Abbott has an absolute blast digging in the dirt. He is not as outgoing as his brother Costello but is just as sweet. Scanning the pets for sale section of Craigslist, an ad was seen "Rabbits for Stew".  This made their rescuer jump into action.  When they arrived there were 30 rabbits in a box and the person wanted $60.00 per rabbit.  Making a bulk purchase, they were able to get a discount and saved 5 rabbits.  They kept 2 males as they had bonded with them and this lovely was brought to SBRR to find her a home where she will never be anything but a part of the family.  Super sweet, you would never know that she had never been handled until now. New Zealand rabbits were not originally bred to be a domestic pet but because of their docility and good health they have become an excellent addition to any family. Blooper was a stray that was captured by a wonderful couple that cared for her and kept her safe.  Day 31 of her life of riley she gave birth to a litter of kits.  Now they were out of their element and reached out to SBRR for help.  Blooper and her kits joined our family and they thrived.  All of the kits have been adopted and it is not Bloopers turn to find her forever home. This rabbit is currently not spayed/neutered. The Dutch Rabbit is in general a calm, easy-going rabbit. They make a good domestic pet, are friendly and are easy to train.  These rabbits began their life being born and running free in a back yard.  We want a much safer and healthier life for them as indoor pets and part of a family. We are thankful that they joined SBRR when they did so they could have their babies within the safety of a home. This rabbit is currently not spayed/neuterd. Back story: This bunny comes from one of the stories that you can't even imagine unless you witness it.  SBRR received a call from a concerned daughter.  She said her mom had some rabbits and that she needed help as she was overhelmed.  When we asked about how many rabbits, we were told about 20.  She said the rabbits were dying and she didn't know why.  We agreed to go access the situation and see if we could make some recommendations.  We were not ready for what we witnessed.  Over 100 rabbits living in colony's on concrete, in colony's in barns, in cages with chickens and just running loose everywhere.  Right there and then we decided our 1st priority was to get the healthy babies out so they could be socialized and adopted.  There were newborns, 1 and 2 days old.  The last few litters were being killed by the other rabbits.  As we have the famous Mary Poppins, we knew she would take those as her own too.  The bucks were isolated and were tearing each other apart.  The does were doing the same thing.  One step at a time and we are going to get this under control.  They were fed and watered and their areas were clean, but you just can't keep that many unaltered rabbits together. She is getting used to being handled and is going to need a very special kind and patient person to help her understand that her past is behind her and she has only a bright future ahead.  We named her Blythe which means happy and carefree. That is what we want for her future. show less

Bosc was found wandering a mobile home park. We were told that a family moved and left their bunnies to run free. This of course led to the buns multiplying and before you could blink there were rabbits everywhere. Many were being hit by cars or killed by wildlife. One resident reached out to us for help and so we went to work rescuing as many as we could to get them out of harms way, provide medical help and find them good homes. After many long nights capturing buns, residents started to report that they were no longer seeing rabbits. Bosc is a sweetheart. His fur was very sun bleached when he came in, but a healthy new coat replaced it. He lets you pick him up, is litter box trained and ok with dogs, cats and kids. Come meet him and fall in love like we have! This rabbit is currently not spayed/neutered.  However, should you decided to meet and adopt, the rabbit will be spayed/neutered prior to going home.  Adoption donation includes spay/neuter and micro chip registration to the new pet parent. show less
