Additional Information: Penelope wants to spend pumpkin spice season in a forever home; no autumn is complete without cozy days spent reading without a smarty cat curled up at your side! Though the loveliness of a black cat lasts all year round, Penelope says this is her time to shine, especially with her eyes the color of golden leaves.
She is good at keeping the peace and winning over other cats that may not be as into making friends as she is with her patience and persistence. Penelope can be adventurous and independent and likes to play, but also appreciates the opportunity to hang out quietly with you on your bed or sofa. She is quite fetching and can’t wait to find out what you’ll be reading together. Apply now, please.

City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is a foster based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. We focus on local adoptions in DC and the metro area of Maryland and Virginia. CDR&CK has a thorough adoption process in order to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first served model).
Adoption fees: Cats - $150 (unless otherwise noted)
Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter (unless specified). We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam prior to adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDR&CK. City Dogs Rescue & City Kitties is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us.
Cat specific: Rabies, FVRCP, Feline Leukemia vaccines. They are tested for FIV and FeLV.
Most cats and dogs will have a house training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
We also update our Facebook page daily with new cats and dogs.
