About Marmaduke
Marmaduke is an Alaskan Malamute, born in February 2019. He weighs 90+ pounds and came to Heartland in October 2019 with his sister Mallory from a breeder who was closing his business and where he did not receive much socialization. He has learned so much in foster care: he now enjoys petting, has agreed that it’s ok to sleep indoors at night, and has turned into a dynamite leash-walker. Marmaduke is highly food motiva...ted and that has helped him learn the ‘sit’ and ‘crate’ commands and to be willing to ‘take it outdoors’ for potty activity as long as he doesn’t have to wait too long. If a treat is involved, he’s all in! Even with all this progress, he is not ready to free roam in a house and will require a contained area when inside, preferably more than just a crate. From there he can continue to learn about appropriate inside behaviors.
Marmaduke requires an adopter with breed experience and a secure physical set-up (minimum 5-foot fence, large yard, and a suitable indoor space), the determination to continue his training, and the stamina to manage and exercise this fabulous dog.
Marmaduke is nicely partnered with his littermate Mallory and a home together will be strongly preferred. Cats and small dogs are not an option and it is not clear that he (or Mallory) will accept other dogs.
All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested negative ( puppies age 7 months and older) and microchipped. An adult dogs is fee is $200. There is a $5 fee for credit/debit cards.
