About Copeland

Adoption Fee: $450 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Copeland
Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 74 lbs
Personality: Quick learner, playful, funny, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, snuggler, eager to please
Observations with Dogs: Copeland gets along with most dogs. As with all dogs, a proper introduction (like parallel walks prior to an off-leash intro) is a great way to help with canine harmony! He would love a home with a large dog to play with in the yard.
Observations with Cats: Untested
Observations with Kids: Copeland doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but he’s been excited to see the kids he's met and done well with them.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate
Location: Suburban Virginia
Rescued From: Roane County, WV
Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, and loving dog. He is super playful and pounces on toys like a panther. This good dog is goofy, happy, and inquisitive, much like his pup look-alike, Scooby Doo. Do you see it? Because we sure Scooby Dooby Do in this good-looking guy! Copeland has had the great opportunity to be staying with a trainer, and she reports that he loves to learn! He knows "let's go," "sit," "go to mat," "trade," "go get it," and "come." Like most dogs, he'd love a person who wants to continue to use positive training to engage him. Getting treats for winning your approval and being a good boy is Copeland's favorite part of life!

Copeland is leash reactive (meaning he barks on leash) so isn’t a great fit for the city, but he would make a terrific companion for someone with a house and yard for him to play in. Copeland is very loyal and bonds deeply with his caregivers — it would be hard to find a more affectionate and trusting dog than Copeland to be your next furry friend. He also enjoys making other human and canine friends. His best friend is a large female Malinois, but he’s spent time around dogs large and small and might love a canine companion to romp with in his new home. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland!

Name: Abigail Suspected Breed(s): Retriever Mix Gender: Female Age: 2 years Weight: 58 lbs Personality: Eager-to-please, patient, loyal, playful, snuggler, outgoing, affectionate, mischievous, adaptable, goofy/funny, smart, gentle, and easygoing. Observations with Dogs: Abigail is good with other dogs, and she enjoys playing and wrestling with the resident dog in her foster home. Observations with Cats: Curious and playful with cat she visited, ultimately respecting cat's boundaries Observations with Kids: Has done well meeting kids House Training Progress: No recent accidents Crate Training Progress: Abigail does well in the crate. Location: DC area foster Rescued From: Bladen County, NC Additional Information: Abigail is a funny dog who prefers to speak for herself. So rather than write about her, we've given her a guest spot at the keyboard. Abigail says: “I’ve been described as a “very good dog,” but I’m working on making it to “great.” I’m about 2 yo and when you think about it, that’s perfect: I’m beyond most puppy shenanigans, but I have many years to give my new humans. So far, my house manners have been impeccable! None of that undignified jumping on people, counter surfing, or “accidents” inside. (Oh, wait: I DID chew slightly on the leg of a chair. I said I was MOSTLY beyond puppy shenanigans.)  I’m not a huge morning dog and will likely sleep as late as you do . . . but when I’m up, I’m ready to seize the day! My leash manners are pretty good . . . except when squirrels are involved; then I pull like the sled dog I was possibly meant to be! I love to play with toys and other dogs, and zoomies on hardwood floors make me look like I’m trying to tap dance. When the human and dog companions in the house want some time to themselves, I love to chew on Kongs, play with toys, puzzles, and games. I've also learned the word sit and am looking forward to learning more tricks with my forever humans. If you also enjoy snuggles and stopping to smell the roses when out on walks, won't you please apply to bring me home?" __________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. He's not very sneaky though because you can hear him purring most of the time. He's a very happy little kitty who will greet you at the door hoping for some love and attention. Aguilo is not afraid of people or other cats. He loves playing with his toys, climbing anything and everything, and taking naps in the sun on his window perch regardless of who is already napping there. He's a tiny thing but can hold his own in a wrestling match with the 10 month old resident cat in his foster home. Aguilo's favorite things to do are climb bookshelves, follow his brother Alfonso or the resident cat Bubba around, carry his mice around to play in different spots, and nap in the window perch. He's also very snuggly and affectionate and loves to be carried around. Aguilo is overall a wonderful, sweet, affectionate boy that longs for a forever home—could it be with you? He sure hopes so! Apply today to adopt Aurora! ________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.  Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less
