About Tigger

Adoption Fee: $400

Tigger and Roo were born in a home to a rescued baby mama along with 3 other kittens. They were surrendered to rescue when the elderly rescuer couldn’t find homes for them, and she feared she would fall over them. They are 31/2 months old. Both boys are a perfect mix of playful and loveable, biscuit making, purring machines. Perfect litter pan habits. They do not need to go together but would likely be happiest with another young feline playmate. They have been introduced to a cat savvy dog and were
both curious.

At the time you are seeing this post, this cat is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application if you are interested in any of our animals. The application can be found at https://greendogsunleashed.org. If you send an inquiry to ask if the cat is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that.

*/*/* PLEASE NOTE: We will send you an email if additional information is needed, so lease keep an eye on your inbox AND spam folders.

*/*/* Young kittens will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional boosters and a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing, and healthcare are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter.

Please note you must submit an application, be approved, and submit a refundable hold deposit before a meet and greet will be scheduled. You can fill out an application here: https://greendogsunleashed.org

While we do allow out of state adoptions, the adopter must be able to travel to Charlottesville, Virginia and meet in person at an agreed upon time to take their cat home.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of $125.00 for cats. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes age appropriate vaccines and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals.

Ankara is a true Anatolian girl. She is a smart 1 year old, quick to react and wants to control the situation. She loves observing her surroundings and she loves life on her terms. She is kind, but stongwilled and willing to cuddle at the same time. True to breed, Ankara can be a pushy female, so she should be in an environment where the other dogs will not challenge her. She is much more tolerant of large breed males. She enjoys independent play and patrolling the perimeter, and likes having a job. We are looking for a home with Livestock Guardian Dog experience to best suit Ankara's needs.  At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Meet Arvo, a three-year-old Australian Shepherd, one of the resilient souls we welcomed from the HSUS hoarding case, where we've already rescued 24 dogs. Arvo, like her fellow companions, is a complete sweetheart, though she takes a little time to emerge from her shell. Having spent her initial years in a challenging environment, Arvo initially felt anxiety being in a loving home. Despite this, she showcases incredible bravery, seeks affection, and cautiously explores her new surroundings. Arvo's journey is truly heartwarming. Once completely shut down upon arrival, she has quickly begun to bravely engage with her environment, seeking love and pets from the humans she's grown most familiar with. While she may need some time to warm up to new faces and situations, Arvo is unmistakably eager to please, learning that people can be trusted. Her favorite activities include leisurely walks outside, where she can indulge in sniffing around. However, she's just as content to snooze indoors, showcasing her adaptable and easygoing nature. Arvo has peacefully coexisted with other dogs and has shown no interest in the resident cats. Arvo would thrive in a quieter household committed to positive reinforcement training, allowing her the space and time to adjust at her own pace. Despite being a bit wary of strangers, Arvo is an affectionate, sensitive, and smart girl, already making remarkable strides in her foster home. Are you ready to be part of Arvo's journey to a forever home?  www.greendogsunleashed.org/adopt At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Benny is a mixed breed handsome fella about 4 years old who prefers a quieter home and does best as an only-dog. He prefers to meet new people outside first and then does well with them inside. He is very cuddly to his people and enjoys car rides and adventures. He loves lounging in the sunshine, barking at the deer in the field, and getting the zoomies all around his yard. He's a country boy at heart and would prefer the quieter life in the country. Apartment life and busy city life is not for him.  He should go to a home with older kids and no other dogs. He has been cat-indifferent so far. Benny is available to adopt through Green Dogs Unleashed. At the time you are seeing this post, Benny is still available for adoption. Meet Cherry! She's a stunning, long-coated young Chihuahua momma who has recently weaned her two adorable puppies and is now ready for her own adventure. Cherry embodies the typical Chihuahua personality – sweet and fond of cuddling. She does also, display the Chi characteristic wariness of strangers, which tends to dissipate when she's in the arms of her trusted human companion. Cherry currently resides with several small foster pup siblings, and she thoroughly enjoys outdoor playtime with them. Given her background coming from a hoarding situation with many small dogs, we believe she would thrive in a home with another small dog as a playmate. Cherry has done well with house training since leaving her puppies and is gentle and eager to please. She has also been easy to groom. Cherry, however, becomes easily overwhelmed by the unpredictable sounds and movements of children, and due to her petite size she is more susceptible to accidental harm during rough play so we are looking for a home for her without small children.  If you're interested in providing a loving home for this beautiful and devoted momma, you can apply to adopt Cherry at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt/. Introducing Crocodile Dundee, a one-year-old Australian Shepherd with a heart full of resilience and a story of survival. Crocodile's journey to Green Dogs Unleashed has been a story of resilience and recovery from a challenging past. Through our partnership with HSUS, he joined us with minimal human contact, often marked by unfortunate abuse. Now a shy yet hopeful fellow, he seeks a patient and caring home to help him blossom. Although the world overwhelms him, Crocodile, the introverted charmer, believes in the universal language of sniffs to greet everyone he meets. Crocodile finds solace in his crate, considering it his safe haven when the world becomes a bit too much. He takes delight in savoring his chews, demonstrating polite chewing habits that make them last a long time. If you're ready to be the patient and understanding friend who helps Crocodile emerge from his shell, we invite you to apply for his adoption at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt. This food-loving Aussie has a soft spot for chicken, and mealtime is a joyous occasion where he happily bonds with his human friends. Meet Dodger, our beautiful lab mix pup and a real dog's dog. Dodger's journey began in a hoarding situation, where he and more than 100 dogs spent their lives with no positive contact with humans and minimal care. As a result, he's understandably wary of people, but he's making a sincere effort to learn how to be a cherished house pet. Dodger's most effective way of learning to trust human companionship is through leisurely walks, which he does politely with a loose lead and at a calm pace. He's crate-trained and has done an excellent job with housetraining. While he may be shy, Dodger is incredibly sweet. He's not defensive or aggressive in any way, just unsure about how to enjoy human affection. We are looking for a patient home for him, one without too much chaos, as he can startle easily. Therefore, a home without small children would likely be the best fit for him. Dodger's heart truly shines when he's around other pups, and he longs for the companionship of canine friends to romp and spend his days with. Ideal applicants for Dodger should have one (or a few) friendly pups at home who will welcome Dodger into their pack and assist him in continuing to learn how to be loved. Dodger is on his way to navigating a positive life, and if you and your pups think your home can help sweet Dodger learn to love and come out of his shell, please consider applying for him at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt. Meet Henry! This charming 7-year-old Yorkie mix is a bundle of spunk and is always up for a good adventure. He's house-trained and tolerates being crated when his humans are away, although he'd much prefer if they could stay home with him all the time. Henry has shown good compatibility with his foster's resident dogs. However, he's made it clear that he's not a fan of cats. So, we're seeking a loving home for him without feline roommates. Henry is in the process of refining his leash manners, and he's making notable progress, particularly when using a gentle leader. Due to his small size, we are confident that with some continued guidance and training, he will evolve into a great walking companion. This little guy absolutely adores his people and will make a wonderful companion for an experienced owner who is frequently at home and shares enthusiasm for exciting adventures, just like Henry does. Henry is very much of the opinion that, if it's within paw's reach, it belongs to him and no one else. Any potential adopter must be familiar with resource guarding and how to accommodate a pet with this particular behavior. For this reason, it is not recommended that Henry go to a home with children. If you would like to apply for Henry you can do so today at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt/. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time.  Meet Jalapeno, the epitome of adorableness – and a crate-trained, house-trained, and cat-friendly companion. While he may be a tad shy at first, Jalapeno is a genuine velcro pup, always up for a snug session on the couch. Jalapeno's affectionate nature shines, making him a sweet and endearing companion. To thrive, he's seeking a patient and understanding home that can help him build confidence and overcome initial fears. For this reason, we believe he'll flourish best in a home without small children. Jalapeno's foster, who works at a vet, has been instrumental in helping him navigate interactions with friendly strangers. At home, he forges deep bonds with his person, and he yearns for nothing more than a forever friend. Ideal for apartment living, Jalapeno isn't a fan of the yard but revels in sidewalk strolls. Surprisingly quiet, he only vocalizes when he needs something – and yes, he daydreams of sharing the bed, though he's content in his crate. J alapeno is a delightful Chi with a heart as vast as his charm. Ready to welcome this sweet, shy boy into your home? Let patience and love pave the way to his forever family!  www.greendogsunleashed.org/adopt At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. It’s quite impossible not to look into Lumi’s eyes and fall in love. We all have here at GDU, and Lumi has been quite at home. After almost six months of fostering with our Behavior Specialist, we feel she is finally ready to embark on her next adventure, no matter how many tears we will shed seeing her off. Lumi is a very special girl who will need an extremely patient and understanding family. She may spend many weeks hiding in a new home, and the ability to allow her agency over her body and daily activities is imperative. For this ready a securely fenced yard is an absolute must, and commitment to allowing her to trail a long line, and the patience while she gets to know you is key. Lumi LOVES other dogs and cats. In fact, she has her very own Emotional Support Cat here at GDU HQ and would love it if you had one too. But playful, friendly, socially appropriate dogs would also work. She LIVES to play with others. Lumi crates amazingly well and doesn’t make a peep. She has decent house manners but will steal trash if given the chance and does submissive pee if someone unexpectedly grabs her. Adopter MUST : -Have another dog. -Have patience love, and kindness. -Be willing to come to GDU for ongoing training and several meetings prior to adoption. -Understand she will need patience and not push her. -Accept they are also basically adopting me and send me a Christmas card every year. I will cry big, ugly tears when she leaves. - Erika At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Millie is an 8 year old Aussie looking for a home without small children. She is currently boarding with a trainer. The Good: Millie has good obedience skills and is a pro at fun tricks. She has an incredible food and toy drive and would be a lot of fun in agility, nose work, etc. She is very sweet and affectionate once she forms a bond with you, which only takes a few minutes if you bring food or toys. She loves water and her perfect home would take her swimming-pools, rivers, lakes, beach-she loves them all! Millie is in great health, has been part of her current family since she was a puppy, and is spayed and up-to-date on vaccinations. The Bad: No young children, please! Possibly older dog savvy kids would be ok. Millie had a bite history with a handler which will be fully discussed with a potential adopter (once in 8 years). Millie may exhibit stranger danger, but she's perfectly fine with appropriate introductions. She simply doesn’t appreciate being pressured by strangers but if they have food, she’ll make an exception. This is generally only an issue inside her home, but once introduced properly she’s fine. From her owners: "We've made the tough decision to find a new loving home for Millie after over 8 years of companionship. Our growing family, with a 1-year-old and another on the way, isn't compatible with Millie's needs. Both our vet and professional trainers support this decision. Our top priority is to secure the best possible environment for Millie.” **This is a courtesy posting only.  If interested in Millie, please email  foxhollowkennel@gmail.com.   show less

Introducing Norman Rockwell, the biggest and most handsome guy around! At approximately a year and a half old, Norman is a unique mix of St. Bernard and Belgian Malinois, weighing in at about 100 pounds. He's a high-drive and intelligent large breed boy looking for his perfect match. Norman is as sweet and affectionate as they come, but he can be a handful for owners who don't have experience with drivey dogs. We're seeking folks dedicated to nurturing his growth through mental stimulation and continued positive reinforcement training. Norman's experience begins with an initial timidity, but as he settles in, his affection knows no bounds. His intelligence shines through, and he thrives on the mental challenges that training provides, especially when treats are involved. In fact, a good trick or obedience training session can tire him out more than a long run. He's a quick learner and a resourceful one at that. Norman is also house-trained and a master of expressing his wants and needs. His typical day includes bursts of high-energy play followed by long, well-deserved naps. He enjoys playing with toys and engaging in tugging sessions. It's essential to provide him with daily exercise and mental stimulation to keep him content. In terms of leash training, Norman has made significant progress and is well-behaved with a gentle leader. He's also generally good with other dogs in neutral settings but may show leash reactivity when close to his home. After appropriate introductions and continued guidance toward appropriate play and boundaries, we believe he would do fine with a fur-sibling at home. Norman is most comfortable when his humans are around, and he can struggle with separation anxiety when left alone for extended periods. He would thrive in a home where people are often present and with patient owners willing to work on his comfort and confidence when they're away. The ideal home for Norman would be an active one with one or two permanent residents and without younger kids. Some experience with high-drive dogs is preferred, and apartment living isn't suitable for Norman. We are uncertain about his compatibility with cats. You can apply to adopt him at greendogsunleashed.org/adopt/ At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption.
