About Cody
Cody is an adorable Eski-Pom-Spitz mix, weighing in at 50 pounds, who was quite the adventurer in his youth. He used to love hiking and kayaking; he's definitely an outdoorsman. Now having reached the ripe young age of 7, Cody is looking for a new person or family to get him back into some daily exercise routines.
When he is happy and he sees me, he will squeak and beg to be near me. It is an adorable greeting, and you know you've been missed! He does stop with a "quiet" command. However, if you don't feel like leaving him behind, even better...he loves car rides and is a road trip fanatic! Pack him up and take him with you.
He gets up in the morning goes and straight outside for some outdoor time with our dog Emma. They spend time out there depending on the weather. He definitely wants to be the alpha dog in the home, but not in a mean or aggressive way. Maybe it's his "small dog complex"?? So be prepared for proper introductions and being patient for them to adjust; he's a sweet, good boy who needs a sweet, loving home. If it's really nice he prefers to stay out for a while (mid 60's-70's). He has fun chasing squirrels, birds, and barks friendly and happily to our neighbor dogs. He would do best with a fenced yard that he can enjoy.
Cody would do wonderfully in a home with a retired person or someone who really wants a companion animal. He's playful, but not high energy for more than a few minutes a day. Someone who wants a lapdog or a bestie in animal form will be thrilled with Cody. His ideal home involves someone with alot of time and love for him. They need to be able to exercise him for his health so they will need to be a bit active. All he needs is a person who has time to love him. After his daily exercise routine, he is just as happy to snuggle in for rubs and snuggles. He really is a sweetie!
Cody is very quick to learn and easily trained. He seems to like and obey women more, but he does truly like my son. He still prefers me, but he listens to him and is good for him. He is happy to sit on the sofa with you or if you tell him not to, he's smart and will go to his comfy bed or favorite spot. He is very smart and well behaved. He stops at the doorways to rooms he is not to go and camps out there until I come back out. If he is outside, he will come in whenever called by me. He is house trained and crate trained.
Cody is dog friendly, cat friendly and kid friendly. As mentioned, he a bit bossy. He isn't combative it is more like a competition for Cody and he wants to be the one in charge of the other dogs. He is good with strangers he meets and will sniff them.
(DOB 09/27/2016) As part of Cody’s $300 adoption fee, he will is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
