About Copeland (Has Application)

Adoption Fee: $450 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Copeland
Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 74 lbs
Personality: Quick learner, playful, funny, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, snuggler, eager to please
Observations with Dogs: Copeland gets along with most dogs. As with all dogs, a proper introduction (like parallel walks prior to an off-leash intro) is a great way to help with canine harmony! He would love a home with a large dog to play with in the yard.
Observations with Cats: Untested
Observations with Kids: Copeland doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but he’s been excited to see the kids he's met and done well with them.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate
Location: Suburban Virginia
Rescued From: Roane County, WV
Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, and loving dog. He is super playful and pounces on toys like a panther. This good dog is goofy, happy, and inquisitive, much like his pup look-alike, Scooby Doo. Do you see it? Because we sure Scooby Dooby Do in this good-looking guy! Copeland has had the great opportunity to be staying with a trainer, and she reports that he loves to learn! He knows "let's go," "sit," "go to mat," "trade," "go get it," and "come." Like most dogs, he'd love a person who wants to continue to use positive training to engage him. Getting treats for winning your approval and being a good boy is Copeland's favorite part of life!

Copeland is leash reactive (meaning he barks on leash) so isn’t a great fit for the city, but he would make a terrific companion for someone with a house and yard for him to play in. Copeland is very loyal and bonds deeply with his caregivers — it would be hard to find a more affectionate and trusting dog than Copeland to be your next furry friend. He also enjoys making other human and canine friends. His best friend is a large female Malinois, but he’s spent time around dogs large and small and might love a canine companion to romp with in his new home. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland!

Name: Palmer Suspected Breed(s): DMH Gender: Male Age: 2 years Weight: 8 lbs Personality: Snuggler, Affectionate, Friendly, Curious, Energetic, Playful, Dominant Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Probably best as only cat Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Palmer is an affectionate, mischievous, bold young cat, and it's impossible not to love him. He demands attention, he insists on inspecting any food you plan to eat, he chews on necklaces while you are wearing them, and he doesn't recognize boundaries. He frequently wants to nuzzle his mouth against your nose. We're working on his breath. Palmer believes he belongs on the kitchen counters and occasionally with the dishes in the sink. Palmer follows you wherever you go, and is almost always right on your heels, like he doesn't want to be left out of anything, and doesn't trust you to include him (or thinks you need constant monitoring). He's a young adult, but he's still full of kittenish energy and exuberance. Despite all this personality, Palmer is a an absolute lovey-dovey little Napoleon.  Are you looking for a confident cat to complete your household? Apply today to meet Palmer! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. He especially likes to lie down on your chest and try to get his head right under your chin. Don’t be surprised if you wake up cheek to cheek with him on your pillow. If you have guests, Pax will happily entertain them with you—or take a cat nap, snuggled up next to your guests. He's never met a person he didn't like or encountered a situation he couldn't conquer right away! He's sweet, smart, easy-going, and wants to be where the action is! Jack is wonderful with other cats, he can be the life of the party, and he likes to sidle up next to you for a good snuggle session while you read or watch Netflix and chill. While Jack Jack is friendly and sweet, he can be a bit of a rapscallion when it comes to play time—he's working on shedding his pirate ways and occasionally needs to be re-directed from hands and feet when really excited, but he is easily distracted by feather wands and other toys. Know that although Jack managed to avoid scurvy during his pirate days, he did pick up a virus that affected his eyes, causing him to be mostly blind in his right eye and having a condition called Symblepharon in both eyes. Jack doesn't let any of this stop him though, and neither should you. This sweet, loving, fun boy is ready to trade in life on the high seas for a loving home with you. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.  Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less

Name: Rahini Suspected Breed(s): Terrier mix Gender: Female Age: 1-2 yrs old Weight: 26 lbs Personality: Friendly, quiet, eager-to-please, snuggler, gentle, affectionate, timid, goofy/funny, timid/fearful, loyal, and shy. Observations with Dogs: Rahini would do best as the only dog in a home. Observations with Cats: Untested Observations with Kids: Rahini would do best in a home without children. House Training Progress: No recent accidents Crate Training Progress: Rahini is still getting comfortable with her crate but is making good progress. Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Webster County, WV Additional Information: If you're in the market for an attentive and cuddly new BFF, Rahini may be your gal! Rahini is a low-energy sweetheart who loves to settle in for whatever cuddles you are ready to give (and receive). She thrives on daily routines and predictability, and always makes sure her people are close by. Most days, Rahini is a "velcro dog;" she is always happy to be hanging out with you, whether that means cuddling on your lap or just admiring you from afar.  A typical day for Rahini is snoozing indoors, followed by venturing outside for a quick sniff before returning to her happy place (the couch). While she is still getting used to being outside for longer periods of time, Rahini has been practicing her leash etiquette daily and would love a home that can continue guiding her through those tricky leash manners. A bit on the shy side, Rahini will look to her human for guidance and confirmation when she experiences new things. Once she knows you, she will happily curl up for cuddles or pets. Rahini is building up the courage to be home alone, and would do best with a home that can help her build up her confidence. She would make an excellent telework buddy, as she is more than happy to lounge by herself while you work! Because it takes her some time to warm up to new things, Rahini would thrive in a home where there aren't too many unexpected sounds and surprises. While it takes her a bit to open up and become accustomed to change, once she becomes comfortable Rahini is the most loving, sweet girl. Are you ready to curl up with this lovebug? Apply today to meet Rahini. __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application.
