About Copeland (Has Application)

Adoption Fee: $450 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Copeland
Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 74 lbs
Personality: Quick learner, playful, funny, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, snuggler, eager to please
Observations with Dogs: Copeland gets along with most dogs. As with all dogs, a proper introduction (like parallel walks prior to an off-leash intro) is a great way to help with canine harmony! He would love a home with a large dog to play with in the yard.
Observations with Cats: Untested
Observations with Kids: Copeland doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but he’s been excited to see the kids he's met and done well with them.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate
Location: Suburban Virginia
Rescued From: Roane County, WV
Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, and loving dog. He is super playful and pounces on toys like a panther. This good dog is goofy, happy, and inquisitive, much like his pup look-alike, Scooby Doo. Do you see it? Because we sure Scooby Dooby Do in this good-looking guy! Copeland has had the great opportunity to be staying with a trainer, and she reports that he loves to learn! He knows "let's go," "sit," "go to mat," "trade," "go get it," and "come." Like most dogs, he'd love a person who wants to continue to use positive training to engage him. Getting treats for winning your approval and being a good boy is Copeland's favorite part of life!

Copeland is leash reactive (meaning he barks on leash) so isn’t a great fit for the city, but he would make a terrific companion for someone with a house and yard for him to play in. Copeland is very loyal and bonds deeply with his caregivers — it would be hard to find a more affectionate and trusting dog than Copeland to be your next furry friend. He also enjoys making other human and canine friends. His best friend is a large female Malinois, but he’s spent time around dogs large and small and might love a canine companion to romp with in his new home. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland!

Name: Parsley Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Male Age: 3 months (as of 9/2022) Weight: 3 lbs Personality: Shy, Gentle, Easygoing, Adventurous, Curious, Playful, Independent Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Enjoys playing with his siblings Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litter box manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Meet our pal Parsley! He’s a sweet, gentle, curious kitten looking for his forever home. Though he may be a bit shy at first, it doesn't take long for this little man to open up and show his true colors. Speaking of colors, we’re obsessed with Parsley’s gorgeous tabby-cat stripes and teeny-tiny white paws. Once Parsley is comfortable in his surroundings he becomes quite the explorer and will investigate new spaces. Parsley loves chasing his spice kitten siblings–Basil, Chive and Oregano–around the house, and they like to chase him back. The four of these kittens together are quite a zesty mix! Parsley also enjoys climbing to the tallest tiers of the cat tree and tossing toy mice in the air. If there’s competition over a shared toy, low-key Parsley prefers to stay out of the fray. When there's no competition over a toy, Parsley’s confidence returns, and his hunting skills kick in. Parsley has a friendly and affectionate nature, and once he feels safe, he welcomes pets and scratches. With lots of love and a bit of encouragement, we’re sure Parsley’s confidence will continue to grow. In short, we think life with Parsley would be sup-herb. (Get it?) If Parsley sounds like the purr-fect addition to your family, please complete an adoption application today! The kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. The 100 Kittens: Bellamy

Domestic Short Hair

Name: Bellamy Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Male Age: 5 months Weight: 2lbs Personality: Affectionate, Shy, Gentle, Adventurous, Curious, Playful, Energetic Observations with Dogs: Doesn't care for dogs Observations with Cats: Good with other cats Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: New Jersey Additional Information: Bellamy is a long and lean 5-month-old kitten. He first came to DC as part of a very shy litter of kittens who weren't so sure about these 'humans'. While his progress was slow, he has developed into a very happy go lucky little guy who is just a wee bit jumpy. He does love pets and snuggles, but he has to be a bit tuckered out to accept them. So good thing that Bellamy is a high energy kitten who is very food motivated! He is constantly running around with his siblings and he loves playing. His favorite toys are bouncy balls and wand toys. He seems to always be growing, so is a bit clumsy for now, but that just adds to his charm. Bellamy does well with other cats, as well as his siblings. His sister Octavia has to go with either Clarke or Bellamy. Bellamy is still a bit jumpy so might do best in a quieter home. Do you think you have the right home for Bellamy? Apply today to meet Bellamy (and maybe the rest of his siblings, too)! You can see more of Bellamy on Instagram under the hashtag #BouncyBellamy. Name: Octavia Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Female Age: 5 months Weight: 2lbs Personality: Quiet, Shy, Adventurous, Curious, Energetic, Smart Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Great with her siblings; still trying to figure out other cats Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: New Jersey Additional Information: Octavia is a gorgeous 5-month-old brown tabby. She came to CDCKR as the smallest and spiciest kitten in a very shy litter. She is still the smallest and spiciest, but she has since decided that humans could offer some value add to her life. Octavia is mostly a “look, don’t touch” type of kitten right now, but she will take some petting or holding when she is very sleepy. This is all to say that, in the right home, she definitely has great potential! Octavia also loves to play. She is always running and tumbling with her siblings and her favorite toys are bouncy balls and wand toys. She has been known to like a good cardboard cat scratcher and loves to hang out in high places, like on top of a cat tree. Octavia is great with her siblings. She has to be adopted with either her sister Clarke or her brother Bellamy, both of whom love her a whole lot! Octavia is very jumpy still and would do best in a quieter home. Do you have the love and patience to help Octavia grow up into all that a sweet cat can be? Apply today to meet Octavia (and her siblings, too)! He’s a very sweet boy who loves attention and will rub up against your legs and nuzzle your face to show affection. He likes to greet you with a meow when you walk in the room and follow you until he gets some pets. As you can see in his photos, Tiger has the most expressive green eyes and the softest fur, and he’s an expert at posing for the camera. Tiger loves to spend quality time with his people, but he can also entertain himself. He likes playing with catnip toys—either by himself or with you. He’s also just as happy sitting quietly and watching birds out the windows and he’s a giant couch potato at heart! Tiger's very gentle when playing and careful not to scratch you. He may initially be shy in a new environment, but he quickly warms up and, soon enough, he'll just want to be pet all the time. Tiger is an observer, and when he’s feeling especially curious, he likes to stand on his hind legs to investigate—it's adorable! Name: Veronica Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: female Age: 3 months (born 6/10/22) Weight: 3lbs Personality: Friendly, Adventurous, Curious, Playful, Energetic, Independent, Smart Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Loves playing with her siblings Observations with Kids: Shy at first but had a great time when she realized kids are FUN! Maybe even Big Fun! House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Veronica isn't just another Heather. Yes, her favorite color is blue and she is an avid journal-er and is intrigued by mysterious bad guys on motorcycles, but she's so much more than that. Veronica is a playful, energetic sweetie who isn’t at all needy. She can be perfectly happy entertaining herself by tossing toys in the air or bouncing on and off the cat tree. Though she is the smallest of her littermates, she can definitely hold her own when it comes to competing over a shared toy. Veronica is quite agile and athletic and is often the first to catch the feather wand. When she finds a toy she especially likes, she’ll carry it around the room between bouts of batting it across the floor. Once her romper-room energy is satisfied, she enjoys pets and scratches from her foster mom. Apply today to take home a Veronica! And maybe one of her littermates, too? Veronica does enjoy a clique ;-) The kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine.
