About Darla Jean

Meet Darla Jean (aka Baby Biscuit): Darla Jean is 6 months old (as of early Oct 2023) Jack Russell/Spaniel mix (best guess). Darla Jean was found living under a house in Mississippi after her family moved and left her behind. This poor little girl had been on her own for weeks, but luckily Charlie's Crusaders found her in time!  We scooped her up and filled her up with food and love and gave her a few baths! Darla Jean is now being fostered near the Lancaster, PA area and she is very excited to meet her forever family! Darla Jean is just as sweet as can be. Darla Jean is very social with other dogs (although she can find big "in-your-face dogs" scary so she will need to meet new dogs slowly), doesn't mind cats, and gives kisses to every human she meets. Darla is good on a leash and great in the car. Darla Jean has a calm, sweet, and inquisitive temperament. She isn't hyper or jumpy, and will sit daintily for a treat and she is very treat motivated! Darla Jean is almost perfectly potty trained and sleeps through the night in her cozy crate. We would love for Darla Jean to have a home with a fence so she can play and run freely. Darla Jean is up to date on her puppy shots and will be spayed when age appropriate. If you are interested in adopting this adorable little one, please go to Charlie’s Crusaders website (www.charliescrusaders.org) to fill out an application.

Meet Penny: Penny is about a 2 year old (as of November 2023) pit bull terrier mix (best guess) that weighs 48 pounds. Penny was a lucky one that was rescued from a southern high kill shelter after she was scheduled for euthanasia. Once in the foster’s home it was discovered that she was pregnant; Penny gave birth to 3 live puppies and remaining 6 were still born. She has been a wonderfully sweet mama and we want to find her and her pups the best forever homes! Penny is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Penny is a very sweet, active young lady and will need a family that likes to be active as well. Penny is a very playful girl who is constantly getting the zoomies. She is very athletic and would excel at sports! Penny is shy at first but will warm up quickly once bribed with treats and given time to get to know you. (She loves “Fromm Crunchy O’s” treats!) Penny is dog friendly if properly & slowly introduced. She prefers the company of submissive dogs her size or larger. She will need an experienced home because she will resource guard her food, treats & toys, so we don’t recommend small children for her. Penny has stunning blue eyes and a zest for life! Penny’s house training status is currently being assessed. Penny will need a home with a fenced in yard for her to play safely and get all of her zoomies out. Penny is up to date on her shots and spayed. Hello from Quince!  Quince was born around Christmas 2021 and soon found himself being given away in a Mississippi Wal-Mart parking lot, along with his 3 siblings.  Quince has been in rescue since early 2022 and we are all eager for him to find his forever family soon!  Quince will thrive with an owner or family that will continue his training.  He has done a lot of hard work and we want him to maintain all the skills he has learned! Quince is a lean and lanky 45 lbs, and we assume he is some type of shepherd mix.  He is a handsome boy with a beautiful black coat.  Although he is a very energenic boy, a home that is more laid back, with predictible routines would suit him best.  He would do best in a home with older children or adults only that can give him lots of exercise, mental stimulation, and clear boundaries.  Quince gets along wtih other dogs when introduced properly and has learned to share toys.  He does have some resource guarding with food, which can be comfortably managed by separate feeding areas, and supervision.   Quince is in a boarding facility and enjoys regular maintenance visits from a trainer.  Quince will require a home with a fenced yard so that he can romp around freely off leash.  Quince needs an experienced dog person who will be his leader of the pack.  He is potty trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and down. Quince loves the outdoors including hiking, playing in water and car rides.   If you are interested in adopting this sweet boy please go to our website at charliescrusaders.org and fill out our adoption application.  REQUIREMENTS FOR QUINCE : Fenced-in yard, training or breed experience.  No small kids or critters. CURRENT LOCATION : boarding facility in Hummelstown PA show less
