Well, hello there. I'm Cassie. I'm a beautiful 6 year old basset hound. Seeing as I am a basset hound, I like the typical things: food, naps on the couch with my humans, food, snuggles, oh, and food. If you leave your food unattended I will be happy to take care of it for you. I get along well with other dogs but I prefer to hang out with the boys rather than the girls though. I'm not very interested in children. I've heard of things called cats but I'm not sure what they are. I might get along with them since I don't bother chasing the other critters in the yard like those silly beagles do. I weigh about 50 lbs and like to sleep in a bed near my humans. I am a really good girl and house trained so my foster mama doesn't use the crate with me. I hang out in the living room if my people are gone and do just fine on my own. That is unless you leave your food in there. But like I said, if you leave your food out I will be happy to take care of it for you. I do love food but I'm not aggressive about it. In fact, sometimes I let the other dogs share my dinner if they want a nibble from my special "slow bowl". I hope that we can meet and be friends. I love people and especially love snuggling on the couch and hanging out. I had a yucky ear infection when I came to my foster home from the shelter. Because of that I don't like to get my ears cleaned. I also don't like to get my nails trimmed but my long, lovely basset ears have heard this is pretty common with lots of dogs. My foster mama has been taking me to get some chiropractic treatments for my back, she thinks maybe I hurt it in the past since I occasionally get a little wobbly and slip on slick surfaces. We bassets sometimes have back problems...it's because of our long, beautiful bodies. But those long bodies just mean more room for belly rubs!  I am microchipped, spayed, and up to date on my shots. My adoption fee is $350. If you want to take me home for lots of snuggles just fill out an adoption form at www.bassetandbeagle.org and we can be friends forever!  show less

Jasper J Jasper J or JJ or Buddy or Silly Sam.  Some dogs just seem to need a lot of fun names. I think it cheers them up.  Jasper is a worrier.  You can tell by looking at his face and by his demeanor.  I think he is worried he will be left outside by himself again.  I think he is worried about missing a meal (he has not missed many!)  He is worried people will be mean.  He is worried the other dogs will be mean.  But guess what Jasper?  You are safe and we love you.  Jasper came from another rescue where he was not getting noticed.  We think he has some beagle in him but he has a cute tail that curls over his back in a perfect circle.  He is about 30-33 lbs, 2-3 years old and has a pretty, soft, smooth coat. He is crate trained and, so far, marked the first day, but is doing really well with housebreaking.  Jasper loves soft beds, treats, other dogs and digging.  Yeah, he is a digger.  But he is improving already. I mean he isn’t digging as much not that he is a better, more efficient digger!  When I catch him digging we come into the house and he gets a little treat.  He loves treats! He is shy so he needs some time to feel comfortable around you.  He loves to come up for chin and butt scritches.  While you pet him, he looks at you with his old soul eyes,  You can see the love he wants tpo give and accept.  He just needs patience and love.  Jasper has not been around cats or kids but we think he would be fine with a proper introduction. Jasper J is up to date on shots, neutered and microchipped.  If interested in meeting your new best friend please apply for Jasper J at www.bassetandbeagle.,org.  His adoption fee is $350. show less

My name is Lilly Pad! I LOVE WATER!!! UPDATE on Lilly Pad 7/13  She is 4-5 months old, spayed, microchipped and up to date on shots.  Loves her walks and pool time.  Also loves kids and dogs. Lily is working hard on potty training and does great in her crate.  She is a total sweetheart. I am a very energetic Lab/Heeler/Beagle mix.  I am your typical rambunctious puppy that just keeps on going and loves to play.  I really like people and love to get in lots of snuggles, kisses and playtime.  I love to play and wrestle with other dogs after I get to know them.  I have not been exposed to cats but claws sound super crazy!  I will need someone to work with me on my basic commands and they will need patience as I get distracted pretty easily since I would rather be playing.  Since I am still a puppy I will need continued potty training so you will need to teach me where to go and how to ask until I get the hang of it.  My foster home kennels me when they leave during the daytime and at night.  I am also working on learning how to walk on a leash. If you are looking for an adorable, sweet puppy and able to give me LOTS of attention and patience, I may be just what you are looking for!  I will need toys and approved puppy bones to keep me occupied, maybe a playmate and of course lots of snuggles and kisses from you. Oh yeah back to my name – I really love water and a small kiddie pool would be awesome! I was born sometime towards the end of March and they think I’ll be a medium sized dog.  I am microchipped, dewormed and have received 3 sets of my puppy shots and rabies.  My adoption fee is $400.  Fostered in Omaha NE.  Please apply for Lilly Pad at www.bassetandbeagle.com show less

COURTESY POST Miracle Max is a 7.5 year old neutered male beagle. He is a sweet, sensitive boy. He is an extremely easy dog to care for- he has not had an accident in the house and loves to lounge around/cuddle. He has the sweetest demeanor but he is a very nervous boy and is somewhat of a scaredy cat. Noises and busy activity tend to scare him.  He has barked about 2 times in the past 3 weeks of having him which is not many for a beagle! Every day since being in a home, he has opened up more and more. He tolerates dogs well once he gets to know them but he does have some fear aggression when meeting new dogs. He loves cuddles and belly rubs more than anything. He definitely is an old soul even though he is only 7.5. He would do very well with someone who wants a low energy lap dog and enjoys “senior vibes” that will hopefully be around for many more years. He would not do so well for someone that wants a playful companion for their current pet because he isn’t a big player. His previous family said he did great with their other senior beagle and 3 young children. Max suffers from perianal fistulas. This is an autoimmune condition that will require daily or every other daily dosing of an immunosuppressive lifelong. Luckily, his fistulas are about 100% healed and the medication at a human pharmacy should not be more than about $15 a month once tapered to his long term dose. The fistulas do not cause him any pain or discomfort and once completely healed, should not return if kept on a low dose of medication. In addition to his fistulas, he also has a mild heart murmur. Chest x-rays and an echocardiogram were performed and he does not require any treatment for this but yearly chest x-rays will be recommended. He also has some shoulder arthritis so he moves a slower but no abnormalities were seen on his x-rays. He still jumps up on our bed and chases birds just fine. Full bloodwork showed no abnormalities. Max would do wonderful for someone looking for a low key couch potato with the sweetest personality. He ideally would go to a home with other low key dogs or an only dog but he will tolerate younger dogs but takes a little bit to warm up to them. If interested in Miracle Max please fill out our application at www.bassetandbeagle.org and we will get you in touch with his foster home. show less
