:  My name is Akela but my recent adopter has called me Keelan. I am being rehomed because I have a very hard time sharing my human with another dog in the household. I have begun to guard her from the other dog so my human is wanting to rehome me to a new home where I can be the only dog. I also resource guard my food, toys, and bed. When I am not resource guarding, my current foster says that I am energetic, playful, loving, and cuddly. I would love a home with no other pet! PHYSICAL INFO: Whippet/Retriever mix 11 mos old Male Currently 12kg/25lb. May grow to be about 17-20 kg/ 35-40lb when fully grown Highlights: friendly, playful, smart, trainable, no resource guarding issues RESCUE STORY: I was one of two puppies abandoned by my mother. Once we were rescued, we were bottle fed and fostered. Sadly, my sibling didn't make it and I have been left by myself. Despite these hardships, I am a happy puppy. I have a minor skin condition right now which is being treated, but other than that, I'm healthy! My rescuer describes me as friendly and playful, with a lot of puppy energy. I don't have issues with resource guarding and I'm very food motivated which is a great help when it comes to training. Hey, maybe you and I can to go to puppy obedience classes together! I need to be socialized a bit more, as I haven't had many opportunities to interact with other dogs yet. I'm super friendly, but I can get a bit scared of other dogs right now. TEMPERAMENT: ENERGY LEVEL: High GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – YES Dogs – YES, but not living in the same home Cats – UNKNOWN PREY DRIVE: UNKNOWN I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: House trained – unknown – I am still a puppy, please be prepared to help me learn!  Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems! Basic training should be taken seriously and should begin within a day or two of arrival. After your dog has settled in, check out courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you.    HEALTH NOTES: I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. Breed: German Shepherd mix Age: 2 yr Gender: fe, spayed Wgt/Hgt: 55 lbs / 22 inches Energy level: moderate Relations: great with dogs once comfortable with them, good with kids, not good with cats  Highlites: playful, tripaw, joyful, very affectionate, independent, low exercise needs Hi everyone, my name is Annie Oakley. I am a beautiful and very happy girl, but that hasn't always been true for me. I used to live in the Middle East where at the very tender age of eight months I became pregnant. I was much too young to become a mother and all my puppies died. In addition my rear leg had been badly damaged, probably from being hit by a car. In the country I come from, dogs are considered vermin and people often deliberately hit us with their cars in an attempt to kill us. The wounds became badly infected and I was in terrible pain by the time I was finally rescued. The vet I was taken to wasn't able to save my leg and it had to be amputated. Despite this I am very mobile and can easily climb stairs. I can't go on long hikes but normal length walks are perfect for me.  I am a very loving and affectionate girl who has a real love of life. I enjoy the company of other dogs once I trust them and currently live happily with several dogs of all sizes. However, it takes me a few visits for me to feel safe with other dogs. So it is difficult for a potential adopter to take the time I need to get me familiar with their dog. So a home without another dog is best for me. I am happy being the only dog in the home as my true love is people. I have the cutest habit of splaying my front legs out wide when I want you to play with me. And if you pet me and stop and I want some more, I will wrap my front legs around yours to trap you and keep you with me. Adorable, right?  I am a really easy dog to care for, and to love. I very much enjoy being outside so a fenced yard is important to me. Because of my distrust of dogs I don't know, I am reactive to other dogs when walked on leash, so it would be best if I was walked where I won't run into a lot unfamiliar dogs.  A trainer who has worked with me is confident that the more exposure to unfamiliar dogs I get, the more relaxed I will be with them. Unfortunately my foster mom isn't able to give me that exposure as she lives with several dogs on five fenced acres which is where we do our walking and exploring. The good part is that even though I am reactive on walks towards unfamiliar dogs, I can't pull hard on the leash due to my missing rear leg so I am easy to control.  While I am a joyful soul, I am not at all hyper or high energy. At home, I am very calm and relaxed. My favourite thing to do is lie on my bed, chewing on a marrow bone or a chew stick. There is no way you could be unhappy with me around.  I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $700 plus applicable taxes* Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordatella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. show less

UPDATE:  I am a young dog who is so very happy to have now arrived in Canada. I am being rehomed because of other life matters linked with my adopter. I am a romantic who loves to have a cuddly relationship with my humans. In my past, I must have been scared by other dogs so I can be a bit nervous when seeing other dogs on walks but in my new neighborhood with my foster, I am quickly becoming accustomed to feeling more confident around other dogs. I am living with a large 8 year old female shepherd cross and she and I make a marvelous team. It only took me a few hours to see that she respects me and from then on, we became a pack.  I am a bit chatty I'm told but with a bit of help from my new adopter, I'm sure I can learn to be a bit quieter. I hardly make a sound when there's a human at home with me. I love walks in nature and I'm actually incredibly good on a leash. Pleeeease come to meet me! I am looking forward to helping my new adopting family see what a great dog I am. After all, I'm really still a puppy so I have so much potential to learn and to share my joy of life with you. HISTORY: My name is ANTAR and here is a little info about me: Breed: Canaan Dog/German Shepard mix Age: 1 yr Gender: male Weight: 22.5 kg Height: 55 cm My rescuer saved me when some kids were hanging me by my neck from a tree. I was dying when they got to me. There is very little respect for dogs in Egypt, where I currently live. My name means Hero in arabic. Though I'm not really brave, I think my rescuers believe I am a hero to have endured the abuses I did and still be such a super sweet, adorable boy. I tend toward the easy going attitude. They say I am the sweetest they have ever had, in fact. In the beginning, I was so afraid of people, but after a few months I started becoming more & more friendly. While still just a bit leary at first with new people, I warm up pretty quickly. https://youtu.be/xRpvvyo5KD0. You will find I am good with everyone, including cats. I am never bossy. I don't bark or growl at other dogs, even when they get on top of me or growl at me or get up in my face https://youtu.be/6UMjd-cUTng. I will just walk away. I'm a lover and prefer not to fuss. https://youtu.be/qnEFvNE-xH0. I am good hearted and good natured, so like to play https://youtu.be/2EECo_jTNWE. I treat everyone nice. I'm a lovely soul with emotional sensitivity, full of love. Beautiful inside & out. https://youtu.be/Hq7FTZlpKjI. I enjoy playing... cat, human, dog, doesn't matter to me, whoever wants to join the fun. I haven't yet been introduced to toys. I play with the other dogs and cats though. I listen well to commands and if you tell me to stop, I will stop doing something. Yup, I am not stubborn and won't try to impose my will. Energy level: Moderate I get along with: Dogs: yes Cats: yes Kids: unknown, though quite likely Prey drive: none observed. I had been hit by a car and was left to die on the side of the road. Thankfully My Good Samaritan took me to the vet, however it was too late for saving my back legs.I love other dogs, but not the greatest fan of cats and better not around kids. Best a home free of those for my future. It would be terrific if I could have a little grassy yard to play in. I am capable of walking on my two front legs for many, many miles. Found in the West Bank/Israel when I was a just a few months old, my rescuer said I was skinny & small, looking for food in a trash container. She set out food & water for me and other dogs in the area. Then one night, she saw me alone and scared. I had a plastic bag wrapped around my abdomen. So she caught me and took me to her home, where I was cared for. Now I am healthy and awaiting a home. My rescuer says I sm a calm pup, who is alert and clever. Now I am looking for a permanent home where I can give love to a family and be loved in return. I hear Canada is the place to be. I get along with other dogs. Never been around meowies yet though. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if a dog has been determined to be good with children we will approve applicants with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website. show less

My name is Atish (Lucia) and here is some information about me. Breed: Anatolian Shepherd mix Age: 5 years Gender: Female Weight: 34 kg Height: 65cm Shoulder width: 25cm Please, please consider adopting me, so I can leave the Middle East straight away. I’m a lovely girl, but I’ve had some hard times over the past years. I was probably born on the streets, but nobody really knows. Somehow my hip was fractured when I was one year old, and a kind person took me to the vet for surgery. Afterwards, I was taken to a boarding house for dogs. For a time, I felt safe, but then I was told that I would be spayed and released back onto those scary streets again. Luckily, a LALDR supporter in the Middle East found out about my situation and helped me to stay off the streets.  Unfortunately, I needed more surgery for a bowel torsion where I lost a lot of blood and needed a transfusion. I almost died , but I was not ready to give up. To keep me safe, I was moved between shelters and boarding houses. As my nutrition was not great, I developed anemia for a while. Once I was moved to a better place, and given the right nutrition, I recovered quickly. Now, after all I have been through, I am very healthy and looking for my forever home. Although my life has been challenging, my rescuers say I am a kind and loving dog. I tend to be calm and not too excitable. I get on with other dogs and have not been reactive towards cats. I have shown no aggression or food guarding.   I enjoy getting attention from both men and women especially if I get lots of pets - they are the best!! I’m told I get on well with little people too.    I’m hoping you can see what a wonderful companion I would be. I have so much resilience and just need to be in a stable home surrounded by people who love me. Please take a chance on me ❤️ Energy Level: medium I get along with: Dogs: yes Cats: yes Kids: yes - but no video to show you yet.  Prey drive: None observed. Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition Training: some Leash skills:  I am getting used to wearing a collar and leash in my own environment, however I get unsure when I leave my safe place. I will refuse to walk. I just need help to feel comfortable in new places. House trained: No. Please be prepared to help me learn! Health notes: Scar on forehead I have been spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. Please Note: LALDR highly encourages adopters to research some local dog trainers before their dog arrives. Although a 1-on-1 trainer is often not needed, it is good to have someone in mind in case any problematic behaviours arise. Most bad behaviours can be modified if caught early enough, so make sure to nip undesirable behaviours in the bud before they become serious problems. Basic training should be taken seriously but should not begin until your dog is well settled in - at least a couple of weeks. After you feel your new dog is relaxed and comfortable in their new home check out training courses in your local area. Even basic beginner courses like those taught at a local pet store can have a huge benefit in helping your dog learn to socialize and get used to being in public situations, all with the added benefit of strengthening their bond with you. While most dogs find escorting passengers flying directly to Vancouver, some will find flights through Toronto or  Montreal. In that case, additional fees will apply to fly your dog to Vancouver by cargo. Unaccompanied cargo costs within Canada range from $350 - $550 depending on the size of the dog. LALDR will be as transparent as possible with you regarding these costs. Disclaimer: It is important for all applicants to visit our website, http://www.lovedatlastdogrescue.ca/adopting/ and read about Loved at Last Dog Rescue. Information included in the profile is provided to us from the international rescuer or local fosters. LALDR does not have access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person adopting them and the environment in which they live. The age and breed of a dog is usually an educated guess, so we are not able to guarantee the accuracy of age or breed of our dogs. Normally, we will not approve adoptions to homes with children under 12 years of age. However if the dog is shown to be good with children we will approve homes with children 8 years or older. More information can be found on our website.  [MID EAST DOGS] *Vaccinations: Dogs from the Middle East are vaccinated for rabies, parvo, distemper, leptospirosis, adenovirus type 1 and para-influenza. Bordetella is not given, as that has not been a problem in the Middle East. show less

Hi there. My name is Bardy (Body, as in bodyguard) and here is a little info about me: Breed: Anatolian Shepherd mix Age: 2 years Gender: female Weight: 66 lbs Height: 25 inches UPDATE: I am waiting for you in Portland, OR. I can still be adopted in Canada or WA. Once upon a time there was this kind woman who used to feed stray dogs like me on a regular basis. I knew this person was my ticket to a better life, so I began to follow her car, running as fast as I could to keep up. I made it my job to be her bodyguard from there on and always found her when she came. I became a bit of an Instagram star for a video of me galloping beside her moving vehicle. This claim to fame worked: The rescue agency sought me out and took me into their care. It’s a good thing that they did. When I was finally scooped off the streets I was in poor condition. I had to have a tooth removed https://youtu.be/oE3Cow2GrtE, my rescuer made sure to check on me https://youtu.be/E5UIpv4Rbko, https://youtu.be/PgjgG3m-7YQ. Fortunately, I’ve had good veterinary care and lots of love since then. Now I just need to find my happily ever after in Canada. Can you make my dreams come true? As my rescue story shows, I will stop at nothing to be with my people. https://youtu.be/yVCukYTOvk8. This includes jumping fences. Yaaaah, escape artist, but it's only because I want to be with you, not because I want to run away. Please ensure you can spend a lot of time with me and have a secure yard where I can be outside with you. I would love to become your lifelong companion. I am an expert cuddler. I love hugs and can be in your arms for hours and it still wouldn't be enough. While I have never lived with children, those I have been around are A-ok in my book, mini-hoomans, they give love too.  My rescuer just visited with me and said: Ahat a loving dog I am. That I love people and am great with strangers and kids. Energy Level: moderate I get along with: Dogs - yes Cats - unknown Kids - yes Prey drive: None observed. My adopter needs to be willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. Fears: not observed. Training: none Leash skills: No... Please be prepared to train me. House trained: No. Please be prepared to help me learn!  Health notes: I was treated for TVT and am fine now. Part of my tail is missing I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is 750.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. My name is BARKIMEDES (Ben) and here is a little info about me: Breed: Shepard mix Age: 11 months Gender: male Weight: 25 kg Height: tbd Highlight(s): quiet, curious, enjoys treats, listens well, cuddly Don't let the name fool you, I'm not a barker, but I am a thinker.  You will find I am a curious little guy, who is quiet and loves to give and get attention. I am food motivated and quite smart, so should learn very quickly. You can see by my beautifully innocent little face that I am a sugarpie. Me, as a puppy: https://youtu.be/s8N26eeoiUw. Cute, hunh? My rescuer's daughter found me on the sidewalk, dehydrated and unconscious, in the Middle East. People were passing by and no one paid any attenion to me. How awful, right? My saving angel checked on though me. She asked the businesses in the area if I belonged to anyone. They said that my mom was taken by the city employees a few days before to be killed. My rescuer had to carry me home, because taxis wouldn't take her, because she had a dog. Callous, hunh? I had a checkup with the vet and IV Therapy for few days. This gave me my strength back. After all that, I eat well. And I am a cuddly bug. Bet you didn't see that coming. Heeheee. Hope we can blend into one another for snuggles. Aren't I just adorable in the little bed? https://youtu.be/8-XRneeSPgA. I would love to have another friend in the home, as I love to play. But, if I can meet other friends, that is cool too. I would likely be good with kitties too. I have learned to walk on a leash within the house, as it is illegal to walk a dog in my country. Here's my story: https://youtu.be/RV--_YbUuks Energy Level: moderate I get along with: Dogs: yes Cats: unknown Kids: unknown Fears: unknown/none observed. Please be patient assisting me in my transition. Training: a bit. Know some commands, leash walk in house Leash skills: some. Please be prepared to continue training. House trained: peepad trained (bathroom). Please be prepared to help me learn where to go in my new home. Health notes: I have been spayed/neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. Hi lovely Canadians! My name is BEEBI (Bibi) and here is some info about me: Breed: Shitzu mix Age: 4.5 years Gender: Female Weight: 6.5 kg Height: 36 cm Bonded with Meemi My name means queen in my language. I was rescued from a horrible puppy mill in the Middle East, by a group of rescuers who originally came to rescue my daughter. She was not being sold due to a deformity she has in her right paw. One of her paws is slightly shorter than the other. After she was rescued and taken away from me, I had seizures from the stress and trauma of being separated from her. The rescuers also found out that I was being injected with hormones to produce more puppies, even though I was still breast-feeding. That could have brought on the seizures. These wonderful folks stepped in and decided to buy me from the puppy mill, so I could be reunited with my daughter, Meemi (also posted.) The first week I was rescued I had a lot of vaginal bleeding and my vision problem was pretty bad. This was likely due to probable abuse at the puppy mill. After four months of being fostered in a home, my bleeding and seizures stopped completely. So no problem since about June. I play with my daughter regularly and hope to be homed with her. We are very dependent on one another. Another reason the rescue rushed to rescue me, was because my baby, Meemi, was crying constantly after being rescued because she missed me. Thank heavens for the sweet lady who reunited us! I am currently staying at a house with three big dogs. I get along with the dogs very well and play with them regularly. https://youtu.be/vSVKO4lDGJc,  https://youtu.be/BBQdHeJlthY. I also get along with kids and women. I can be shy with some people. I even get along with cats, I want to play chase with them: https://youtu.be/LoAgaNso_lg. Mostly I hang out with my daughter and protect her, but she doesn’t need much protection anymore. She isn’t scared of anything! You'll find me eager to please though. I want to make you happy. My daughter and I will provide you plenty of entertainment watching us play. I can also be a curious girl, who will check out what things are going on around me. Energy level: moderate to low Get along with: Dogs: yes Cats: Yes Kids: Yes Prey Drive: none to low I react well to cats and small animals. I only want to play with them because they are very close to my size. I sometimes just chase cats to play with them. See the video. Fears: I am getting better with men, but I used to have a severe fear of them. Now I am much better. Some men I love, others I bark at... no idea why. Training: I know how to sit. Leash skills: no. Will need patient training. House trained: yes. Be prepared to help me learn where to go at my new home. Health notes: I have no health issues. When I was first separated from my baby I would occasionally get seizures from being so stressed and under trauma, but I have not had one since (Date.) I have a slight vision problem in one of my eyes, but it does not hinder me from living a normal life. I have been spayed/neutered, *vaccinated & micro-chipped. Our adoption fee is $1450.00 CAD + applicable taxes for both of us. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver.
