This sweet girl will give you all of the love she has and she really enjoys spending time with her people.  More often than not, if you are sitting or laying down she is close by, preferably using you as a pillow.   Laps really do make nice, warm, cozy napping spots.     She is a playful girl.  She still acts like a kitten when it comes to playing and small toys she can swat around seem to be her favorites. When not playing, she enjoys lounging at the top of her cat tree so she can see everything.  She likes to survey her surroundings and see what is going on.  So, really, the best of both worlds = playful and chill!   Abby needs to be the only cat in the home--she does not get along with dogs or other cats.  She will be a wonderful companion to the person who will commit to loving her. She does well with adults and should be okay with older children who understand to take things on Abby's time.  A little patience goes a long way with her - she may be a bit shy and timid at first meeting - but once she gets to know you she will be "all in"! Abby is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all shots. A meet and greet can be arranged with her and her foster mom after the application for her is approved. (DOB 04/28/2022)  Due to Alexandria's young age, she has not yet been spayed.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  We will require another active, playful and energic dog in the home that can match this cute puppy's energy level.  Puppies thrive with other dogs as part of their socialization skills development during their early years.   After play time, this sweetie is going to need lots of love and snuggle time!  Make sure your heart and home ready for little kisses and soft snores.   A home where there is not large gaps of time where the puppy is left alone is important as well.  So a home where there is work from home, flexible work/school schedules or family members that stay at home are important.  This cutie will need several potty breaks and playtime throughout the day.  So someone committed to the time invest is very important.   No young children (less than ~8 years) since puppies at this age are teething and putting everything in their mouths which includes little ones toes, hands, fingers, etc.  The adoptive parents will need to be able to monitor proper child and pup interaction.   Puppies need structure, routines, and positive reinforcement training to learn boundaries and how to be a well mannered adult dog.  Teaching a puppy at an early age is easy when you start young and spend a little time each day "playing" with new commands or behaviors.  The new family will need to be prepared for spending the time and energy into teaching this young pup how to be a well rounded and well behaved little angel.  Introducing your new pup to all kinds of new experiences is import in the first year - take them in the car to new places, meet new people, and ensure you  work with leash walking.   You will need to be prepared for the puppy stages of house training, crate training, providing proper chewing items etc.  Puppies need you to help them be successful as they mature month over month.  They have lots to learn from their new parents and family.   Can't wait to meet this little bundle of fur - then fill out an application to adopt! (DOB 04/03/2022)  Due to Al Pacino's young age, he has not yet been neutered.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  Al Pacino is a take charge type of puppy, bossing his siblings around and making everyone fall in love with his heart melting eyes.  Aren't you just drawn in by his cuteness? He has typical puppy energy and loves to chase balls and play with toys. He will need another dog in his life to help him corral his puppy energy and attitude.  If his new family also has dog-savvy cat(s) in the home, Al will likely learn quickly from the kittie his boundaries since he is a young pup. In addition, Al's new family will want to be ready for the time commitment of a puppy; they need lots of play time, teaching and training time, introducing them to new and different places and activities, so they grow into well adjusted, confident, and well mannered young adults.  Puppies love to learn at a young age and making it a game with lots of love and positive reinforcement is fun for them! Al Pacino, like all puppies is teething and learnign bite inhibition, so if their are children in the home, they should be no younger than 8 years of age.  Remember puppies put everything in their mouths which includes kids fingers and toes, so very young children are not a good fit for equally young puppies.  The family will need to show Al what he can and should not be chewing on and redirect him to appropriate teething and chew toys. April is a very sweet, petite, and playful girl. She loves to have her head rubbed, is very affectionate and wants to snuggle beside you.  She is good with other cats and is currently fostered with a dog.  She would do best in a fairly quiet adult home without children. She came to us when she was expecting babies and all of her kittens have been adopted. Ava is only available on for local adoption - within 1 hour of Wake Forest NC as she is heartworm positive.  The rescue will pay for all her medical treatment at our veterinarian.  Ava is such a great dog; loves other dogs and loves to be with her people.  She is also good with cats but will chase them (in play) if they run.  She would also do well with older (~12+) kids just due to her size and energy level.  Speaking of energy, Ava does want an active and fun family.  She still has a lot of playful energy to burn off every day.  Ava is looking for a home with a fence (5ft tall) so she can run and play.  She loves a car ride and is also well mannered on a leash so why not just take her everywhere you go?  She loves everyone she meets so no one is a stranger to Ava.  Ava is on the  submissive side and has a more shy personality. As an added bonus, she is already house and crate trained!  You get the playfulness of a puppy without all the "puppyhood troubles and antics."  She should be fine as an only dog as long as the family spends a good amount of time with her each day.  Or she could be in a home with other furry friends that match her energy level.  She is easy to please in that way.  Ava loves walking and/or running with family.  She enjoys playing with other dogs and playing with toys.  Ava, like many dogs, is scared of loud thunder and lightening and fireworks so keeping her safe and calm during those kinds of events are the kind of parents she is looking for. She simply enjoys being with their person.  She is a snuggler and loves affection, lots of pets and is a bit of a velcro dog. WINK, WINK...look at me! In the 80's, did you think David Bowie was unique, striking, handsome - well so is our boy, Bowie!  He has such an expressive face and just catches the eye of anyone who sees him!  He is pretty hunk-a-licious! That's where the similarities end because our Bowie is a pretty shy boy. He likes to just hang out in the house of the sofa, and he's pretty lazy for a young pup.  He has mastered the ability to lay in all kinds of different positions and his pictures demonstrate his lounging abilities.  On the sofa he likes to be near you but won't be on top of you. Bowie will need another friendly pup in the home to build his confidence.  He likes hanging out and sleeping with his furry foster siblings.  The 3 of them can come and go in and out of the house throughout the day.  Bowie will play a little bit with his siblings and then he's ready to chill out again. He does love road trippin', so he would LOVE to go with you!!  He actually doesn't love being left alone and has some separation anxiety, so the more places his new family could take him with - the happier Bowie will be.  He likes everyone he meets (and let's be honest, he is so adorable, everyone loves him, too), so bring him with you, he'll be a hit!
