About Copeland (Has Application)

Adoption Fee: $450 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Copeland
Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 74 lbs
Personality: Quick learner, playful, funny, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, snuggler, eager to please
Observations with Dogs: Copeland gets along with most dogs. As with all dogs, a proper introduction (like parallel walks prior to an off-leash intro) is a great way to help with canine harmony! He would love a home with a large dog to play with in the yard.
Observations with Cats: Untested
Observations with Kids: Copeland doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but he’s been excited to see the kids he's met and done well with them.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate
Location: Suburban Virginia
Rescued From: Roane County, WV
Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, and loving dog. He is super playful and pounces on toys like a panther. This good dog is goofy, happy, and inquisitive, much like his pup look-alike, Scooby Doo. Do you see it? Because we sure Scooby Dooby Do in this good-looking guy! Copeland has had the great opportunity to be staying with a trainer, and she reports that he loves to learn! He knows "let's go," "sit," "go to mat," "trade," "go get it," and "come." Like most dogs, he'd love a person who wants to continue to use positive training to engage him. Getting treats for winning your approval and being a good boy is Copeland's favorite part of life!

Copeland is leash reactive (meaning he barks on leash) so isn’t a great fit for the city, but he would make a terrific companion for someone with a house and yard for him to play in. Copeland is very loyal and bonds deeply with his caregivers — it would be hard to find a more affectionate and trusting dog than Copeland to be your next furry friend. He also enjoys making other human and canine friends. His best friend is a large female Malinois, but he’s spent time around dogs large and small and might love a canine companion to romp with in his new home. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland!

Observations with Cats: Untested Observations with Kids: Untested House Training Progress: Doing well with house training Crate Training Progress: Dolly does well in the crate and enjoys going into it to relax. She is a laid-back snuggle buddy who appreciates the comforts of home. Dolly’s favorite snuggle spot is in a nest of throw pillows, but don’t worry, she will take care of arranging everything herself.  Dolly loves meeting new people and dogs — she has made fast friends with the resident dog in her foster home and loves to play tag with her in the yard. This fun girl is also always up for a game of tug of war with her human, but if you need down time she will understand and throw her toys to herself in her own version of fetch! Dolly also has impeccable food manners, and will only eat what is in her bowl and not touch the yummy food you left on the coffee table for twominutes while you go to the kitchen to top up your wine! Truly an excellent dining companion, Dolly also sits calmly by your side as you enjoy brunch on a restaurant patio.  When walking Dolly loves to sniff around and explore her neighborhood, as well as meet new doggy friends! She’s looking for someone to help her perfect her doggy manners and continue to grow her confidence. Every day is a new adventure for Dolly — she could be the perfect adventure buddy for you! __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Elvis Suspected Breed(s): Maine Coon Gender: Male Age: 3 years Weight: 9 lbs Personality: Sweet, Friendly, Affectionate, Gentle, Quiet, Shy Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Unknown Observations with Kids: No observation, but likely would do best in a quiet home without young children House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Elvis is a hunka hunka burning love who cannot wait to find his Graceland! You can't help falling in love with such a sweet and affectionate cat who loves people. Despite being the King of Rock and Roll, the feline Elvis is not a fan of loud noises and is a shy boy who takes time to warm up to people and get comfortable in new environments. However, once Elvis gets comfortable with you, he will love you tender and reward you with lots of headbutts, demands for chin scratches, and a purr like a lawnmower. He'll happily purr while you pet him for as long as you'd like, and then gently tap your hand when you quit to gently suggest that maaaaaybe you're not quite done petting him. Elvis loves attention and treats, and once he's comfortable, he'll flop over for belly rubs whenever possible. He has a sweet, quiet meow and not a single mean bone in his body. He would do best in a calm home with a consistent routine, and humans who don't mind a cat that enjoys exploring every hiding spot in your home. So make yourself a peanut butter and banana sandwich, throw on some blue suede shoes, and apply to adopt Elvis today! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.  Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less
