About Monty

Adoption Fee: $85.00

This sweet boy is Monty - he is quite an usual looking mixed breed.  From the neck up, he looks like a rottweiler.  From the neck down, he looks like a basset hound.  Does that make him a Bassetweiler?  A Rotthound?  Who knows?  But what we can tell you is this guy has personality plus.  He is fun and goofy and affectionate, everyone who meets him loves him.  He has a lot of energy and needs an active home.  He loves kids (but can play a little rough) and he is good with submissive dogs but he has never been around cats.  Monty is up to date with shots, neutered, negative for heartworms/on prevention and crate trained.  To make Monty your forever dog, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org

Adoption fee is $85 which includes veterinary care

we prescreen all applicants prior to a meeting.  To be screened, you may submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org

They call me Grayson.  Everyone who sees me says "OMG, what a beautiful cat!  Don't they know I am an alpha male?  I am Handsome, and I know it. When we first meet, I may be a little nonchalant.  But, if I like you, I just might sit next to you or, if I really like you, I’ll sit on your lap and allow you to massage me.  I know what you’ll say when you touch me, "His fur is so luxurious".  I take very good care of my appearance.  There’s a lot of pressure when your only outfit is a velvet, gray tuxedo. My friend, Oscar, is my best bud.  We’d like to stay together, if possible.  As I said, I’m an alpha male.  He’s not.  So he lets me be the boss. Sometimes, I get very scared and I act crazy.  The first time I went inside, I freaked out and went berserk.  But, now, I love being inside where it is safe and clean and my paws stay much cleaner using a litterbox than digging in the dirt. Although I may take a little time to trust you, I am a very loving, gentle companion.  If you don’t have any other pets, Oscar and I would love to be a part of your family. I am FIV+, but don't let that scare you - I can live safely with spayed/neutered, FIV- cats inside without any problems. Ask my adoption screener and she can give you all the information you need. You can also Google FIV+ cats and learn about us. We are awesome cats!! Seriously? Do I look unhealthy? Do I look like a cat that fights? Of course not!!  I can't wait to meet you!!  show less

This awesome boy is Ice Cube - an American bulldog/boxer blend around 1-2 years old.  He was picked up shivering to death in the cold by animal control and not reclaimed.  It has taken us some time to nurse Ice Cube back to health.   He was so skinny, his back was protruding and you could see everyone of his ribs.  He had also lost almost all of his fur due to mange and fleas.  After months of TLC, we are thrilled to report that he is now healthy and ready to be adopted!  After everything he has been through, you would assume he would be leary of people but he is quite the opposite.  He loves people and he is happiest when someone hugs him and gives him tons of affection.  He would be great for a home with kids he could play with -he likes to be where ever the people are.  He is good with submissive dogs -he would not do well with a dominant male or another dog that is unruly or territorial.  He would not start an altercation but he will not allow himself to be picked on and would defend himself if he thought he needed; he is untested with cats.  He is very smart and learns commands easily.  He is up to date with shots, neutered, negative for heartworms/on prevention and crate trained.  If you would like to give Ice Cube the forever home he deserves, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org Adoption fee is $85 and includes all veterinary care We prescreen all applicants prior to a meeting.  To be screened, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org We do allow out of state adoptions however, we do not ship nor transport sight unseen pets for many reasons.  We require travel in person adoption. show less

This handsome guy is King, a boxer/mastiff mix around a year old.  He and 7 other dogs (including Precious who is also up for adoption) were confiscated by animal control for cruelty and neglect.  They were all living on short chains with no access to water or shelter and they were only being fed sporadically.  We have "before" pictures of him -he was nothing but skin and bones, filthy dirty and full of hook worms and fleas.  Despite this, his tail never stopped wagging -he seems to be very grateful to have been saved.  After being treated for everything and being fed high quality food multiple times a day, King is now healthy and at a good weight and is down to just one meal a day.  King is really a nice dog but at this time, we are going to recommend he be an only dog.  Because he was bascially starved almost to death, he needs to be fed carefully and should be adopted by someone who can handle a strong dog.  He is very friendly but we do not know how he would react if he felt threatned by another dog, especially if there was food around.  For this reason, we are also not recommending him for a home with small children.  This could easily change over time where he wouldn't feel the need to resource guard but there is also the chance he might always feel the need to do this.  He suffered a trauma and is honesly, lucky to be alive.  We really believe he will thrive in the right home.  He is up to date with shots, neutered, negative for heartworms/on prevention, and crate trainefd.  If you would like to adopt Kind, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org Adoption fee is $85 and includes all veterinary care We prescreen all applicants prior to meeting.  To be screened, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org We do allow out of state adoptions.  However, we do not ship nor transport sight unseen pets for many reasons.  We require travel in person adoption. show less

This is Lady May, a schnauzer/mini dachshund mix around a year old.  Lady May has been through several homes during her short life?  Why you ask?  Because she is an escape artist.  She can dig under any fence with amazing efficiency.  Each new owner *thought* the one before was exaggerating but no, they were not.  If she is left out alone, she will figure out a way to escape a fenced in yard.  Therefore, she cannot go out by herself.  Honestly, it would be better if she were leash walked for exercise and potty time.  The good news is that you will not find a sweeter, more outgoing little dog -she is very friendly and never meets a stranger -she loves to be hugged and will give kisses.  She is fine with other pets and older children would be OK (again, we cannot stress enough that she cannot go outside by herself or be allowed off leash, children would need to be extra mindful of this).  We know there is the perfect home out there for her.  Lady May is up to date with shots, spayed, negative for heartworms/on prevention, and housebroken.  For adoption, please visit our website at www.myhstc.org Adoption fee is $85 and includes all veterinary care We prescreen all applicants prior to a meeting; to be screened, please submit an application at www.myhstc.org We do allow out of state adoptions.  However, we do not ship nor transport sight unseen pets for many reasons, we require travel in person adoption. show less

Call me Mikey. Foster-human mom only calls me Michael when I’m busy doing really fun stuff - like jumping on one of my older foster brother’s back or stalking one of my foster sister or trying to sneak attack one of them while they are in the litter box. She says it really loud too. Like “MICHAEL!” - much louder than she says Mikey. 🤔 She’s a strange human. Anyway, I love to play. I’ve learned a game that foster-human calls parkour - it is so much fun and I’m really good at it. It makes me really tired though so I take long naps after playing that game. I snuggle up close to foster-human so she will pet me while I fall asleep. She always calls me Mikey, in a really soft voice, when I’m snuggly. I have a place on my right side where my fur feels different - that’s because I had a bad injury when this amazing girl found me. I was in a big open place, trying to hide under these weird things that sometimes got loud and then moved. I tried to get humans to notice me but no one did. I was really scared and cold and hungry. The amazing girl came to go in the big building where all the other humans went in and out of but she was different. She saw me and didn’t look away. She let me rub on her legs and she picked me up. She put me in one of the weird things (it wasn’t as loud on the inside) and snuggled me close and took me to a place she called “home”. It was the most awesome day of my life even though my side hurt really bad. She gave me food and water and a soft bed too! I went to a place the next day where a lady shaved my sore side and then poked me with something sharp. I thought it was very rude and I tried to be mad at her but she talked really soft and made my heart feel mushy like my amazing girl did so I didn’t bite or scratch her (lucky her cause I have skills). The lady did some other very rude things and then let me sleep. She told the foster-human that I had several bite wounds and they looked bad but with the antibiotic they would heal. Foster-human took me to her place called “home” and I’ve been enriching her life since then. Oh, the fur on my right side is catching up with the rest of my fur - you can’t even tell the difference when you look at me - it just feels different when you pet me. I haven’t been around dogs or children but I love everything and am not scared of anything. Even if you have a dog or a children, you’ll still want me - I’m so awesome. I’m very self confident and fairly independent too. 😻 You can submit an adoption application for Mikey at http://www.myhstc.org/cats. This is Precious - a lab/shepherd blend around a year old.  She and 7 other dogs (including King who is also for adoption) were confiscated by animal control for cruelty and neglect.  All 8 dogs were living on chains with no access to water or shelter and were basically fed only sporadically.  We have "before pictures" of her -she was absolutely nothing but skin and bones when she came in -she was also full of worms and fleas.  After being treated for both and being fed multiple times a day a nice steady diet, she is now down to just one meal a day and is healthy and ready to be adopted!  Precious is very sweet -she can be a little timid at first but once she comes out of her shell,, she is very affectionate and gives kisses.  She is good with other dogs but will likely always need to be fed separately from other dogs.  After nearly starving to death, it is understandable that she would resource guard.  We also would not recommend a home with small children -she loves people of all ages however, when it comes to food, she will likely always have to be monitored.  It could be something she gets over in time but we do not know.  What we do know is that she deserves a home that will properly care for her and love her the way she will love you.  She is up to date with shots, spayed, negative for heartworms/on prevention, and crate trained.  If you would like to welcome Precious into your home, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org Adoption fee is $85 and includes all veterinary care We prescreen all applicants prior to meeting.  To be screened, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org We do allow out of state adoptions.  However, we do not ship nor transport sight unseen pets for many reasons.  We require travel in person adoption. show less

This is Rock, a 9-10 years young pure bred English Pointer.  He was brought to us by a plantation that needed to make room for a younger generation of hunting dogs.  Rock not only comes from a chamption line of field trial dogs, he is a multiple time winner himself.  He still points and shows like the champion he is -he just cannot do it for the lengthy periods of time he could do it in his youth.  He could certainly still be used for hunting as long as he is give ample time to rest.  He is smart and obeys commands readily.  He is good with other dogs and likes people of all ages, including children (he is untested with cats).  Rock has been given a clean bill of health from our vet -the plantation he came from has an excellent reputation for caring for their dogs.  He is up to date with shots, negative for heartworms/on prevention, crate trained and neutered.  If you would like to adopt Rock, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org Adoption fee is $85 and includes all vet care Anyone wishing to meet one of our pets must be pre-screened.  To be screened, please submit an adoption application at www.myhstc.org We do allow out of states adoptions however we do not ship nor transport sight unseen pets for many reasons.  We require travel in person adoption. show less
