About Copeland (Has Application)

Adoption Fee: $450 for Adult Dogs and Puppies

Name: Copeland
Suspected Breed(s): Shepherd mix
Gender: Male
Age: 4 years old
Weight: 74 lbs
Personality: Quick learner, playful, funny, outgoing, affectionate, goofy, snuggler, eager to please
Observations with Dogs: Copeland gets along with most dogs. As with all dogs, a proper introduction (like parallel walks prior to an off-leash intro) is a great way to help with canine harmony! He would love a home with a large dog to play with in the yard.
Observations with Cats: Untested
Observations with Kids: Copeland doesn’t have a lot of experience with children, but he’s been excited to see the kids he's met and done well with them.
House Training Progress: No accidents
Crate Training Progress: Quiet in his crate
Location: Suburban Virginia
Rescued From: Roane County, WV
Additional Information: Copeland is a silly, fun, and loving dog. He is super playful and pounces on toys like a panther. This good dog is goofy, happy, and inquisitive, much like his pup look-alike, Scooby Doo. Do you see it? Because we sure Scooby Dooby Do in this good-looking guy! Copeland has had the great opportunity to be staying with a trainer, and she reports that he loves to learn! He knows "let's go," "sit," "go to mat," "trade," "go get it," and "come." Like most dogs, he'd love a person who wants to continue to use positive training to engage him. Getting treats for winning your approval and being a good boy is Copeland's favorite part of life!

Copeland is leash reactive (meaning he barks on leash) so isn’t a great fit for the city, but he would make a terrific companion for someone with a house and yard for him to play in. Copeland is very loyal and bonds deeply with his caregivers — it would be hard to find a more affectionate and trusting dog than Copeland to be your next furry friend. He also enjoys making other human and canine friends. His best friend is a large female Malinois, but he’s spent time around dogs large and small and might love a canine companion to romp with in his new home. Apply today to meet handsome Copeland!

He is a little bit wary of new people and settings, but it doesn't take long for him to warm up to you. He loves being held and will purr immediately after being picked up and cuddled. Alfonso also loves wrestling with his brother and the resident kitty in his foster home. His favorite toys are a mouse on a string, feather wand, and springs. He's pretty chatty and will let you know when he wants some love. If you let him, he will even sleep under the covers with you through the night. This sweet boy has so much love and charm to offer his forever person(s)—could that be you? Alfonso sure hopes so! Name: Angelica Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: female Age: 8 years Weight: 9 lbs Personality: Snuggler, Affectionate, Friendly, Adventurous, Curious, Playful, Energetic, Dominant, Smart Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Dominant in play with other cats, so likely best as a solo cat or with younger cats where she can be in charge of the playing Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From:  Additional Information: Angelica is a wonderful adult tabby, with magnificent markings, and a classic tabby temperament: friendly, loves lots of pets & snuggles, and she'll sleep on your chest and put her paws around your neck in a hug. She's also very curious, energetic, playful, and has tons of personality - even her facial expressions are fascinating. Angelica is perfect for a house where she is either the only cat, or where she can be the alpha cat with younger pets. Angelica isn't like *mean* alpha, but a play alpha. She's been in a house with an older cat who doesn't play back and seems a bit let down by that, so she might do good with a younger cat she can play with. Angelica is shy at first, but don't let that fool you - she's very much her own cat, but always quick to let you know her love is unconditional. Name: Bailey Suspected Breed(s): DSH Gender: male Age: 1 year Weight: 9lbs Personality: Affectionate, Quiet, Gentle, Friendly, Curious Observations with Dogs: Unknown Observations with Cats: Good with other cats and ignores Observations with Kids: Unknown House Training Progress: Good litterbox manners Location: DC area foster home Rescued From: Wythe County, VA Additional Information: Bailey is a beautiful and regal cat who carries himself with a sphinx-like calm air. He is very affectionate and loves attention but is also happy to hang out by himself and does not need to be with you constantly. Bailey is not a cat to demand your constant attention, rather he is that true friend who stays by your side through thick and thin. He is a little shy of loud noises and has displayed an amazing ability to squeeze himself into tiny, safe spaces. Don't worry, when you call him he will pull himself back out ready for some love and attention. Bailey loves the sound of running water and will come running when he hears any! He'll then demand fresh cold water in his bowl and then lap contentedly. In his free time, Bailey loves to look out the window at the city life going by. When he's had an eyeful, he'll find a nice quiet spot to take a nap in the sunshine, or crawl back underneath the dresser for a nap where he won't be disturbed. Kolsch is a bright, clear, lightly-hopped ale...er, cute, sweet, playful kitten looking for a special home where she can come out of her shell. Right now Kolsch is a little skittish, but who can blame her? She came from a hoader situation, in a house with dozens of cats. She is playful with her siblings, but she is still shy with humans. We're pretty sure that Kolsch will blossom in a forever home where she's given a little time to acclimate and realize that this life with humans thing is pretty darn great. Are you the human for Kolsch? Apply today! The kittens have age-appropriate vetting to date, which includes a veterinary exam, deworming, microchip, and the first FVRCP vaccine. An adopter will need to agree to cover costs of spay/neuter when he/she is age-appropriate (usually 16-20 weeks) and will need to continue his/her kitten vaccines (including rabies) as he/she grows older. Kittens under 12 weeks of age must be adopted in pairs or to a home with friendly resident feline. They will not be considered as singles. Apply for a CAT: www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adopt-a-city-kitty.html City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.  Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV, when age appropriate, but not when born to a negative mother in foster care.  Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained. We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs. show less
