About Copeland (Has Application)

Adoption Fee: $450 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Copeland
Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 74 lbs
Personality: Quick learner, playful, funny, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, snuggler, eager to please
Observations with Dogs: Copeland gets along with most dogs. As with all dogs, a proper introduction (like parallel walks prior to an off-leash intro) is a great way to help with canine harmony! He would love a home with a large dog to play with in the yard.
Observations with Cats: Untested
Observations with Kids: Copeland doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but he’s been excited to see the kids he's met and done well with them.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate
Location: Suburban Virginia
Rescued From: Roane County, WV
Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, and loving dog. He is super playful and pounces on toys like a panther. This good dog is goofy, happy, and inquisitive, much like his pup look-alike, Scooby Doo. Do you see it? Because we sure Scooby Dooby Do in this good-looking guy! Copeland has had the great opportunity to be staying with a trainer, and she reports that he loves to learn! He knows "let's go," "sit," "go to mat," "trade," "go get it," and "come." Like most dogs, he'd love a person who wants to continue to use positive training to engage him. Getting treats for winning your approval and being a good boy is Copeland's favorite part of life!

Copeland is leash reactive (meaning he barks on leash) so isn’t a great fit for the city, but he would make a terrific companion for someone with a house and yard for him to play in. Copeland is very loyal and bonds deeply with his caregivers — it would be hard to find a more affectionate and trusting dog than Copeland to be your next furry friend. He also enjoys making other human and canine friends. His best friend is a large female Malinois, but he’s spent time around dogs large and small and might love a canine companion to romp with in his new home. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland!

Like all pretty kitties, she expects you to dole out compliments along with kisses. In return, she'll purr and snuggle to express her gratitude. Although she's energetic, she doesn't require a large time investment for play. She's an excellent communicator who will gladly remind you when it's mealtime. If she wants to be petted, she'll raise her adorable little paws to draw you in while her soulful eyes speak to your heart. To talk about Tigerlily is to also talk about her faithful sidekick, Sam, who is a younger adult cat who helps her maintain her youthful attitude by being her play-fighting buddy. They absolutely adore catnip toys—and each other! Both are cat-friendly with proper introductions, so don't be shy if you plan to have them meet other cats! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Brian Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: male Age: 3 months (born 6/11/22) Weight: 3lbs Personality: Affectionate, Friendly, Easygoing, Adventurous, Curious, Playful, Energetic, Independent, Smart, Vocal Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Good with other cats and plays; best with a feline companion Observations with Kids: Ambivalent with kids House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Brian has two speeds: play and cuddle, and he is equally committed to both, with his whole heart. One moment, his favorite thing is to chase anything that crinkles. If you throw a toy for him, he'll joyfully race after it. But he can make his own fun, too, by shoving the toy along with his front paws and chasing it. The next moment, with a tiny chirp, he'll land in your lap, curl up, and nap hard. You can help him make that transition (sometimes) by tucking him into the crook of your arm and watching his eyes get heavy. Other times, he'll chase your hand like the toy it could be. Come on, you know it could be... He loves all other kitties, big/small, old/young, and is good at gauging how much older kitties (don't) want to play with him. With other littles, he likes roughhousing, but is easily distracted by a toy. Beautiful Brian is great with the litter box, his wet food, CHURUS, toys, all the people, and all the kitties. He's an energetic little guy who needs a kitty buddy to work that energy off with (you'll be SO HAPPY he has a buddy). He's been around kids who are good with cats, and just likes to play, but his play can be a litte bitey, so he might not be best suited for very small kids. He's such a good boy who's waiting for the good person who'll love him forever. He thinks that could be you. Apply today for sweet Brian! Brian's rescue was generously sponsored by Jessie and Kim Hillenbrand in memory of Brian T. Dog Teich. The kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. Other than these bold shows of affection, Bruno is a laid back cat. He gets along with the cat in his foster home, he eats anything, uses the litterbox faithfully, and can keep himself entertained. He especially likes playing with his toys at night and will leave them scattered around the apartment for you to find in the morning. Bruno is fine being picked up but doesn't care to be coddled like a baby, and his preferred sleeping spot is tucked in a cozy cave, like under the bed. Name: Car Kitten: Camaro Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Male Age: 3 months Weight: 3 lbs Personality: snuggler, quiet, shy, gentle, submissive, low-energy Observations with Dogs: No observations Observations with Cats: Would do best with a kitty buddy Observations with Kids: Afraid of kids House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: At the end of a long day, wouldn’t it be great to have a kitten who’ll stay in your lap for as long as you’ll pet him? That’s sweetheart Camaro. He’s all the kitten with none of the kitten crazy. This shy baby just needs some time to feel safe enough to come out of his shell. Once he’s comfortable, he’s up for playtime, snuggle time, and lounge in the sun time. Camaro is all about his brothers: you’ll nearly always find him piled on top of at least one of them; he’s also very curious about the big resident kitties. Mainly, he needs a kitty buddy to help him be brave (and just look at the gorgeous Car Kittens who’d be wonderful buddies for him!). He’s also ALL about his catnip mouse with—wait for it—a curly blue ribbon tail. And, when his playtime and your work time is done, he’ll be back in your lap, purring like crazy, and making kitten biscuits. To have that kind of day, every day, set up a time to meet this sweetest of all kitties. Camaro thanks you in advance.  ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Lucky for you, beautiful Tacoma is here for you. This snuggliest (and smallest) of all the Car Kittens loves the people, being cradled like a baby, getting toted around, and chasing any feather-related toy that a human might wave around for him. Including small humans, who he likes a lot. Handsome Tacoma is a fan favorite in his foster family’s neighborhood, since he loves all the neighbors who’ve come to meet him—and they love him back. (I mean, c’mon: those EARS. How can you not?) Tacoma lets you know how happy he is by purring like crazy at the drop of a hat. He loves chasing after his siblings and he’s made it his mission to de-feather his favorite zebra-striped ball with (fewer and fewer) feathers attached. Tacoma would be happiest with a kitty buddy, and you’ll be happy he has someone to run some kitten energy off with…so he can snuggle you even more. He’s the first to do anything, runs the fastest, jumps the highest, and is always the one who gets into the toy box and spreads them everywhere. Always. And, as a good leader, he wants everyone to be at ease: other kitties, new people (big and small), he loves them all and would like to be in the middle of the action. In fact, Tahoe’s internal narrative might go something like: whatcha doing? Can I help? Where are you going? I come? What’s in your hand? What’s behind the door? IS IT A TOY? No matter what you’re up to, Tahoe is there to help you. When he’s worn himself out, he’s SO happy to cuddle up in your lap and watch TV (and he looooves the iPad). This sweet, social boy would be a great addition to a household with kids or another kitty who needs a pal—Tahoe is just that confident and adaptable. He’d just like some feather wands, please, and his bonkers reaction will be its own reward. So set up a time to meet this goofy boy. He is not the least bit interested in scratching or chewing objects that are important to humans. Charlie will happily sit quietly wherever he's at and chill out, taking in the scenery, maybe reciting poems in his head. He loves to snuggle next to you, and leans in with happy little grunts and purrs when you scratch around his ears, but he is not a needy cat. He only occasionally meows and chirps, either in greeting or in response to having his name called. Charlie sits calmly in his carrier when he needs to go somewhere--no ball o' fury on the way to the vet! Charlie is just a peaceful and loving older cat who would probably be happiest in a quieter home. Apply today to meet Charlie! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.  Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. Name: Dash Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: female Age: 1 year Weight: 8lbs Personality: Affectionate, Shy, Friendly, Curious, Playful, Energetic Observations with Dogs: No observations Observations with Cats: No observations Observations with Kids: No observations House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Sweet Dash. This pretty, loving girl wonders if you might have a ball she could play with. Even better, she wonders if you’d like to play catch with her. Of course, she’d like to get to KNOW you first. I mean, she’s not the kind of girl who’ll walk out of her carrier and assume you’re hers. Dash will take her time to explore her new domain, starting with mapping the small spaces where she can feel safe. A little at a time, though, as she gets to know you and her new home, she’ll mix discovery missions in with her napping. And, before you know it, she’ll be asking you for pets and scritches and answering you back when you talk with her. (Wait ’til you hear her little noises. Heart: melted.) Beautiful Dash would do best in a home that’s not too busy or with too many little, dart-y, noisy people. But the people who give her time to settle in will be rewarded with the love of a wonderful kitty and an ongoing game of catch. And who can resist that? Apply today for Miss Dash. ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Delilah Suspected Breed(s): DLH Gender: female Age: 1 year Weight: 9lbs Personality: Affectionate, Curious, Playful, Energetic, Independent Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Good with other cats after a proper introduction Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Galax, VA Additional Information:  Delilah is a delightful, playful youngster who loves wand toys, ping pong balls, and paper bags. She's very good at keeping herself entertained but loves interaction as well. Delilah has a tiny little purr but quite the vocabulary--little trills, squeaks, and will meow when she feels the need. After a good session of the zoomies, she loves to lay on you or next to you for some nap time. She can be held for a short time and will close her eyes when you pet her, soaking it all up. She uses the scratching post and litter box like a champ and isn't into counter surfing. So, in short, Delilah is pretty much everything a delightful, playful, sweet cat should be. She has finished raising her kitties and is ready to be in a home of her own. She's been a great mom, raising a handsome litter of little sweeties, but now she loves to spend her days looking out the windows watching the birds, smelling the fresh air, and watching the day. Diana likes to be near her humans and will sit at your feet while you're working and sleep next to you, but she's not the type of cat who needs to be right on top of your lap all the time.
