This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.  Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.  If you are looking to make a difference in a dogs life for a short period of time, please apply now.  What is fostering? Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.   What does it cost? As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency What if I can only foster a small dog? We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home.  What if I only want to foster a puppy? Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun! What if I want to adopt? If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.  I only want to foster a specific dog. If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found. We really need more foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog. Due to current travel restrictions there may be a long delay before I can get to you. Please only apply for me if you are willing to wait. Hi sweet hoomans, my name is Akela. I appear to be a 1.5 year old saluki mix. I’m a petite 32 lbs and stand about 58cm tall (from the ground to my head). I’m a sweet, courageous girl who’s overcome a lot in my little life so far. Although I'm technically a “special needs” doggy, my ongoing disability is minimal and I will no doubt live a very full life! My injuries were substantial at the beginning, but luckily my foster mama has patiently nursed me back to health after my multiple surgeries and now I’m almost as good as new! All I need is a little bootie on my back foot and then I can run and play like all the other dogg-o’s. Around the doggy community of Bahrain, I am known as the "miracle pup" because I've defied all the odds!   My story? I was intentionally hit by a car while I was a stray on the streets of Bahrain. Unfortunately, these kind of "accidents" happen all too often here. An eye-witness to the hit-and-run called BARC (Bahrain Animal Rescue Centre) and they came to my rescue. Unfortunately, only 1 vet was willing to take me in and I ended up receiving abismal care and was in terrible shape. BARC intervened and took me to another hospital where they took much better care of me.  My medical history: After being taken to a proper hospital, I underwent surgery for a pelvic and femoral fixation. I have a metal plate and screws that stabilize my pelvis on one side and my femur on the other. I do have some remaining nerve damage that prevents me from being able to put my back paw flat on the ground (I put my knuckles down instead). I ended up with some abrasians on my knuckles from dragging them, so that's why I need to wear my little bootie now.   My recovery: After my surgeries, I couldn't get up or walk on my own. All the vets said I would never walk again. I have had a looong road to recovery, starting with just a few wobbly steps (https://youtu.be/MaISHQooOE8) but look at me now! See? Miracle Pup! I am now perfectly mobile, I can run and play like all the other dogs- just with a wee bit of a hop in my step.  Check out the difference in how I used to walk to how I can run around like a normal pooch now! (https://youtu.be/9sYuafBq_nk) Ongoing care: Although the majority of my medical expenses have already been covered here in Bahrain (surgery, rehab etc.), I will need to find a family who is willing and financially able to take me for regular vet visits. I may occasionally need to get X-rays done to check on my post-surgical recovery, so that is a financial cost any adopters need to consider before applying to adopt me. My bootie is essential, so my adopters will need to make sure I receive tip-top care in that aspect (taking the boot off to air my paw out, making sure my paw stays dry etc.). I should probably take some supplements (glucosomine etc.) to keep me healthy and strong, and I have been flourishing on a raw food diet-- so hopefully my adopters can continue with that. Basically just provide me with tons of love and wee bit of extra care! I'll repay you with my endless cuddles and unconditional love! Sounds like a pretty good deal, right? My ideal home: Just like all young dogg-o's, I love to run, play, and go on adventures. As long as I wear my boot, I can adventure just like all the other dogs. What can I say, I’m a stylish pup that can’t go out without my Jimmy-Chew shoe on my back paw! I get along really well with other dogs! If there are other doggies living in my home, we need to make sure they are relatively gentle because I am still a bit fragile (so can't be toppled over or body-slammed by another pup). I love hoomans too! Once I learn to trust new hoomans, I love to be petted gently and ohhh how I love the cuddles! I'm looking for a home FILLED with love. I'm a good girl on car rides and I am a total sucker for some fluffy blankets and squeaky toys. I am currently living in a foster home with my foster mama and she takes great care of me. She loves me so much and she would keep me if she could— but she’s already got 7 other dogs! Guess what, my Foster Pops even wants to help pay for me to come to Canada— isn’t that amazing?? Think you could make some space in your house and your heart for a sweetie pie like me?  I am spayed, vaccinated, and micro-chipped. This cost is quite high and typically ranges from $2500-$2800 per dog. **NOTE: AKELA has a sponsor in Bahrain who would like to contribute to her Cargo travel costs** PLEASE NOTE: There is no expectation for the adopter to pay any more than the adoption fee itself. We simply provide these as options in case an adopter wishes to receive their dog sooner than it would take to fly their dog to Vancouver with a flight volunteer. I am Alexi. If you're in the Seattle / greater Seattle area, please keep reading! If you have a big heart and love cuddles, I could be the one for you!  I am a cute terrier mix and maybe Berger Picard (around 10kg and 3.5 years old) and if you take a look into my deep brown eyes and my large muppet ears, you might quickly fall in love. We are looking to keep me in the Seattle / North Seattle area, as I'm really bonded to my foster Mom, and would need a slow transition. Also, you could think of adopting me as possibly a part time share, my foster Mom would like to stay in my life, help out and dog sit, if that would be okay with you. I was found by some kind people in an abandoned building, paralyzed in all four of my limbs. - Trust me, I'm a survivor!  The good news - I am now in a loving foster home, just North of Seattle, and have had an MRI. My c5-c6 is injured, which has caused paralysis in my four limbs. My foster mama has done a tremendous amount of work with me to make me stronger.  At this point I can not sit, stand or walk by myself and my bladder gets expressed about 4 times a day. I don't wear diapers, and I have a normal 2x daily bowel movement. I'm one of the few paralyzed dogs that doesn't need to wear diapers! Since the time I've been in foster care, my whole body has become stronger. Six months after I arrived here, my back legs started to "wake up," it was amazing! I now go on daily walks / tows in my cart (see my videos, or check out my IG account). Once my cart starts to get pulled in a forward motion, my rear legs follow (most days, though I do have stubborn days too). Currently I walk 1/4-1/2 a mile daily, sometimes more! I can't steer very well, because of my injury I tend to go left quite often. I move my front shoulders, but my front paws haven't woke up. My days consist of cart walks, park visits, exercises, cuddles and snoozing. Once I get my walk, I'm usually ready for cuddles and a nap. I know it will take a special person to give me a forever home, but I believe this world is full of special people. I already found one of them and she's my foster mom. If dreams come true, my next special person is reading this right now and lives close to my foster family! I'd love a family who has a nice doggy friend for me, and someone who is home often. I like to be around my humans, in the same room, and outside on adventures. My forever human should be physically fit and will continue my care.  If you live near me, my current Mama will go through my routines with you, including my favorite places to visit.  I live with two cats, sometimes I'm not bothered by them, but sometimes I growl and bark (can you blame me, I am part terrier). I'd prefer a home without small children, and any older children need to be kind, gentle and patient. Once I know you, and you sit and give me treats for a couple of minutes I earn your trust. When I'm out on my walks in my cart, I very rarely bark, though I will do a high pitch happy bark when I see a dog that peeks my interest! I would thrive to be in a home with another gentle and playful dog. Having another loving dog around really has helped my motivation and my happiness. I am also not neutered and need to stay that way. I need my hormones to help me get stronger.  I know it will take a special person to give me a forever home, but I believe you are out there somewhere and when we find each other both our lives will grow bigger with love. Atom Ant (Alex) Breed: Pointer/Saluki mix Age: 2 years Wgt/hgt: 44 lbs/ 19-3/4 inches Gender: M, will remain intact Relations: Good with dogs/ unknown cats & kids Activity level: Moderate for cart dog Highlights: Rear disabled, sweet, good with other dogs Region: Middle East I am a very sweet, young boy who was in dire need, as my shelter was closing down. Thankfully, a lovely person in Canada has offered to foster me, so I have been taken in by my rescuer until I can get a flight there. I was found with all my legs tied up with a rope and run over by a car. I endured hellish pain. Some rescuers stepped in and I underwent severe surgery enduring pain and hardship for several months, but I was still able to recover. So, I was kept at a place after surgery, but because of improper care, I was hospitalized. I was then taken to my current shelter. It is extremely difficult to find homes for able bodies dogs, let alone one paralyzed. If a place for me had not been found, they feared they would have to euthanize me. Such a shame after so much was done to save me. Now, I have a chance at a new life. Though alas, I am paralyzed forever and can never play like other dogs... I have so much love to give and cuteness of personality to show you. You may think it may be sad for me to be disabled, but it is just the way my life is and I enjoy being alive and able to share my love of life with others. LALDR will provide a cart for me once I am in my new home, so I can learn to zip around like Lightning McQueen, Mario Andretti, Speedy Gonzales, Usain Bolt... Hahaa. I have no issues with other dogs and although I haven't been around cats, it might be hard for me to go after them. I also haven't been around children yet. I can survey everything around that way. I am sweet, but independent. So, putting me up onto a perch is fun times. Rescuers found me in the mountains. I was left by my mama due to a birth defect in my rear leg. So, I have a disability that will likely require some sort of brace or perhaps a wheelchair. More will need to be determined when I reach Canada, as the vets in the Middle East said any further treatment should wait until I am fully grown. So, I will need future medical care. I am not in any obvious pain, but it will be best to help protect my spine/body for the future to be able to have the ability to walk more evenly. Dogs don't really seem to bother me, I don't approach them, but I am not really scared of them either. I do fine with other kitties, but have never been around children. I like things on my own terms, so don't really like to be picked up or hugged...yet. I bet that will change once I realize how nice it truly is to be scratched and pampered. My adoption fee is $250.00 CAD + applicable taxes. This includes my transportation to Canada, if I am able to be accompanied by a flight volunteer directly to Vancouver. I’m Cash, a 9-month old saluki/shepherd mix from Bahrain. I’m ___ lbs and stand ___ tall (info coming soon!!). I'm still a growing pup and will most likely be a large dog when fully grown (45 lb estimate). Check out my adorable ears... OMG! Me and my bro, Tango, were rescued when we were 10 days old. Our mama had been hit by a car and we weren’t going to survive on the streets for long without her. Luckily, some kind souls picked us up and took us to the BARC shelter. We are now living in a foster home with our foster pops and he takes great care of us. Guess what, Foster Pops even wants to help pay for us to come to Canada— isn’t that amazing??  Seeing as I’ve been living in a house with 7 other dogs, I’m very well socialized and am great with other doggies. Not a fan of kitty cats though, so I’d like a feline-free home please! Being a young lad, I can still be pretty bouncy and rambunctious, so probably best for me to go to a home without young children who could get knocked down during my Zoomies. He is neutered and housebroken, but needs his shots/vaccines updated. He is very good at taking food and treats, and will give a bark to let you know it's mealtime. He is very loyal and thinks he's a lapdog - he loves to cuddle. He loves the snow, and loves to play with toys, but can chew through them very quickly. He is so sweet and loves children. Chapo needs to be in a household and area without dogs, as he is very dog aggressive and will chase after them, no matter if he sees them in the street, through the window or through the fence. He needs to have a backyard with a very high border, as he can almost jump over 6' fences. He needs a calm, experienced owner who can give him the training and attention he needs to get over his dog aggression. They will make you slow down and take notice. I am a very kind and smart pup, though I am a bit shy yet. Just give me a little time and I should be A-ok to mingle though Me and my siblings (Domino & Donegal) were found in the street when we were young puppies. Our mama died of an infection, so our rescuer made sure we would be safe. We are with her mother right now, but can only stay a limited time. We will have to go to a shelter soon, if we don't find homes. I should be around 65 lbs and perhaps 22 inches or so tall when full grown. There is a kitty in our current home, so we are fine with a cat. Although I haven't been around children yet, I am a young puppy still, so capable of learning to live with them. I do have a bit of a sensitive stomach to some foods, like eggs. They will make me sick or I don't digest them as well. I could probably use some pre & probiotics to help with this. Also, I don't like feeling hungry, so may need a few smaller meals rather than a couple big ones. It would be nice to be able to go out and play like normal puppies, but sadly it isn't safe here in our country for us to do that. I am an absolute gentleman, who is quite kind hearted. I can be nervous at first, meeting new people is scary some times, but with some time, love and treats I will become your new best friend. Me and my siblings (Denali & Domino) were found in the street when we were young puppies. Our mama died of an infection, so our rescuer made sure we would be safe. We are with our rescuer's mother right now, but can only stay a limited time. We will have to go to a shelter soon, if we don't find homes. I should be around 65 lbs and perhaps 22 inches or so tall when full grown. There is a kitty in our current home, so we are fine with a cat. Although I haven't been around children yet, I am a young puppy still, so capable of learning to live with them. It would be nice to be able to go out and play like normal puppies, but sadly it isn't safe here in our country for us to do that. A moderate to chilled out home would be mighty fine with me. Being a puppy, I like to romp around, but I really enjoy just hangin' out and getting belly scratches, chomping on a toy & watching things around me. You know, the suave, sophisticated, observant James Bond type. Wink. Another doggie friend would be great. I have my sisters to play with right now, but it would be awesome to have a bud there too. So, what do you want to do first? Go to the beach? Snowshoeing? Bet I could learn to ski-jor. Maybe we could go for a nice country drive and take in the sights... well, the smells for me. Maybe a relaxing hike into the woods or maybe we could just take a snooze together watching a movie. Whatever we do, let's get moving down the highway on it, shall we? Calling all lovers of stocky, crinkly-faced pitties: I need you! I'm a 3 year old, 55lb, ball of love with nobody to call my own. My owner surrendered me and my puppies when she was no longer able to care for us. Since then, all of my pups have been adopted, but I'm still waiting.  I was such a good mom and I still get along well with my puppies, even though they are as big as me now. Check out the photo's of me with the family that adopted two of my pups. Sadly, they didn't have room to take me as well, even though the kids loved to cuddle me and I, being the patient soul that I am, tolerated their attentions willingly.  After visiting them all I have to come back to the shelter and spend my lonely nights wondering when it's going to be my turn to find a family.  Since I am selective about my dog friends I would prefer to be the only dog in a home, but I'm playful and affectionate and would love to be your special one.  I'm the kind of dog who enjoys walks and outdoor activities, but can easily settle down for a long nap once we get back home.  A little bit of snuggling, some silly times, another little walk and then more cuddles with you - that's my idea of a perfect day.  Right now it may be just a dream, but if I'm lucky, perhaps it will all come true.  Fingers crossed!   I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Howdy.  My name is Furby and I come from Texas. I am a sweet Australian Shepherd who is 12 years young and weighs 63lb. So I guess y'all want to know a little more about me. For 12 years I was basically a lawn ornament.  My owner never showed me any love and I sat outside in the heat and cold, neglected and lonely and with an infected eye.  Eventually, my owner was sent to jail and I ended up in a shelter.  Because my eye had never been treated, the infection had become so severe that the eye had to be removed. It feels way better now!  The good news is that I now have a chance to find a real home with someone will show me what it's like to be loved. I would enjoy being part of a human family who will let me snuggle on a soft bed or a warm couch. One of my favourite things is to stretch out and be brushed - it would make me so happy if my person enjoyed that as much as I do. I have a moderate amount of energy and would really enjoy going for walks along the beach or through the forest. Maybe I'll get my first experience of snow up there in Canada!  If you have children or other dogs in the home, that's O.K with me. I'm a gentle dog and can be a little playful at times too.  Did I mention how I love to be brushed? It makes me feel so special.
