About Clarence

Adoption Fee: $300

Calling all HOUND LOVERS! If you know, love, and adore all the special traits of a hound, Clarence is ready to meet you!  He loves to be cuddled and kissed, so someone that will hold him and give him lots-o-love is the match we are looking for!  He likes to sleep in bed with us, so be sure you can make room for him!

He also has those traditional hound personality traits which means, he's sensitive and kind but has a little bit of a stubborn streak which is endearing. You know if they get something on their minds, or better yet, in their nose - they just might ignore you just a "little bit."

Clarence is doing well on his leash training and enjoys his daily outings. He has pretty much got the hang of run, walk, jog and different speeds and does a good job keeping the right pace.  He could make a great compainion for your exercise routine. This boy has a lot of young pup energy, and he pretty much can play all day.  He would be happy with a fun, furry, playful sibling or could be just as happy as an only dog as long his family spends lots of time burning off his energy.  He is definitely looking for an active family as he isn't quite ready to be the couch potato, yet!  On the flip side, when working during the day he normally just lay's right next to me. He's such a GREAT companion and what a WONDERFUL personality!

He seems to get super excited with our neighbors that has a son that is 2 years old; Clarence will run to the fence when he sees them and loves to get petted through the fence.  Our neighbors have free roaming chickens, and we have a lot of deer around as well. While Clarence gets a bit excited when he sees them, just telling him 'No' Clarence seems to be easily re-directed. He also lives with several cats; so we think he would be ok with dog savvy kitties.

Clarence is doing well with house training.  He goes potty immediately in the morning and before bed.  We let him out several times a day to "do his business." Even though he is in a fenced yard, we stay out with him; he loves our company!  Clarence is working on basic training and confidence.  Right now he is still crated if no one is home or else he can get into a little mischief.  He is smart and has learned how to get out said crate.  We think he just doesn't love being left a lone so a home that has some family members home the majority of the time is probably the best be for cute Clarence. He does need some training and would need someone that would be able to provide this for him.

Clarence isn't shy about dashing to the door, so a secure home where kids are not coming and going all the time and parents know to be watchful and careful before opening doors, etc. is important.  He wants a fenced yard ~4-5ft tall so he can play all day!  He really needs time to run around off leash and just be a young, playful pup.  It makes him so happy, and it will absolutely brighten your day watching him have the time of his life!

To wrap it up, we love him so much, so for us we want him to go to a home where he can have the same love and care that we provide to him!! He is a very special boy!

(DOB 7/25/2021) As part of Clarence’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Clarence, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our
website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

This little sunshine is a beauty. Her fur is super soft and plush. She is a nice combination between laid back, snuggly and calm but also playful and curious. She loves being around her humans and always close to her beloved sister Fleur de Lis. She enjoys playing with tags, straws and really any toy! She loves her sister very much and doesn't like when her sister happens to be out of sight. They spend their days playing silly games and snuggling together (while purring loudly), preferably close or on top of a human friend. If you have never experienced this, we highly recommend it!  Praline will be happiest having Fleur de Lis with her forever, nothing replaces her in her life. So we are advocating for them to be get adopted as a pair. If you believe in keeping siblings together, this is your chance to make a huge impact on these two precious lives. Their unique personalities will certainly bring much joy to your life. (Please see Fleur de Lis' profile to learn more!) She has been tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia and received her first vaccinations. Her adoption fee includes her spay surgery, microchip and rabies vaccination when she is old enough. Put in your application today at pawsforlifenc.org. Please note: we do not adopt our unaltered kittens to homes beyond a 45 minute drive from our Raleigh vet clinics.   show less

River would like to gently, slow and smoothly trickle into your life like a gentle stream. She has the kindest eyes that will shine in the sun and melt your heart.    River loves soft, plush toys to play with and would love a family to spend time each day playing with her! She will share a big smile, a wiggly tail to show you how much fun she is having with you! River would do well in a home that has someone at home a good amount of the day; she'd make a good work from home partner.   River is docile and unassertive and has a shier personality. She loves her furry foster sisters and having another sweet and confident pup in her new home would be the ideal home life for sweet River. She loves her people but does take a little time to warm up; are you the kind of person that would give her a little bit of extra patience so you get the reward of being the love of her life! You won't be dissappointed in her loyalty and the amount of love she has to give!   River needs a home with a fence. She doesn't love walking on a leash and will need time, lots of positive praise and yummy rewards when loud noises and cars zip by so take your time and/or go on strolls in quieter places like a trail or the woods. So a good ole fenced in yard to hang out with her loveable family and furry siblings is what River is looking for.   Since River is still learning that her new life will be safe, she can be a flight risk so a family that understands doors need to be watched, monitoring if outside in a fenced area and always walking on leash with a martingale collar are needed for this darling girl to remain safe and secure. She just needs time and patience and you will absolutely fall head over heals for this specail, wonderful girl! Give this girl a chance and you won't be disappointed!   (DOB 7/23/2022) As part of River’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt River, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Hi there; my name is Rocco. I must say my best trait is my personality! I enjoy playing in my fenced yard and really enjoy my play time with my dog brother. I can play with him all day! I enjoy being out in the sun, and I will search high and low for the sun spots. The sun just sparkles on my silky black coat! If not running around and playing in the yard, I also like to go for walks with my people, but don't be surprised if I just lay down in the middle of the grass and relax.   After a good amount of playtime, I enjoy my crate. I am very creative in my crate decor and do prefer the deconstructed look, ha ha. So if you give me a dog bed, I may take some liberty in how it fits into my style. I think they call it shabby chic or something along those lines. I must have been an interior decorator in a previous life. Once all fixed up just right, I sleep very well. In a nutshell, I am crate and housetrained for you already.   I do get very excited for food and treats! I'm really working on my manners, and I think I got the hang of most of them. I think "sit" means "lay" but other than that I'm good :). If you live in an apartment, condo or townhome, I could fit your lifestyle, too. All I need is a couple good walks each day and some playtime with my 2-legged or 4-legged family and friends (I could be in a home with or without other dogs). I just LOVE people and LOVE other dogs. I am still young and get so happy to see everyone!! You can tell by my big, huge smile! I'm learning cues from my pup friends and understanding boundaries from the other dogs. I'm a little smartie!   At my fun, young age I think I could say these are some of my cute charateristics; since I am learning a lot if I misstep, I'm easily redirected & very eager to please. I am a little bit submissive in the best kind of way and am a little shy with strangers but as soon as they show me love and affection, I know I have found another new bestie!! I still have plenty of curious, clumsy, and mischieviousness in my to make every day an adventure.   You know what I don't like - lawnmowers. Boy they are wierd and scary thing. Guess I might get use to them over time but for now, I'd rather go the other way if I hear one of those things wheeling towards me.    I love to be near my people. I'm a very happy, lovable bundle of energy and would love to be a part of your family! You won't meet a sweeter boy than me, I promise!!   As part of Rocco’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Rocco, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt tab on his profile our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 4/21/2023). Roger is a fun loving boy who enjoys a good game of tug, long walks (and he's already doing well leash walking), or just hanging out with the kids in the living room chewing on a toy. He can easily entertain himself with different toys and bones to chew on; he will toss them around and chase after them. He's just adorable! He just loves being included.   Roger also loves playing with other dogs! So we are looking for a family with at least one playful furry sibling for Roger to play and hang out with. He loves his foster siblings; 2-legged and 4-legged! He also wants a fenced in yard to goof off and just be a playful puppy. Roger is very eager to meet new people and sometimes gets a bit excited and needs reminded of his manners and then he calms down.    Roger goes to the door when he needs out! Roger eats in his crate. He gets very excited at feeding time and sometimes barks at you and runs back and forth to his crate ready for chow time! He's all about getting your attention. At bedtime, Roger sleeps well in his crate.   He's a friendly pup with a happy personality. All he wants to do is share his infectious smile, big grin, and love for life with you! Any good day will be made great with Roger around. Have a bit of bad day, Roger will help you forget all about it!   Roger is also great with kids!!   As part of Roger’s $325 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Roger, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Rum is a gorgeous boy with a happy smile to share and will brighten your day with his infectious grin! He is always happy with a fun personality. He is ready to bring his joy and zest for life into your amazing family!   Rum is an exemely good listener and wants nothing more than to please his people. If you're happy, he's happy! Rum is a smart guy and already knows basic commands like sit, wait and down and a family that will continue positive reinforcement training would be perfect for Run. Rum is very food motivated so this will help with training. He walks well on a leash using an easy walk harness.   Rum plays well with other dogs but would prefer a submissive personality if you own another dog and he will skip homes with those other furry creatures called cats.  Older children (~8+ years) should be fine just don't want Rum to accidently knocking down a little one.    As part of Rum’s $325 adoption fee, is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Rum, you can fill out an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less
