About Cody

Adoption Fee: $300

Cody is an adorable Eski-Pom-Spitz mix, weighing in at 50 pounds, who was quite the adventurer in his youth. He used to love hiking and kayaking; he's definitely an outdoorsman. Now having reached the ripe young age of 7, Cody is looking for a new person or family to get him back into some daily exercise routines.

When he is happy and he sees me, he will squeak and beg to be near me. It is an adorable greeting, and you know you've been missed! He does stop with a "quiet" command. However, if you don't feel like leaving him behind, even better...he loves car rides and is a road trip fanatic! Pack him up and take him with you.

He gets up in the morning goes and straight outside for some outdoor time with our dog Emma. They spend time out there depending on the weather. He definitely wants to be the alpha dog in the home, but not in a mean or aggressive way. Maybe it's his "small dog complex"?? So be prepared for proper introductions and being patient for them to adjust; he's a sweet, good boy who needs a sweet, loving home. If it's really nice he prefers to stay out for a while (mid 60's-70's). He has fun chasing squirrels, birds, and barks friendly and happily to our neighbor dogs. He would do best with a fenced yard that he can enjoy.

Cody would do wonderfully in a home with a retired person or someone who really wants a companion animal. He's playful, but not high energy for more than a few minutes a day. Someone who wants a lapdog or a bestie in animal form will be thrilled with Cody. His ideal home involves someone with alot of time and love for him. They need to be able to exercise him for his health so they will need to be a bit active. All he needs is a person who has time to love him. After his daily exercise routine, he is just as happy to snuggle in for rubs and snuggles. He really is a sweetie!

Cody is very quick to learn and easily trained. He seems to like and obey women more, but he does truly like my son. He still prefers me, but he listens to him and is good for him. He is happy to sit on the sofa with you or if you tell him not to, he's smart and will go to his comfy bed or favorite spot. He is very smart and well behaved. He stops at the doorways to rooms he is not to go and camps out there until I come back out. If he is outside, he will come in whenever called by me. He is house trained and crate trained.

Cody is dog friendly, cat friendly and kid friendly. As mentioned, he a bit bossy. He isn't combative it is more like a competition for Cody and he wants to be the one in charge of the other dogs. He is good with strangers he meets and will sniff them.

(DOB 09/27/2016) As part of Cody’s $300 adoption fee, he will is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Cody, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our

Abby - The QUEEN - Foster or Adopt

She is the QUEEN... you live in her kingdom... you will do her bidding and abide by her rules!  She will give you all of the love she has and she really enjoys spending time with her people - ONCE SHE GETS TO KNOW YOU!  More often than not, if you are sitting or lying down she will be close by, preferably using you as a pillow.   Laps really do make nice, warm, cozy napping spots. She is the Queen after all... and wants to be treated as such. She is a playful girl.  She still acts like a kitten when it comes to playing and small toys she can swat around seem to be her favorites. When not playing, she enjoys lounging at the top of her cat tree so she can see everything.  She likes to survey her surroundings and see what is going on. So, really, the best of both worlds = playful and chill!   She needs to make sure everything is as it should be in her little kingdom!   Abby needs to be the only cat in the home--she does not get along with dogs or other cats.  She, and she alone, is QUEEN OF THE CASTLE!   She will be a wonderful companion to the person who will commit to loving her and accept her terms. She does well with adults and should be okay with older children who understand to take things on Abby's time.  A little patience goes a long way with her - she may be a bit shy and timid at the first meeting - but once she gets to know you she will be "all in"!  Until she gets to know you and trusts you... she will be standoffish and likely give you the eye.  If you move too fast for her comfort, she will swat at your hand.  Remember... her kingdom, her rules. Abby is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all shots. For more information and to fill out an application, go to www.pawsforlifenc.org. Foster to adopt option is available. show less

Would you agree that Addie has the most beautiful smile? Do you have another dog that would like a sweet companion? Addie is dog friendly and would be happy to have a friendly furry in her new home. She does have big foster sisters, and they have helped her learn the basics, like sit, stay and wait. Although, Addie does love her foster sisters, she would also be fine as an only dog, as long as she has lots of love and attention from her people.   You can tell she has just the biggest heart and is full of love to give! She has a sweet personality and everyone that meets her thinks she is an absolute doll. She is also very gentle and sweet with children.   She enjoys sniffing and checking out her yard or romping with a furry friend. Then maybe a little sunbathing as her eyes close almost shut and the sun glistens against her shiny, silky black coat. Bonus, she is already house trained and crate training is going really well, too. She also does very well in the house. Addie sleeps quietly at night on her bed with ZERO accidents. She is way past the chewing phase so yet another bonus!!   Addie is a fan of walks and just loves be with her people on a nice stroll. Plus, she is really well behaved on the leash.   Addie is heartworm positive, so she will need a nice quiet place as she recuperates. Don't worry, once she gets a clean bill of health,  she will be all to ready to do all cool things life has in store.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC) until after her treatment is complete. During her heartworm treatment, she will need a calm spot to spend most of her time for R&R.   DOB 04/13/2016, Lab mix. As part of Addie's $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Addie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Aspen is a happy and good-natured pup with a beautiful smile. She has the cutest ears that often go in two different directions - one up and one out.  She also has the silkiest, black, shiny coat that sparkles in the sunlight and her golden-brown eyes will "pop" with just the right lighting—makes for very striking good looks.    She is affectionate and gentle, enjoying attention from people of all ages, including children.  She loves attention and getting a daily dose of scratches, pets and belly rubs.  When hanging out with humans, she prefers to be near them but not necessarily on them. She loves relaxing on her dog bed next to her people playing with her favorite toys while her people watch TV.    She also enjoys going on long walks and using her nose to explore. Her ideal family would encourage her to engage in daily nose work and take her on daily strolls. She is good on a leash but will pull if she sees something exciting like a bunny, cat or squirrel scurry by.  She is completely content being left alone as long as she has these daily mental and physical outlets.    Aspen is perfectly fine being the only dog in the household but doesn’t need to be.  She can be choosy about her doggie friends though, so good/slow introductions are key for her to adjust to different energy levels and personalities.     DOB 06/01/2019, Lab mix. As part of Aspen's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Aspen, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Beaux

My name is Beaux, my fosters love to call me Beau Biscuit, Beau Berry, & Beaujiggler… but I’d be okay if you just called me YOURS!! :) I'd love to jump in the car with you on any day to grab a Bo Berry Biscuit (or anything for that matter), because I love the car and love being with my peeps!  I’m most excited for that very special ride we take to our new home.   I’m currently living with my foster family; they have 3 dogs that are my bestest friends. I would love to have furry, fun, friendly, brothers & sisters in my fur-ever home, too!!  Not only would I love other pups in my new home, a tall 5-6ft fence would be fantastic!  I love being outside playing, hanging out with or sunbathing with my pack.  I think I would be fine without other pups in the home if my family would make sure to "fawn" all over me and make sure to take me out and about often or maybe even some playtime at a doggy day care.   I have a beautiful voice and love to use it when my family leaves for work each day. I sing "the song of my people" to make sure they find their way back to me.  My foster parents do go off to that thing called work and I am good in my crate.  But I'd be super happy if my new home had someone who was home must of the time.  I am much happier when my peeps are around and get a little bit of anxiety or sadness when they leave me. I am just the best boy and love them so much when they are gone!  If nothing else, you will know I missed you when you are gone, becuase I am very happy when you return.   I would make a good jogging partner if that is something you are into.  After a run, I love to take a good hard nap!   Not only am I handsome (if I do say so myself), I have a great smile, a happy personality, and have a joy for my new life! Don't you want to explore it with me? I am ready to fill your home and heart with lots of love and a wiggly-butt.      I admit, I can be a bit of a door dasher so it's something to be aware of in the house and/or the fenced gates.  For sure, I don't want to leave you, I am just not quite use to that whole thing quite yet so definitely something to know and keep me safe.   (DOB 7/31/2019) As part of Beaux’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Beaux, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Blue is a big, goofy guy with facial expressions to match his fun and silly personality. He can often be found with a quircky-all-teeth-showing smile, and it's sure to make you smile, too. This big, blued-eyed beauty has the coolest markings that help his amazing eyes just stand out! He also has a very big heart and lots of love to give!   He has a good amount of playful energy so will need a family, home, and yard that gives him lots of opportunities to romp, run and play! He is dog friendly, so if you have a playful pup that can match his size and energy level, Blue could be an awesome addition to your family! He is good with kids but because of his size no small children as he can accidently knock over little ones. He is cat tolerant, so a cat savvy home should be fine.   Blue is also a very good "home security system"; he will let you know when someone arrives. He warms up quickly to strangers; especially those that are kind and friendly.    Blue loves having room to run around in the back yard. You'll need to have time to spend with him daily burning off his energy allotment so he's not bored and doing some hole diggin'. He would also prefer a family that has people home the majority of the time. Mabye Blue is "blue" when his people leave him because he does not seem to love being seperated from his peeps. So if you work from home, schooling from home, or something similar, that would be great. Also, Blue says leave some room on the couch for him; too! It is actually his favorite place to sleep at night. He goes to his crate with a little treat and knows to sit and wait to eat. Sometimes he whines a little while settling into his crate time.   You will fall in love with this big boy and his beautiful blue eyes. He has nothing but love to give. So if you love big dogs, beautiful dogs, playful dogs, happy dogs, energtic dogs, and can't wait to add an awesome and amazing pup to your family, Blue may be the boy for you!    DOB 04/01/2022. As part of Blue’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Blue, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

He has a beautiful coat and those eyes! Who can resist?  Casper the Friendly Dog, is looking for a forever gig which allows him to show off his smarts, loyalty, goofiness, and stunning good looks!   He’s a smart fellow, too, and learns quickly. He’s fully house and crate-trained and now working on basic obedience and leash manners with which he’s making amazing progress with positive training, consistency, and patience.   Casper lights up every room he enters and has a great, joyous spirit about him. He loves, loves, loves to play – tug-of-war and any kind of ball – fetch and tether ball, too. He has good energy, although not “over-the-top” and some solid play and run time in the back yard with a long walk or chasing a laser light will get him ready to snuggle with you on the couch and watch TV before he retires to his crate. He sleeps in his crate all night very well but loves to sleep with his human, too, if he gets the chance. He goes into “baby mode” at night and just wants to snuggle and be held.   Casper needs some specific things in a forever home to be safe and happy: an active owner with good dog experience who has the time and patience to spend training a young, strong dog; experience in training using positive techniques; a fenced yard where he can get his play on; to be the only dog would be ideal; and, while his foster parent is a mom, he really responds well to men, so it would be ideal to have a man in the home that would spend time with him and treat him well. He is young and had a hard start in life, so needs love and patience to help him evolve into a perfect dog!   It would be best for Casper to avoid homes with: 1) people of elderly age or children less than 10-12 years old due to his strength and energy level; 2) apartment/condo/close house living – due to his energy and he can be vocal if he sees/hears unusual or new things or noises. (He’s a very good watch dog.)  3) home with cats or other small animals, including small dogs, in the home because he will definitely chase and try to catch them. He does resource guard food, toys, and his crate with other dogs, so just keep that in mind.  He has no guarding with humans at all, over anything. He does best with female dogs of his own size who are confident and who have good doggy social skills, but constant supervision is a must when he’s with other dogs, particularly at first.   DOB 01/07/2022, male Hound/Husky mix.  Of importance, too, he has no signs of being deaf, which can be genetically present in white dogs with blue eyes. Casper is adorable and weighing in at around 48 pounds. As part of Casper's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Casper, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less
