This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.  Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.  Our greatest need is for foster volunteers who have dog experience. We often have foster dogs that require some kind of behavioural training, or have medical needs, so if you have experience in either of these areas please apply now. Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.   What does it cost? As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency What if I can only foster a small dog? We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home. We are always looking for foster homes that can accomodate big dogs. What if I only want to foster a puppy? Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun! What if I want to adopt? If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.  I only want to foster a specific dog. If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found. We really need more experienced foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog. Hello everyone. My name is Alfie and here is a little info about me: Breed: Maltese Mix Age: 5 years Gender: Male     Weight: 7.3 lb Height: 28 cm Highlight(s): Good with other dogs, no sign of aggression, no escape tendency, no car sickness My lovely resuer found me in an animal hoarder's house in Asan, Korea with about 100 other dogs. The condition of the house I was living in was miserable as most of us were malnutritioned and underweight. Some of my friends had broken legs that were never treated and you could only imagine how painful it must have been. My resuer and few other organizations made our abusive owner to relinquish the ownership and we were rushed to be neutered/spayed and transferred to no-kill shelter.  Last August, I was fostered in a home with a small dog for one month and I settled in perfectly.  I am very friendly to humans, even to strangers. I love to snuggle and ask for pets. Once I open up, I would show my belly and allow you to lift me up. When you make an eye-contact, I will run to you right away as I have so much love to give. I will definitely make a perfect lap dog.   I am also very good with other dog regardless of the size. I'm more comfortable to live in a house with another dog similar to my size.  You will see I am friendly, and very affectionate with no escape tendency and no resource guarding issues toward people. I can growl at other dogs when approaching my food though. So maybe best to feed me separate if you have another dog that doesn't understand those boundaries. You'll find me sometimes bark at strangers and when demanding something.  I enjoy outdoor activities and like to rest/chill out at home after walks.  Energy Level: Low-Moderate I get along with: Dogs: yes Cats: yes Kids: yes Fears: Unknown/none observed. On my last visit to the vet, I was told that as I get older, I may have to deal with some cataract on my left eye. It’s very common amongst dogs and can easily be managed with the right supplements! None of that takes away from my awesomeness though….. My missing teeth have not stopped me from eating softened dry food or wet food and your'll be surprised to see how big my appetite is.  My adoption fee is $800.00 CAD plus applicable taxes. I am a beautiful and very happy girl, but that hasn't always been true for me. I used to live in the Middle East where at the very tender age of eight months I became pregnant. I was much too young to become a mother and all my puppies died. In addition my rear leg had been badly damaged, probably from being hit by a car. In the country I come from, dogs are considered vermin and people often deliberately hit us with their cars in an attempt to kill us. The wounds became badly infected and I was in terrible pain by the time I was finally rescued. The vet I was taken to wasn't able to save my leg and it had to be amputated. Despite this I am very mobile and can easily climb stairs. I can't go on long hikes but normal length walks are perfect for me.  I am a very loving and affectionate girl who has a real love of life. I enjoy the company of other dogs once I trust them and currently live happily with several dogs of all sizes. However, it takes me a few visits for me to feel safe with other dogs. So it is difficult for a potential adopter to take the time I need to get me familiar with their dog. So a home without another dog is best for me. I am happy being the only dog in the home as my true love is people. I have the cutest habit of splaying my front legs out wide when I want you to play with me. And if you pet me and stop and I want some more, I will wrap my front legs around yours to trap you and keep you with me. Adorable, right?  I am a really easy dog to care for, and to love. I very much enjoy being outside so a fenced yard is important to me. Because of my distrust of dogs I don't know, I am reactive to other dogs when walked on leash, so it would be best if I was walked where I won't run into a lot unfamiliar dogs.  A trainer who has worked with me is confident that the more exposure to unfamiliar dogs I get, the more relaxed I will be with them. Unfortunately my foster mom isn't able to give me that exposure as she lives with several dogs on five fenced acres which is where we do our walking and exploring. The good part is that even though I am reactive on walks towards unfamiliar dogs, I can't pull hard on the leash due to my missing rear leg so I am easy to control.  While I am a joyful soul, I am not at all hyper or high energy. At home, I am very calm and relaxed. My favourite thing to do is lie on my bed, chewing on a marrow bone or a chew stick. There is no way you could be unhappy with me around.  I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. I am a 2 yr old, male German Shepard mix. My weight is 110 lbs. My first owner brought me home when I born, but locked me in the basement for 8 months. Consequently, I was very scared and afraid of people. My current adoptor is rehoming me as she wants me to experience the richness of being loved. I am good with family members, including the kids. I am too strong for her to train my social skills in the park though. When I see other dogs, I am too excited and pull her down. I am good with the other family dogs once I get to know who they are, but need help introducing to strange dogs or people, as I just get too excitable. Because I am large, sone other dogs get intimidated and bark which causes me to get protective. I nipped someone who was too close to our fence once. Nothing bad, but they reported it. I do know basic obedience, sit, stay and such. So a more suitable situation is one where I have a strong owner that can help me. I have had some additio al training too. I am really such a good boy. I had been hit by a car and was left to die on the side of the road. Thankfully My Good Samaritan took me to the vet, however it was too late for saving my back legs. I love other dogs, but not the greatest fan of cats and better not around kids. Best a home free of those for my future. It would be terrific if I could have a little grassy yard to play in. I am capable of walking on my two front legs for many, many miles. I never get tired of roaming around. Hoping you like exploring, because I do. Probably best not to have a home with stairs. My name is Atish (Lucia) and here is some information about me. Breed: Anatolian Shepherd mix Age: 5,5 years Gender: Female Weight: 34 kg Height: 65cm Shoulder width: 25cm Please, please consider adopting me, so I can leave the Middle East straight away. I’m a lovely girl, but I’ve had some hard times over the past years. I was probably born on the streets, but nobody really knows. Somehow my hip was fractured when I was one year old, and a kind person took me to the vet for surgery. Afterwards, I was taken to a boarding house for dogs. For a time, I felt safe, but then I was told that I would be spayed and released back onto those scary streets again. Luckily, a LALDR supporter in the Middle East found out about my situation and helped me to stay off the streets.  Unfortunately, I needed more surgery for a bowel torsion where I lost a lot of blood and needed a transfusion. I almost died , but I was not ready to give up. To keep me safe, I was moved between shelters and boarding houses. As my nutrition was not great, I developed anemia for a while. Once I was moved to a better place, and given the right nutrition, I recovered quickly. Now, after all I have been through, I am very healthy and looking for my forever home. Although my life has been challenging, my rescuers say I am a kind and loving dog. I tend to be calm and not too excitable. I get on with other dogs and have not been reactive towards cats. I have shown no aggression or food guarding.   I enjoy getting attention from both men and women especially if I get lots of pets - they are the best!! I’m told I get on well with little people too.    I’m hoping you can see what a wonderful companion I would be. I have so much resilience and just need to be in a stable home surrounded by people who love me. Hi there, my name is Ava. I am a gentle and loving 1.5 year old, 22 kg Canaan Dog mix breed I was rescued when I was only a few months old from the streets of a middle eastern city. A good Samaritan was feeding the neighborhood dogs and noticed me very skinny and sick and not eating.https://youtu.be/5RqsYHOiNCY Someone had also cut my ears off. I was a complete mess! She took me to the vet and got me treatment for parvovirus, I am all healed now.https://youtu.be/gROB-MR89zI and living happily in a foster home in Vancouver. I love to play with other dogs so very much so would love to live with another young playful dog. I am very social with other dogs and, although I am a bit shy with new people at first, it doesn't take me long to warm up to them. I haven’t been tested with kids but I am most likely good with them since I am practically a kid myself! My energy level is moderate to high so I am best suited for an active family. Hello everyone! I am a marvelous 5 year old, 50 lb probably Shar Pei/ Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. But there are other breeds in me as well as I am smaller than either of those breeds If you are looking for a medium size dog who is sweet and loving, cuddly, athletic and playful, then I am your girl.  I am originally from Turkey, where I was found on the streets of Istanbul before being taken to a shelter. I was named Banu, which is Persian for “lady” because I am very refined and lady-like.  When I first came to Canada I went to live on a farm, but it turned out the rabbits and chickens were a little too much temptation for me so my family reluctantly decided I needed to find a home free of small animals. I haven’t lived with cats but it is expected that my prey drive will make it unlikely I can live with them.  I have lived with numerous other dogs, and I am proud to say that I got along well in a dog-pack and enjoyed the large yard, rambles in nature, and the company of other dogs. But I am just as happy to be your only one and have all your attention for myself.   In 2021, I underwent successful entropian eye surgery. My eyelashes were growing inward toward my eyeballs! Thankfully, the operation was a success and I healed perfectly. I am a quiet and sedate girl when hanging out at home. But when it comes time to play outside, I will pounce and leap and sprint and even rock climb. I am quite the adventurer. My greatest joy is having an opportunity to enjoy off-leash hikes where I can follow animal scents and bound up and down hill, while my humans slowly plod along. So an active home where I can get a couple of daily walks and a couple of hikes a week is best for me. A large fenced yard where we can have playtime together is also important for me as I love spending time outside sniffing and checking out the squirrels. Once I’ve had my outdoor time, I am happy to spend long hours napping, preferably cuddled up to a warm human. I enjoy being close and snuggling, often resting my head on whatever part of you makes a convenient cushion. I am a perfect, low maintenance companion for someone who wants a warm, quiet and non-demanding companion. I am great with dogs, even ones I meet on walks who aren't so friendly. If I get snapped at by another dog I just back away, understanding they aren't interested in making friends.  I have lived with a child so can happily live with those small creatures as well.  Like most dogs I don’t like my feet touched but unlike most dogs, I don’t like my belly rubbed. I am very happy when you rub my head and back, however. I just LOVE human attention and affection! Everyone who meets me falls immediately in love with my gentle calm and friendly manner. I will give perfect strangers a kiss on the face. I have adapted quickly to family rhythms and my anxiousness is dissipating. I've become much more relaxed and less high strung. With a regular routine and boundaries, and some constant human companionship to share, I'm turning out to be less energy demanding than they initially pegged me for. So, I will work out terrific for some lucky family. Am I not just the most handsome GQ dog you've ever seen? Well, I have personality to go with my looks too. Rescued in the Fall of 2022 by a university student in Mexico, I was in bad shape, due to dehydration, malnutrition and flat out exhaustion. I was found on a dangerously busy street, where I had been wandering for days, seemingly lost. But my rescuer readily took care of that by giving me great care. She noticed I seemed familiar with a home environment, so I may have been dumped. A vet visit in November 2022 gave me A1 marks for health. She is unable to continue caring for me though, so wants to find me a great home in Canada. Want a superb dog on leash (easily corrected), you found him. I have a calm indifference to passing by people and other dogs. When there is interaction, it is with a confident and friendly demeanour. I was spending 2 days a week at a local pet daycare and lovingly referred to as “Mr. Popular”, as all the other dogs would gravitate towards me for playtime and affection. I enjoy playing a casual game of fetch (who doesn't?) I know a couple commands too, like sit and shaking a paw. I am a pro at riding in vehicles. Generally good with off leash recall, but of course, I will need to bond with and relearn it with my new person before attempting this. I'm a smart guy though, so shouldn't be hard. Food motivation works well for me too. I'm a fast learner. I really need a solid long daily walk/run/play/fetch session to take the edge off. A couple hours a day works well. Doggie daycare works good too. I'm never rambunctious, just have a solid energy level. Not much of a barker, maybe if there is commotion, I'll let out a bark or two, but I am easily shushed. Being one who enjoys following you around, if you move to another room, I will follow and resettle. I do bond pretty good, so may get a tad anxious if you leave and want to go with you. Training to build up my comfort level on this would help. Likely just learning my new home boundaries and getting into a routine should help relax me fine. I would love most any home... one with an active family, one with other dogs or kids or cats (supervised yet with a bit more training) or all the above. It's all fine with me.
