Hi hiya. My name is ABBIE (Abby) and here is a little info about me: Breed: Lab/Bernese Mtn Dog Age: 6 yrs (almost 7) Gender: female Weight: 65 lbs Height: tbd Highlight(s): loving, friendly, playful, energetic, smart As a very loving dog with a huge heart of gold, it becomes immediately apparent once you meet me. My current family has to downsize and unfortunately, they just no longer have the time, money and space to provide me with the life they know I deserve. You see, I have allergies and take immunotherapy for the issue, which helps keep most of my symptoms at bay. I have suffered from chronic ear allergies, but they are more seasonal and regular grooming helps reduce flare ups. Despite these things, I am quite happy, healthy and energetic. I still have plenty of the labbie exuberance for life and actually display both breed characteristics, though probably moreso the labbie ones. I'm a friendly girl with people and get along fine with other dogs (though aside from saying hi, not really all that interested), having lived with another for 4 years. I have been around cats a bit, but not for long periods, so not sure how living with one would be. I enjoy being around people, getting petted and just hanging out. I've spent a lot of time around children and am very friendly with them, including children as young as 4 and 6 years. Typical fun for me is water play, balls, and food. Yeee-uuup, I am food motivated. That will lend well to my learning lots of doggie tricks, which I must say I know many already. I have a loud Bernesey bark when someone knocks on the door, but other than that, I am pretty quiet. I guess I can get a bit excited when someone forst arrives and jump, nibble and all. Ideally, I'd love a home that can provide two good walks a day. I am good on leash most of the time, "squirrel"... ahem, but when I see a squirrel, I may suddenly pull. While I did live in an apartment for a year, a home with a yard is much more ideal for me. I would also love plenty of family to love on. This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.  Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.  Our greatest need is for foster volunteers who have dog experience. We often have foster dogs that require some kind of behavioural training, or have medical needs, so if you have experience in either of these areas please apply now. Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.   What does it cost? As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency What if I can only foster a small dog? We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home. We are always looking for foster homes that can accomodate big dogs. What if I only want to foster a puppy? Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun! What if I want to adopt? If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.  I only want to foster a specific dog. If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found. Hello there! My name is Aleck, and I have an incredible story to share with you. Rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea in 2021, I narrowly escaped a life of unimaginable hardship. Now, I'm ready to embark on a new chapter filled with love, joy, and endless tail wags. Here's a little more about me: Breed: Jindo mix Age: 4 years Gender: male     Weight: 51 lb Height:   cm Highlight(s): Calm, Happy, Rarely Bark People Lover: Despite my challenging past, I have a heart full of love for humans. I'm not shy around strangers and quickly warm up to new faces. During my first visit to the vet, I even approached the nurses with confidence, eagerly accepting treats. I can't wait to shower my forever family with affection and loyalty. Dog-Friendly: I get along splendidly with other dogs! Currently staying at a doggy hotel, I've become accustomed to the company of my furry friends. I'm well-behaved and don't cause any trouble. Hello everyone. My name is Almond and here is a little info about me: Breed: Labrador mix Age: 1,5 years Gender: Female     Weight: 40 lb Height: 55 cm Highlight(s): Good with other dogs, cats, people, no sign of aggression, no escape tendency, no car sickness My lovely rescuer found me and a number of my freinds, in the back of a truck on our way to be euthanized. She actually had to pay the driver to convince him to surrender us. Needless to say, we were all over the moon, not believing how lucky we were. I have been living at the shelter with my rescue mom and other furry friends for the past year or so and can not wait to find my forever familly. I am very friendly to humans of all ages, even to strangers. I love to snuggle and if you are ok with it, I have plenty of doggie kisses to give. I enjoy meeting new friends at the shelter, in fact, I am responsible for welcoming all the new rescues that my mom brings to the shelter. I have a calm demeanour but at the same time, I enjoy running around and playing with toys.    I am also very good with other dogs regardless of their size so I am very comfortable living in a house with another dog. My rescue mom has been training me to walk on lead. She says I am a very smart girl and eager to learn. I have no problem sharing my space and toys with other dogs and have never been seen guarding my food. My rescue mom keeps telling me what a well behaved girl I am.  I enjoy outdoor activities and like to rest/chill out at home after walks. Given my young age, I do need daily walks and activities. I am a beautiful and very happy girl, but that hasn't always been true for me. I used to live in the Middle East where at the very tender age of eight months I became pregnant. I was much too young to become a mother and all my puppies died. In addition my rear leg had been badly damaged, probably from being hit by a car. In the country I come from, dogs are considered vermin and people often deliberately hit us with their cars in an attempt to kill us. The wounds became badly infected and I was in terrible pain by the time I was finally rescued. The vet I was taken to wasn't able to save my leg and it had to be amputated. Despite this I am very mobile and can easily climb stairs. I can't go on long hikes but normal length walks are perfect for me.  I am a very loving and affectionate girl who has a real love of life. I enjoy the company of other dogs once I trust them and currently live happily with several dogs of all sizes. However, it takes me a few visits for me to feel safe with other dogs. So it is difficult for a potential adopter to take the time I need to get me familiar with their dog. So a home without another dog is best for me. I am happy being the only dog in the home as my true love is people. I have the cutest habit of splaying my front legs out wide when I want you to play with me. And if you pet me and stop and I want some more, I will wrap my front legs around yours to trap you and keep you with me. Adorable, right?  I am a really easy dog to care for, and to love. I very much enjoy being outside so a fenced yard is important to me. In fact, I don't need or want to go on walks. Because of my missing rear leg, I find walking too strenuous and much prefer hanging out with my person inside the home or outside in the yard. A covered deck for me to hang out on, watching birds and squirrels, is ideal for me. While I am a joyful soul, I am not at all hyper or high energy. At home, I am very calm and relaxed. My favourite thing to do is lie on my bed, chewing on a marrow bone or a chew stick. There is no way you could be unhappy with me around.  I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. Walks on front legs, joyful I am one hap hap happy girl... all the time. Just being alive is such a joy. My rescuer found me at 3 months old. I had been hit by a car and was left to die on the side of the road. Thankfully My Good Samaritan took me to the vet, however it was too late for saving my back legs. I love other dogs, but not the greatest fan of cats and better not around kids.  Best a home free of those for my future.  Also, best to be with only larger dogs or as the only dog.  It would be terrific if I could have a little grassy yard to play in. I am capable of walking on my two front legs for many, many miles. I never get tired of roaming around. Hoping you like exploring, because I do. Probably best not to have a home with stairs. A ramp on just a few stairs is probably fine. Not much else is going to slow me down. Energy Level: moderate I get along with: Dogs: yes Cats: no Kids: no Fears: unknown/none observed. Greetings everyone. My name is BALOO and here is a little info about me: Breed: Australian Shepard/Canaan Dog mix Age: 3 months Gender: male Weight: tbd, ~ 12 lbs Highlight(s): playful, happy, interactive, social, strong, smart Being a growing boy, I love my food... and well many things, life is all new to me. Discovered alone in the Republic of Georgia with my 3 other siblings during a flood, my mom never came back. Glad there were loving people who helped save us. I enjoy playing with and love to meet new people and pets. I even like when strangers pet me. I'm very gentle and friendly. I always sit and wag my tail for you. Yup, I'm a happy boy. My foster is working on my potty training, so hoping I'll be "in the know" better by the time I arrive in Canada. I'm of a typical puppy energy, but smart for learning. I walk well on a leash outside for a youngster. I also travel well, as my people take me on the bus and subway. Pretty cool, hunh? Though I am the smallest of the litter, I am still a strong boy. I can be a bit shy when meeting strangers but it doesn't take me long to consider you my new best friend. My previous owners bought me from a breeder with the intent of breeding me. They did not train me or exercise me so I got my energy out the only way a puppy can, by getting into mischief. This resulted in me being kept in a crate or a tiny hallway with the door shut. I was even hit on occasion resulting in me being very timid around the people who should have been showing me love. Once I was no longer a puppy my family lost all interest in me to the point that I was very close to being euthanized. I wisely ran away and found a loving person who contacted LALDR who immediately took me in. I am now in a foster home and am deliriously happy there.  I adore people and other dogs but I am a bit too curious about cats so a home without a cat would be great. I am a very gentle and loving soul. My foster mom says I am just about perfect. I love going for walks so an active home would suit me best. I also love going to the dog park and playing with other dogs.
