This is the application that you should use if you are looking to apply to foster a dog AND ARE NOT planning to adopt.  Foster homes are one of the most important parts of any dog rescue. Without these homes, we wouldn't be able to rescue as many dogs as we do.  Our greatest need is for foster volunteers who have dog experience. We often have foster dogs that require some kind of behavioural training, or have medical needs, so if you have experience in either of these areas please apply now. Fostering is agreeing to take a dog into your home, temporarily, while the rescue is receiving and reviewing applications for adoption.   What does it cost? As a foster home, we can provide you with food, collar, leash. We will also cover any vet bills, but please speak to your foster coordinator before taking the dog to the vet unless its an emergency What if I can only foster a small dog? We will work with the limitations of our foster homes. If you are asked to foster a dog that is too big, please just let us know and we will look for another home. We are always looking for foster homes that can accomodate big dogs. What if I only want to foster a puppy? Puppies are usually very easy to adopt and often don't need fostering. Please consider an older dog that could be even more fun! What if I want to adopt? If your intent is to adopt a dog, you will need to submit an adoption application for review.  I only want to foster a specific dog. If you want a specific dog and only that dog, we recommend that you apply to adopt. International dogs are not normally available for fostering as we try to only bring them here if an approved adopter has been found. We really need more experienced foster homes and appreciate you reading this posting. I hope that you consider opening your heart and your home to help a dog in need. The love and care that you can provide for even a short period, will make a huge difference in the life of a dog. Hello there! My name is Aleck, and I have an incredible story to share with you. Rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea in 2021, I narrowly escaped a life of unimaginable hardship. Now, I'm ready to embark on a new chapter filled with love, joy, and endless tail wags. Here's a little more about me: Breed: Jindo mix Age: 4 years Gender: male     Weight: 51 lb Height:   cm Highlight(s): Calm, Happy, Rarely Bark People Lover: Despite my challenging past, I have a heart full of love for humans. I'm not shy around strangers and quickly warm up to new faces. During my first visit to the vet, I even approached the nurses with confidence, eagerly accepting treats. I can't wait to shower my forever family with affection and loyalty. Dog-Friendly: I get along splendidly with other dogs! Currently staying at a doggy hotel, I've become accustomed to the company of my furry friends. I'm well-behaved and don't cause any trouble. Together, we can enjoy fun playdates and create lasting memories. I have not shown any aggression towards people and other dogs. I also have no resource guarding issues towards people and other dogs. Hello everyone. My name is Almond and here is a little info about me: Breed: Labrador mix Age: 1,5 years Gender: Female     Weight: 41 lb Height: 55 cm Highlight(s): Good with other dogs, cats, people, no sign of aggression, no escape tendency, no car sickness My lovely rescuer found me and a number of my freinds, in the back of a truck on our way to be euthanized. She actually had to pay the driver to convince him to surrender us. Needless to say, we were all over the moon, not believing how lucky we were. I have been living at the shelter with my rescue mom and other furry friend for the past year or so and can not wait to find my forever familly. I am very friendly to humans of all ages, even to strangers. I love to snuggle and if you are ok with it, I have plenty of doggien kisses to give. I enjoy meeting new friends at the shelter, in fact, I am responsible for welcoming all the new rescues that my mom brings to the shelter. I have a calm demeanour but at the same time, I enjoy running around and playing with toys.    I am also very good with other dogs regardless of their size so I am very comfortable living in a house with another dog. My rescue mom has been training me to walk on lead. She says I am a very smart girl and eager to learn. I have no problem sharing my space and toys with other dogs and have never been seen guarding my food. My rescue mom keeps telling me what a well behaived girl I am.  I enjoy outdoor activities and like to rest/chill out at home after walks. Given my young age, I do need daily walks and activities. I am a beautiful and very happy girl, but that hasn't always been true for me. I used to live in the Middle East where at the very tender age of eight months I became pregnant. I was much too young to become a mother and all my puppies died. In addition my rear leg had been badly damaged, probably from being hit by a car. In the country I come from, dogs are considered vermin and people often deliberately hit us with their cars in an attempt to kill us. The wounds became badly infected and I was in terrible pain by the time I was finally rescued. The vet I was taken to wasn't able to save my leg and it had to be amputated. Despite this I am very mobile and can easily climb stairs. I can't go on long hikes but normal length walks are perfect for me.  I am a very loving and affectionate girl who has a real love of life. I enjoy the company of other dogs once I trust them and currently live happily with several dogs of all sizes. However, it takes me a few visits for me to feel safe with other dogs. So it is difficult for a potential adopter to take the time I need to get me familiar with their dog. So a home without another dog is best for me. I am happy being the only dog in the home as my true love is people. I have the cutest habit of splaying my front legs out wide when I want you to play with me. And if you pet me and stop and I want some more, I will wrap my front legs around yours to trap you and keep you with me. Adorable, right?  I am a really easy dog to care for, and to love. I very much enjoy being outside so a fenced yard is important to me. Because of my distrust of dogs I don't know, I am reactive to other dogs when walked on leash, so it would be best if I was walked where I won't run into a lot unfamiliar dogs.  A trainer who has worked with me is confident that the more exposure to unfamiliar dogs I get, the more relaxed I will be with them. Unfortunately my foster mom isn't able to give me that exposure as she lives with several dogs on five fenced acres which is where we do our walking and exploring. The good part is that even though I am reactive on walks towards unfamiliar dogs, I can't pull hard on the leash due to my missing rear leg so I am easy to control.  While I am a joyful soul, I am not at all hyper or high energy. At home, I am very calm and relaxed. My favourite thing to do is lie on my bed, chewing on a marrow bone or a chew stick. There is no way you could be unhappy with me around.  I am spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. I am a 2 yr old, male German Shepard mix. My weight is 110 lbs. My first owner brought me home when I born, but locked me in the basement for 8 months. Consequently, I was very scared and afraid of people. My current adoptor is rehoming me as she wants me to experience the richness of being loved. I am good with family members, including the kids. I am too strong for her to train my social skills in the park though. When I see other dogs, I am too excited and pull her down. I am good with the other family dogs once I get to know who they are, but need help introducing to strange dogs or people, as I just get too excitable. Because I am large, sone other dogs get intimidated and bark which causes me to get protective. I nipped someone who was too close to our fence once. Nothing bad, but they reported it. I do know basic obedience, sit, stay and such. So a more suitable situation is one where I have a strong owner that can help me. I have had some additio al training too. I am really such a good boy. There will be a modest adoption fee. My vaccinations are up to date and I am neutered. I am also housetrained... score. Walks on front legs, joyful I am one hap hap happy girl... all the time. Just being alive is such a joy. My rescuer found me at 3 months old. I had been hit by a car and was left to die on the side of the road. Thankfully My Good Samaritan took me to the vet, however it was too late for saving my back legs. I love other dogs, but not the greatest fan of cats and better not around kids.  Best a home free of those for my future.  Also, best to be with only larger dogs or as the only dog.  It would be terrific if I could have a little grassy yard to play in. I am capable of walking on my two front legs for many, many miles. I never get tired of roaming around. Hoping you like exploring, because I do. Probably best not to have a home with stairs. My name is BARK TWAIN (Bamdad) and here is a little info about me: Breed: Pointer/Terrier mix Age: 7 months Gender: Male Weight: 40 pounds Height: 14 inches Highlight(s): friendly, Eager to learn, energetic, intelligent, independent Update to Bark Twain - I am told I am an absolutely charming dog!  I attended a dog event where there were many people and dogs and I was a gentleman 100% of the time.  I was composed, social, and friendly with everyone.  I am housetrained.   My energy is average for a puppy.  I like walks, but am not hyper, and I can adapt and be calm and focused.  Also, I am not a barker, but more a quiet little dude.  I am sooooo cute.    Being an intelligent guy, I am eager to learn and I listen well to commands. In fact, I'm a just plain a good listener for any of your woes, if you want an ear who cares. Rescued off the streets in the Middle East, my Mom, brother and myself were found very weak. It was so hard to find food to sustain us. My name, Bamdad, in my language translates to 'early morning', because that is when they found me.  As my namesake has quoted, "Give every day a chance to become the most beautiful day of your life." I will be happy to help create that for you. So every morning I can bring you a smile of happiness for you to start your day with joy. I know my name quite well too.  I'm a friendly boy with an independent and energetic spirit. I'm a puppy, after all. I need to explore the world to learn. But, along with the puppy energy, there is also the thoughtful, contemplative side of me. You'll find me easy to train, as I enjoy learning. Heck, you don't even need treats and I pick things up right away. I have been living in a home, so I know my potty manners. I'm also pretty good on leash too. Told you I was smart. I know some commands, but will need to learn them in English yet. Then you can have a bilingual dog who knows woofsi and wooflish. Big smile. My rescuer found me last year in Israel when I was about a month old. When she was heading down a main road to the shelter, she heard a puppy crying, me. I was hiding under a tree, alone and quite scared. Hard to say what happened to my mama or siblings. So here at the shelter I have been waiting for my turn to get adopted. I am energetic and clever too. I am a bit higher on the assertive side, confident top dog is probably a good way to say. No fear of anything. I like to eat. So training should be easy with treats, especially given I am so smart, if I do say so myself. Though not yet house trained (since I have lived in the shelter the past year, I walk well on leash. I can be a bit shy when meeting strangers but it doesn't take me long to consider you my new best friend. My previous owners bought me from a breeder with the intent of breeding me. They did not train me or exercise me so I got my energy out the only way a puppy can, by getting into mischief. This resulted in me being kept in a crate or a tiny hallway with the door shut. I was even hit on occasion resulting in me being very timid around the people who should have been showing me love. Once I was no longer a puppy my family lost all interest in me to the point that I was very close to being euthanized. I wisely ran away and found a loving person who contacted LALDR who immediately took me in. I am now in a foster home and am deliriously happy there.  I adore people and other dogs but I am a bit too curious about cats so a home without a cat would be great. I am a very gentle and loving soul. My foster mom says I am just about perfect. I love going for walks so an active home would suit me best. I also love going to the dog park and playing with other dogs. Big snuggle bunny here. So happy my rescuers saved me from a breeder or I would have been doomed to a life of misery. I enjoy going for walks and meeting new dogs to play with. After a long walk, I like to be a lap dog. You won't need a blanket to keep warm with me snuggled up with you. Currently I live in a foster home that has young children and I do great with them. We play and cuddle, it's great. I love getting treats and playing with toys too, as I am quite playful. You'll find I am also very smart. I'm sure I could learn a new language and lots of new commands pretty quickly. With lots of puppy energy to burn, a family that can give me a good amount of exercise and activities would be the best home for me.
