About Pepper - adoption pending

Adoption Fee: $225.00

I know, I know, I am not a Basset or a Beagle, but I hang out with a bunch of Beagles, so that should count, right?  My name is Pepper and I am an English Pointer.  So you say that you do not know anything about Pointers; so, let me tell you about me.  I am affectionate, kind, even tempered, loyal, and active.  I do a little dance when I want some attention.  I am used to having free roam of my home and yard.  I lived in the country where I would run and play and when called, I come running.  Although I like to run and play, I also love you be with my people and loved on.  I am approximately 10 years old, but you would never know it!  I am house trained, no need for a kennel because I do not misbehave, good with other dogs and ignore cats.  So, what happened to me you ask, how did I end up in rescue.  That is really an odd story.  I lived with my last family for 8 years until they sold our house.  Unfortunately, they could not take me and could not find anyone that would take me (although I do not understand why).  Luckily for me, they sold my home to a family that fosters for Basset and Beagle Rescue of the Heartland.  My new foster parents and now owners of my home, agreed to let me stay with them and Basset and Beagle agreed to help me get up to date on shots and find my forever home.  So, here I am, looking for my forever home.  Is that with you?

From Pepper’s foster mom:  It is our pleasure to help this beautiful girl find her forever home.  I have never had a foster as good as her.  She dances and prances, sits, comes when called.  She loves to run and play and loves attention doubly as much.  She doesn’t tend to jump up on people but I have seen her do it a few times when no one was paying attention to her dancing tactics.  She is up to date on all her shots, spayed, microchipped and heartworm negative.  Her adoption fee is $225 and she’s being fostered in the Kansas City area.  If she is not the right breed for you, but know of someone that would love this girl, please pass her information along!

Needs love, guidance, patience and attention!   Annie is one of the 8 beagles we rescued from a medical testing facility in April.  She really has come a LONG way but will still require a home that will continue to build her confidence and trust.  She is around 20 pounds and 3-4 years old. Annie would love a home with another dog so she can continue to become a great companion. What a fun dog she is becoming!  Annie has a different life now that she is no longer used for medical testing. She loves toys, including stealing them from the other pups at her foster home and of course trying to destroy them.  Annie plays well with other dogs and loves meeting new friends. She will race circles around the other dogs to get them to play.  She loves to go on walks and does well on the leash.  Annie has met kids and does great.  She has not met a cat but says she would be interested to see what the fuss is about. She is doing well with potty training but still has an accident once in a while. This is amazing since up until April she had never been outdoors! When Annie is stressed or nervous she will pace, she settles down within a few minutes when the excitement is over.  She is still learning about the world outside of a kennel so her new family will need patience to let her explore at her pace. Annie doesn’t do so well in the car, she will usually get sick, especially on longer rides. Since she has only known love and care from her foster moms Annie will need time to get to know her new family.  She gets anxious when her foster moms leave. She currently sleeps in her open crate at night (or on the bed) and is also crated when her foster moms leave.  Annie likes treats but is still learning to take them from your hand, she prefers it to be set on the ground.  She will need lots of dog approved chew treats as she likes to chew and occasionally needs to be reminded not to chew on furniture, rugs, etc.  She is very interested in people food so we are working on her table manners and not to beg. Annie loves to be outside and relax in the sun on the deck, especially when the weather is nice.  At times she will stay outside for a while. She is fully vetted including spay, microchip and all shots are up to date. Annie is fostered in the Omaha area with an adoption fee of $350. If you have the love, time, and patience to watch this beautiful girl blossom into a loyal family member please apply for her at www.bassetandbeagle.com show less

Call me Charlie Bob!  I am adorable and playful and sweet and boy oh boy oh boy do I like to sit on a human lap!  Whoo hoo!  And if you go walking through the grass, I will follow and dance all around you!  I think a human is a good pack leader, and I’m the pack!  Otherwise I like to play with other dogs.  Sometimes I sit on the patio and watch the world go by or I sprawl on a dog bed and snooze. As a puppy I have sharp teeth and claws but I am doing better all the time at learning to tone it down. As a puppy, I will chew on a cord or on a dropped wash rag or anything like that, so you must give me chew toys and watch out!  I haven’t done anything bad, but I’m just warning you.  I am doing well with kennel training.  I sleep in a kennel at night. It’s a little silly, getting penned in, but I get it.  I sleep all night so that I can be ready for my next day  First thing in the morning I get to go outside and I run into the grass and poop! I am learning to be house trained. I’m so smart!  I’m a puppy, so my bladder isn’t strong enough to go through an entire night.  Pee pads help.  But I have not pooped in the house yet. I don’t know of any Charlie Bob’s who have ever pooped in a house, do you?  Not me, for sure. I will have my last vaccination shots & get chipped on June 17.  If you are my fur-ever human being, I hope you have found me by then. Just ask for Charlie Bob! You can apply for Charlie Bob at www.bassetandbeagle.org.  His adoption fee is $400.00 plus a $50.00 refundable neuter deposit. show less

Hi my name is Ginger aka wiggle butt as my tail is always wagging with joy to see people and other dog friends.  I am a tiny little freckled beagle girl weighing in at just under 20 pounds.  The vet thinks I am approximately four years young and my foster parents agree as I love to play.  When I first came to my foster home my family thought I was scared because of how I hunker down and army crawl towards people.  After a few days they realized this is just my personality as it allows me to easily roll over for belly rubs.  In my current home there are 5 friends who are here every day and I love them all.  Sometimes these big dogs come for a couple days and I am not scared because I am small, I am happy because it's more friends for me to play with.  I am crate trained and potty trained but I am still working on walking on a leash.  When my parents try to take me on a walk I prefer to roll over for belly rubs or be carried like the princess I am.  At night I will lay on a comfy dog bed or on the people bed if there is room.  I don’t have a preference as long as I am with my friends and family.  I would love a home where I have another dog to play with and an owner who will give me ear scratches and belly rubs. I am UTD on all my shots and spayed.  In couple days I am getting my pearly whites cleaned so I can put my best smile forward.  Ginger is available and you can apply for her at www.bassetandbeagle.org. show less

Haley Jo - adoption pending

Beagle

Needs love, guidance, patience and attention! Haley is one of the 8 beagles that were rescued from a medical testing facility in April.... show more

Needs love, guidance, patience and attention! Haley is one of the 8 beagles that were rescued from a medical testing facility in April. She's a kind and gentle soul that's still learning about life outside of a kennel. Although Haley is roughly 4 years old, she's finally getting to act like a puppy and will require patience and training like a puppy. She's still working on potty training but if you take her out on a regular schedule she'll potty outside.  Forget and she'll potty inside! Haley is doing really well sleeping in a kennel at night and usually only barks in the middle of the night if she has to go potty. She currently gets a bedtime treat and she'll go right into her kennel to get it. She currently eats in a kennel but she prefers not to use the kennel she sleeps in to eat her meals in. She doesn't need to eat in a kennel as she has no aggression but will try to eat any other dogs food if she finishes first. Haley loves food and will bark at her foster mom when her food is being prepared. She will also try to counter surf if she smells something really good! Haley is starting to figure out toys but her favorite thing besides food is to chew. She loves hard plastic chew toys, a frisbee or chew bones are perfect! She loves soft dog beds but will pick at them if she gets bored and doesn't have anything else to chew on. Haley is good with other dogs but hasn't figured out the necessity of playing with them yet. She enjoys watching their reactions and will follow their lead. So having another confident dog around will help her warm up. Once she warms up to someone she is full of loves and kisses and likes to follow them wherever they go. She will need someone with patience that understands that she takes time to build trust with people. Haley is up to date on shots, spayed and microchipped. She's currently being fostered in the Kansas City area with an adoption fee of $350. If you have the love, time and patience to watch this beautiful girl grow into an amazing dog, please apply for her at www.bassetandbeagle.org!  show less

RROAARRR!  I am Leo the Lion I am a very energetic Lab/Heeler/Beagle mix.  I am your typical rambunctious puppy that just keeps on going and loves to play.  I really like people and love to get in lots of snuggles, kisses and playtime.  I love to play and wrestle with other dogs.  I have not been exposed to cats but claws sound super crazy!  I will need someone to work with me on my basic commands and they will need patience as I get distracted pretty easily since I would rather be playing.  Since I am still a puppy I will need to be potty trained so you will need to teach me where to go and how to ask until I get the hang of it.  My foster home kennels me when they leave during the daytime and at night.  I am also working on learning how to walk on a leash. If you are looking for a puppy that will need LOTS of attention and patience I may be what you are looking for.  I will need toys and approved puppy chew toys to keep me occupied, maybe a playmate and of course lots of snuggles and kisses from you.  Oh yeah, about my name – it really does fit me as I am a courageous guy who isn’t afraid to meet other dogs and people. I was born sometime towards the end of March and they think I’ll be a medium sized dog.  I will be ready to move into my new home after Jun 18th.  I am microchipped, dewormed and have received 2 sets of my puppy shots.  I will need my 3rd set of shots along with rabies.  My adoption fee is $400 plus a refundable $50 spay/neuter fee.  Fostered in Omaha NE. Hi, I am Pixel!  I am a Lab/Pointer Mix and I am around 5 months old and 37 lbs, I am not going to be tiny!  I am a very energetic puppy that loves to run and play. Having a fenced in yard would be best for me. I love toys and those crazy squeakers things inside them and kill them the first chance I get.  I know sit and I am working on other commands. I would love a home with another dog since I really want someone to play with.  I have met a cat and they were interesting but a little scary.  I will need someone with patience that is willing to work with me on my basic commands and potty training as I am not fully potty trained.  You will need to teach me where to go and how to ask until I get the hang of it.  I sleep with my humans at night. I will kennel up, especially if treats are involved, when the family leaves. If you are looking for a puppy that will want LOTS of attention and you have the patience for a puppy, I may be what you are looking for.  I will need toys or chew bones to keep me occupied, maybe a playmate and of course lots of snuggles and kisses from you.   I am ready to move into my new home anytime.  I am spayed, I have been microchipped, dewormed and received my puppy shots along with rabies.  My adoption fee is $400.  Apply for me at www.bassetandbeagle.org if you are ready for a forever companion.
