About Copeland (Has Application)

Adoption Fee: $450 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Copeland
Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 74 lbs
Personality: Quick learner, playful, funny, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, snuggler, eager to please
Observations with Dogs: Copeland gets along with most dogs. As with all dogs, a proper introduction (like parallel walks prior to an off-leash intro) is a great way to help with canine harmony! He would love a home with a large dog to play with in the yard.
Observations with Cats: Untested
Observations with Kids: Copeland doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but he’s been excited to see the kids he's met and done well with them.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate
Location: Suburban Virginia
Rescued From: Roane County, WV
Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, and loving dog. He is super playful and pounces on toys like a panther. This good dog is goofy, happy, and inquisitive, much like his pup look-alike, Scooby Doo. Do you see it? Because we sure Scooby Dooby Do in this good-looking guy! Copeland has had the great opportunity to be staying with a trainer, and she reports that he loves to learn! He knows "let's go," "sit," "go to mat," "trade," "go get it," and "come." Like most dogs, he'd love a person who wants to continue to use positive training to engage him. Getting treats for winning your approval and being a good boy is Copeland's favorite part of life!

Copeland is leash reactive (meaning he barks on leash) so isn’t a great fit for the city, but he would make a terrific companion for someone with a house and yard for him to play in. Copeland is very loyal and bonds deeply with his caregivers — it would be hard to find a more affectionate and trusting dog than Copeland to be your next furry friend. He also enjoys making other human and canine friends. His best friend is a large female Malinois, but he’s spent time around dogs large and small and might love a canine companion to romp with in his new home. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland!

Winter

Name: Winter Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Female Age: 2 years Weight: 7lbs Personality: Quiet, Shy, Low Energy Observations with Dogs: Ignores dogs Observations with Cats: Protective of her kittens right now, so would rather another cat not come near them, but unreactive when she's not with the wee ones Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Galax, VA Additional Information: Winter is a beautiful grey haired, green eyed girl with the most magnificent white-tipped fluffy tail. She's been a busy and focused mama raising seven plump healthy babies and is ready to transition to the kid-free life. Winter is comfortable having both humans and dogs around, and with a little patience, she's happy to take some affection from you. Winter loves toys, treats, and catnip and plays like a kitten herself. The kids are currently 4 months old and nearly all adopted, so we expect to get a much better picture of her standalone personality once the wee ones are all resettled and she can fully come out of her 'protective mama' mode and her hormones get to settle down. We're looking forward to seeing how Winter's personality develops when she's living the carefree, kid-free life. There could be a sweet cuddler waiting to emerge when she's an empty nester. Apply today to meet Winter! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Zeigler

Name: Zeigler Suspected Breed(s): Boxer Mix Gender: Male Age: 8 years Weight: 67 lbs Personality: Friendly, sweet, easygoing, outgoing, smart, goofy/funny, patient, snuggler, affectionate, independent, calm, trustworthy, and adaptable. Observations with Dogs: Good with other dogs   Observations with Cats: Untested Observations with Kids: Untested living together. Zeigler LOVES meeting children when out on walks. His foster lives above a preschool/daycare and Ziggy enjoys greeting all the kids! House Training Progress: No recent accidents. Crate Training Progress: Zeigler is not a fan of the crate. Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Zeigler is truly one of a kind! Though his “formal” name is Zeigler, this silly boy prefers to be called Ziggy! With a fun nickname like that, you know he is always down for a good time. This sweetheart has the occasional playful side, but typically is content just chilling or napping in a comfy spot. The highlight of his day (not unlike the rest of us) is when his humans are done working and free to snuggle up on the couch, tucked into a blanket, and watch TV together! Ziggy is an absolute love bug and A+ cuddle buddy.  Not only is Ziggy a great couch potato companion, but he also is a keen observer. Enjoy people watching or just sitting around at the park passing the day? Ziggy is your guy! He is incredibly curious and observant, making him the perfect buddy for car rides, picnics, and exploring new places. He loves to be close to the action, and especially enjoys looking out the balcony. Ziggy is extremely smart and he already knows the words "sit," "outside," and "off". He is still building up his confidence to be alone for extended periods of time and would do best living with someone who works from home or is retired. His sunny disposition warms the heart of the dogs, people, and children he greets while out and about. As you might imagine, he has already made many new furry and human friends, due to his friendly and gentle nature, and the neighbors all know his name! He is such a happy pup, and his one eye somehow only doubles his cuteness/intensifies the "puppy dog eye", which he has mastered! Apply today to meet Zeigler “Ziggy”! __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application.
