Name: Duff
Suspected Breed(s): Mixed breed
Gender: Male
Age: 2 years old
Weight: 51 lbs
Personality: Brave, goofy, loyal, affectionate, smart, friendly, outgoing, trainable, adventurous, playful, funny, eager to please, adaptable, energetic
Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs, but needs to work on meeting them while on walks
Observations with Cats: No cats
Observations with Kids: Untested
House Training Progress: Occasional accidents.  Perfecting the lines of communication for when he needs to go outside.
Crate Training Progress: Does well in crate for up to 4-5 hours during the day.
Location: DC area foster
Rescued From: Columbus County, NC
Additional Information: With Duff, the sky is the limit. This happy-go-lucky fella is an open book who is ready to learn and grow with you. He loves being outside and exploring new places. Evening walks are his favorite time of the day—Duff literally dances with delight as his harness is put on him. He is working on tempering his excitement while on leash during walks; so many dogs to greet and new things to investigate! His best buddy, a little resident dachshund/rat terrier, is his mentor and hero. Duff copies everything she does and plays with her very gently in spite of his much bigger size. Duff is would be a great dog for an active person who also wants snuggles.

*Duff is sponsored by Kathy Furey. Thank you for saving a life Kathy!!

City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model).

Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Bordatella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis.

Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Angus is just what a cat should be: sweet, smart, calm, affectionate, playful, curious, and gentle. His hobbies include getting ear rubs and chin scratches, napping, sunbathing, looking out the window, and donning a kilt to play bagpipes in the Scottish Highlands. Okay, so Angus is not great at playing bagpipes (yet), but he is vocal! He is super curious and loves to explore every nook, cranny, closet, and cupboard in his space. Angus is independent and accustomed to being a singleton, so he should be the only cat in his household. He's not a big fan of being held but he does like to sit right up next to you, which makes him an awesome work-from-home, reading, and tv watching companion!  ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Aurora Suspected Breed(s): domestic short hair (DSH)/Calico Gender: F Age: 3 years Weight: 8 lbs Personality: Shy, Quiet, friendly Observations with Dogs: No observations with dogs Observations with Cats: Would do best with a relaxed, confident companion cat. Observations with Kids: Very shy, so not a good candidate for small kids House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Rescued From: Wythe County, NC Additional Information: Allow us to introduce you to amazing Aurora! This dazzling calico cat is absolutely gorgeous and looking for her forever home.   Aurora is a sweet albeit shy beauty. She takes a lot of time and patience to warm up to new people and places. So her ideal human is one who will continue to work with her to build her confidence in her new home.  She would also do best with a relaxed resident feline friend who can help show her the ropes and settle into her new surroundings. This sleeping beauty prefers napping in her cozy tent more than being an explorer.  She does enjoy the occasional mouse toy when she thinks no one is looking and once you develop a rapport with her, she will play with a wand toy with you. Aurora has good litterbox manners and has shown no inappropriate scratching. Aurora would do best in a quiet home with a patient human and friendly feline who will help her adjust to her new surroundings and build her confidence. If you’re confident that Aurora would be the perfect cat for you, fill out an application to meet her! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. House Training Progress: No recent accidents Crate Training Progress: Banjo is a big fan of his crate Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Banjo would thrive in a home in a quiet neighborhood, as the loud noises of cars and buses scare him. He is a honey! This adorable guy loves to nap by his people on the bed or couch and watch TV after a day with a couple of long walks. (Banjo is very well versed on the affairs of the world.) Banjo loves to greet his humans at the door upon their return home, and he will unabashedly roll on his back for a welcome home belly rub! After adjusting from a quiet rural area, Banjo now has a growing curiosity and a general sense of joy about the world. Banjo loves to be out in nature and his tail wags all the time! He has a bit of a limp in his leg but is fast as a rabbit and loves playing with other dogs. He is learning how to come when he is called. He is a good pup! This beautiful kitten is bursting with quirky personality. Bella is sweet and affectionate once she bonds with a human, but she still wants her independence. She’s not a lap cat, but she’ll cuddle up next to you if you let her hold the remote. If you sing in the shower you’d better be prepared to harmonize – Bella will join you because she loves water! Maybe a pet fountain would keep her busy if you like privacy. Bella is vocal, and she chirps as a greeting, after using the litter box, and when there’s hot gossip she’s got to share. Bella is smart and playful, she loves to climb, bird watch and play with toys. She needs attention and some training and has struggled without an outlet for her energy. Bella would probably do well in a home with another cat(s) and people home during the day. She does need to work on inappropriate scratching. A playful cat buddy and a patient human might be just what she needs to refocus that energy! Bella is a unique character, and she needs a home to match!   ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. They spend a lot of time just snuggled up next to each other on a blanket.   Watching them snuggle and care for each other is an incredible experience - they are two sweet, devoted kitties who will make incredible pets for a lucky forever person.  Please consider adopting this dynamic duo! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.  Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less
