About Copeland (Has Application)

Adoption Fee: $450 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Copeland
Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 74 lbs
Personality: Quick learner, playful, funny, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, snuggler, eager to please
Observations with Dogs: Copeland gets along with most dogs. As with all dogs, a proper introduction (like parallel walks prior to an off-leash intro) is a great way to help with canine harmony! He would love a home with a large dog to play with in the yard.
Observations with Cats: Untested
Observations with Kids: Copeland doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but he’s been excited to see the kids he's met and done well with them.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate
Location: Suburban Virginia
Rescued From: Roane County, WV
Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, and loving dog. He is super playful and pounces on toys like a panther. This good dog is goofy, happy, and inquisitive, much like his pup look-alike, Scooby Doo. Do you see it? Because we sure Scooby Dooby Do in this good-looking guy! Copeland has had the great opportunity to be staying with a trainer, and she reports that he loves to learn! He knows "let's go," "sit," "go to mat," "trade," "go get it," and "come." Like most dogs, he'd love a person who wants to continue to use positive training to engage him. Getting treats for winning your approval and being a good boy is Copeland's favorite part of life!

Copeland is leash reactive (meaning he barks on leash) so isn’t a great fit for the city, but he would make a terrific companion for someone with a house and yard for him to play in. Copeland is very loyal and bonds deeply with his caregivers — it would be hard to find a more affectionate and trusting dog than Copeland to be your next furry friend. He also enjoys making other human and canine friends. His best friend is a large female Malinois, but he’s spent time around dogs large and small and might love a canine companion to romp with in his new home. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland!

Name: Mimi Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Female Age: 10 weeks (as of early September) Weight: 2 lbs Personality: Shy, Curious, Independent, Playful, Vocal Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Would love to have a cat friend in her forever home Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Mimi is on the shy side, but if you play with her and give her affection, she'll come out of her (tortoise)shell to reveal her inner "tortitude!" Once she's had time to warm up to new people, she'll want to hang out nearby and practice her cat yoga, which mainly consists of adorable stretching and rolling. That's how you'll know you've gained her seal of approval! Contrary to first impressions, Mimi actually enjoys chatting and is a skilled communicator. She'll charm you with her sweet little mew and will request attention or treats when necessary. Mimi's favorite places to explore are tunnels. Is she a mere cat or a meerkat? With a love of tunneling as strong as hers, who knows?! Like many kittens and energetic cats, she gets the zoomies. To quench her thirst for play, provide her with toy mice or wave a feather wand and watch her go! Better yet, give her a companion cat to wrestle with. Double the playing kitties, double the fun! Apply to meet Mimi and her sisters! Gigi has had age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. Observations with Dogs: Missy is good with other dogs, including the resident chihuahua in her foster home. Observations with Cats: Untested Observations with Kids: Untested with young children House Training Progress: No recent accidents Crate Training Progress: Missy is great in her crate: she sleeps in it and goes in for naps on her own. Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Don’t miss out on Missy! Missy is such a gentle and loving girl who wants to make everyone around her happy. She especially LOVES humans and dogs: she just can’t wait for an opportunity to say hi! Missy does great with the five-year old resident chihuahua at her foster home and other doggo friends who come and visit. This happy pup is still working on containing her excitement when meeting people, sometimes she can’t help but jump with joy when meeting someone new! She is learning how to show her happiness in other ways. While Missy is a friend to all, she is also extremely loyal. She will contentedly be by your side whether you’re out in the garden, running errands around town, or just chilling on the couch (she is a 10/10 lapdog). Missy is one compact bundle of love and curiosity. Come join her during playtime! Missy is a great learner and has already picked up words like “sit,” “with me,” and “eyes on me,” which she practices during walks. Missy is excited to learn even more with her furever family (and chomp down on some delicious treats during a training session)! (Duly noting that all other CityKitties are also special. But. Morris! Read on...) This handsome fellow loves the people, the kitties, the dogs, and his food—not necessarily in that order. He is totally chill: while he adores pets and snuggles, he’ll wait for you to initiate. If you do, he’s all in with big purrs. His foster mom says that, if she picks Morris up and cuddles with him in bed, he’ll stay with her all night long, purring. But he’s good with his kitty bed, too. Morris is also an excellent supervisor, if you work from home: he’ll perch beside your desk to be near you, and is even willing to do his part to make sure your paperwork doesn’t blow away. Morris is thoughtful that way. He’s also a toy boi who will chase a feather stick or yarn ball, or, really, anything you’ve got. (And wait til you see the trick he’ll do for a treat!) Morris wants to be sure you know that chonks love playtime, too. More than anything, know that this incredibly sweet boy has seen some things and yet he’s the most wonderful, big-hearted kitty you’ll meet. Maybe he sounds like someone you know—maybe even you. Morris longs for someone to see his value and give him the forever home that he dreams of. Loving, playful, easy, helpful, loyal…Morris is perfect, really. Might you be his perfect person? He believes you’re out there, and he sure can’t wait to meet you! Apply today!  Morris has diabetes that is controlled with a low dose of daily insulin. ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Name: Oahu Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: Female  Age: 1 year Weight: 8 lbs Personality: Curious, Playful, Shy, Easygoing, Smart Observations with Dogs: Gets along with dogs Observations with Cats: Good with other cats and plays. Would love a friendly and active cat buddy. Observations with Kids: Best in a home with no small children House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Smyth County, VA Additional Information: Meet Oahu! She's playful, pretty, smart, likes looking out the window, and she'll give your hand kisses when she's really into a snuggle session. Oahu really likes chasing, playing, and wrestling with other cats, so she'd be super appreciative if you have a cat buddy in your home. She's smart (espeically when treats are involved) and she'd probably be up for learning some tricks. Oahu's favorite toy are the non-toy things in the house, like hair ties and socks. After Oahu is done with all that playing, she loves nothing more than to settle in for a good cuddle and quality time with the Property Brothers. Anything on HGTV will keep her happy, but there's something about Jonathan and Drew that keep her coming back. She's been caught playing with the remote (playing, or trying to turn on HGTV???) and will hang out behind the TV (merely exploring, or looking for her favorite home reno brothers???).  Oahu did spend some time in a rather restrictive home and she' a little shy as a result and skittish around strangers and small children, so she'd probably do best in a home without kids. If you're just looking for a buddy to keep your other cat(s) entertained and tuck in next to you for binge watching HGTV, Oahu is your girl.
