About Iris

Adoption Fee: $325

Iris has the best houndy-ears; they are soft, velvety and silky smooth. They are super cute because they pretty much go in every direction and can kinda do a helicopter thing.  They sparkle in the sun and flop around when she bounces and plays. She also has cute little white socks on her toes, so when she is prancing around it's like an old-school sock hop.

This little sweetheart loves to keeps the fun rolling by chewing and tossing her toys like a pro. With Iris by your side, each day is guaranteed to be filled with happiness and laughter. And when she's all tuckered out, get ready for some serious snuggle sessions!

Iris is a social butterfly who adores everyone she meets. She's already working on perfecting her leash manners, but as a puppy, she'll need ongoing practice to grow into a well-behaved doggo. So take her out for walks, run errands together, and watch as she captures the hearts of both friends and strangers. But wait, there's more! Iris absolutely craves the company of another four-legged friend, as playing without a furry playmate would leave her feeling lonely and bored. So do you have another playful dog that is just dying for another furry-friend, then Iris may be the girl for you!

This sweet little girl aims to please her humans and is incredibly intelligent. She easily follows the lead of the other dogs and is always eager to learn. Iris is a playful ball of energy, but also holds a bit of a submissive side. She's on the hunt for a loving and nurturing family who understands that training a puppy takes patience and time. As long as you break the lessons into short, fun intervals, Iris is all ears! And did we mention she's food-motivated? That means positive reinforcement training will be a breeze.

A fenced yard is exactly what Iris desires, giving her the space to play and explore to her heart's content before coming in for a well-deserved nap in her cozy crate. So with toys and treats, Iris is ready to put her little listening ears on and begin her early "childhood education!!"

As part of Iris’s $325 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.   If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Iris, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

(DOB 3/20/2023).  Do you prefer Sugar or Spice? This little Sugar has a little of both. She loves to play with her sister and bigger brothers. Even though she is the shyer of the two, she will still stand up to her bigger brother and let them know she's not taking anything from them. Sugar wants at least one other furry sibling in her fur-ever home. She loves other dogs and would be lonely; plus, other dogs are awesome teachers for young pups!   When she's done romping and playing in the backyard (which she loves to do), and ready for a little nap time she likes to snuggle up next to you or her sister on the couch. A home with a fenced yard would be perfect because she loves being outside. At her age, she also loves all kinds of toys and switching them up is a good way to keep her mind active and interested.   She can be a bit shy and will even les her sister eat all of the food. She loves to sit in your lap, but she seems to be more of one that rather sit beside you. Sugar would be a very sweet companion to sit on the sofa at the end of a busy day to watch some TV/read a book, and give her a little extra love and attention. She will likely fall asleep, and you will hear some cute, little puppy snores. Then when everyone is ready for bed, she will sleep in her crate with her sister. Or you may find her and her sister curled up in bed with their foster kitty; too cute!   Her new person will need to be prepared to spend time each and every day working on positive reinforcement training for loose leash walking, basic commands, and proper boundaries, so sweet Sugar will grow up into a well behaved and well balanced young adult! Puppies require time and attention so someone who is home a good part of the day is needed. She is still learning potty training so will need lots of outdoor breaks throughout the day.   As part of Sugar’s $325 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sugar, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 12/23/2022). Sullivan wants to be your Little Spoon! Sully is a goofy, wiggly, fun-loving, bed-hogging young pup. His favorite pastimes include snuggling with his people, having his butt scratched, destroying his toys, and playing with other dogs. He has a big, fat personality with lots of charming quirks to keep you entertained. He is very affectionate - when you snuggle with him, he will give you lots of kisses and will rub his head all over you. He has classic "puppy eyes" and knows exactly how to use them! One of his adorable quirks is snoring! Think "congested walrus driving a bulldozer, chasing a grizzly bear carrying a chainsaw, with a fighter jet passing overhead". Though Sully be but smaller, he is loud.  When Sullivan is awake, he is generally a quiet little guy, but he does occasionally bark or howl. So unless you dislike your neighbors, Sully would not make a good apartment dog. He is almost completely house-trained, but timing is everything with Sully.  So, getting him on a schedule and keeping to it should make things go smoothly. His signal to go out is VERY subtle. Training him to ring a bell to go out might help, but having a fenced yard would be best for him, especially if he has a doggie door where he can let himself out. If going for a potty walk, he does reasonably well on a leash, but does pull sometimes, and will still need some training. Sully is generally a very relaxed little guy, but he is still a puppy, and will get regular spurts of energy throughout the day and enjoys the play company of other dogs. Ideally, he'd do best in a home with a larger, confident dog to teach him the ropes. Sully loves to play with toys – any toy! Squeakers, plushies, chew toys – Sully loves to destroy them all, so he’ll need a big supply of fun chew toys. He will gleefully rip off a chunk and swallow it if you don't keep an eye on him, so supervised play is highly recommended. He is very food motivated and uses a slow feeder dish; otherwise he inhales his food and gives himself hiccups. He doesn't guard his food, dish, toys, etc. but will try to eat the food of the other household pets (or people), so everyone is separated at mealtimes He is crate trained, but he doesn't much care for the crate and gets upset if he is left in it for very long. He has done fine being allowed to roam free when his people are out, but has other dog friends to keep him company. However, his exuberance upon your return could power a small village for the day, so there's that. Sully gets a little nervous riding in the car, but generally does well. He will get into a car on his own, if given a little extra time to do things at his own pace. Once he settles in, he'll curl up on the seat and ride calmly. It's been a while since he's gotten car sick, but it is always a possibility.   As part of Sullivan’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Sullivan, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.   show less

Hi, I'm Toastie short for Toasted Marshmallow.  My perfect home would have people that enjoyed my kisses, give me the attention I so deserve, and love spending time with me.   My temperament is carefree and happy - just look at my curled tail held high. I've had fun at my foster house living with a sibling Aussie.  I love having a doggie foster sibling and am looking for one in my fur-ever home!  My foster mom also has two resuce cats and they are so silly and hiss at me to leave their space.  That doesn't bother me; I am just trying to win them over!  If they run, I do like to chase; not so sure if they like it but it sure is a bit of fun for me...ha ha!  If there are 2 legged-kiddos in the home, better be about 8 or so, I get a little excited and may accidently knock over a wee-one.   I love to run free in my fenced in yard with my Aussie sibling, and we find new adventures every day. I am definitely looking for a home with a 5ft fence and a good size yard to call my own and to play with my new furry sibling(s).  I, also, love to curl up in my doggie bed and take naps in the afternoon, worn out from all the fun I had outside. Those 2 things are great ways to spend a good part of my day.   My favorite thing besides my squeaky toys and stuffed animals, are getting doggie treats when my foster whistles to come in from outside - I run faster than the wind, so I can be first for my treat. I've learned so many new things in my foster home, like being crate trained - but you better secure the opening or I'm Houdini :-). I'm doing well with walking on a leash, getting used to a new harness my foster bought me. I went for a car ride the other day, and did really well, enjoyed my adventure.   I am looking for a home where my person/family is home a good amount of the day. A work from home situation would be ideal. I am not a fan, yet, of being left alone and prefer to be with my people and my furry sibling. I like sleeping near you as well so get ready for a few relaxing night time snores to help settle you in for a good nights sleep.   I'm looking for my forever home and hoping everything I told you made you feel like you can't wait to meet me!   (DOB 10/06/2020) As part of Toasted Marshmallow's $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Toasted Marshmallow, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt tab on her profile on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 5/16/2023).  Get ready to meet the life of the party - it's our boy, Toffee! Nothing brings him more delight than a room full of toys and playtime! When it comes to humans, he absolutely craves their love and attention.   With his engaging personality, this charming pup is always ready for some fun. He's bursting with energy and is eager to embark on thrilling adventures with his new family. This playful spirit will keep you entertained for hours on end, as he's always up for games, tummy rubs, and endless play sessions. But here's the catch - this social butterfly will absolutely thrive in a home with another doggie friend who can help him continue his socialization journey.   Toffee is a social learner, feeding off the presence and guidance of his fellow canines. By having a furry companion by his side, he'll gain the skills and confidence needed to navigate the world around him. So, if you're ready to double the pet love and enjoy the heartwarming bond between two pups, this boy is the perfect addition to your pack.   He's an open book, yearning to please his people and learn new things. Training sessions will be a delightful experience with this intelligent and motivated buddy. Teaching him new tricks and manners will be a breeze, and he'll soak up the positive reinforcement like a sponge.   While he is still learning the ropes, it's important to note that he would do best with older kids. As he's growing and developing, his enthusiasm and exuberance may accidentally cause him to knock down a little one or unintentionally scratch them with his sharp teeth or nails. Therefore, a home with older children who can understand and handle his energy levels and are willing to participate in his training would be ideal.   As part of Toffee’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.   If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Toffee, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Tyson can't see why he hasn't been adopted yet!! Even though he is partially blind; he loves playing, he gets around really well, and his "difference" makes him even that more special! Even if it makes him a little clumsy at times, it is very endearing. He still enjoys all normal activities liking going for walks with his furry siblings and romping and playing in the yard. RHis eye doctor thinks he can see shadows but not clear images.   BONUS: Tyson can't see that 50% of his adoption fee is being paid for by a kind sponsor but you can - only $125 to adopt sweet, special Typson! Are you one who roots for the underdog?    Tyson has a gentle soul and likes to snuggle up next to you.  Couch potato, lounger, dog bed crasher are all attributes he displays proudly!  While he may be a little bit on the lazy side, he is a great companion and LOVES to be around his people and loves to get pets and scratches.  He is a little shy/timid around new people but warms up to them in a quick minute.      He likes to follow his foster mom around the house while she talks to him, so he knows where she’s going.  When his foster mom is busy, he loves hanging around with his gal pal dog.  She unwittingly serves as his eyes and leads him around the house and yard.  He loves all the furry friends that come and go in his foster mom's house.   He enjoys being outside. A yard with a fence would be best for Tyson as it's easier for him than going on daily walks.  He prefers a quiet home as he gets nervous when there’s a lot going on.  Little kids are too unpredictable, loud, busy for his comfort, but he’s good with older kids/teenagers.  He could be adopted as an only dog or into a family with furry siblings, but admittedly, having at least one other  low-key, friendly dog is probably best.  No male dogs for him—he is a ladies’ man all the way. Staying in touch with his hound-y side, he is not a fan of cats either.   DOB 09/30/2016; 62lb hound mix.  Even though he is a little older, he still loves soft toys, squeaky toys, stuffed toys and he shares them easily.  He, also, loves meal time...yum yum!   Going on car rides with his family is a favorite activity.      As part of Tyson's 50% reduced $125 (standard $250) adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet boy, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Tyson, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Hi my name is Wendy; I am very dainty and do everything with poise and grace; but some days I like to be rambunctious, chasing my brothers around the room.  I can be bossy, especially if you try to share my dinner bowl with me, it is mine, all mine, get your own.  Sometimes I don’t understand “personal boundaries” ( what the heck, I am a baby after all) but all I am doing is trying to show my utmost love for you.    I am very sociable with other cats, but have never met a dog or a small children, their sudden movements and high pitch squeals scare me ( the kids, not the dogs).  I love to chase balls, especially those that light up, feather wands or other toys that have feathers.  I love to keep my nails nice and trimmed on a large scratching post, specially one I can sit at the top of to look over my kingdom.   Don’t believe all the nonsense about black cats being symbols of bad luck; some people think black cats make your home happy and safe.  If you needs someone to watch over you, then I am your kitty.  If you are interested in me please go to www.pawsforlifenc.org My adoption fee includes my spay when I am old enough, microchip, and age appropriate vaccaintions.  I have tested negative for FeLV/FIV Please note: we do not adopt unaltered kittens to homes beyond a 45-minute drive of our veterinarians. show less
