About Margaret
Meet Margaret! Margaret is a 3 year-old sweet golden girl weighing around 50 lbs. She was surrendered to GRRACE by a commercial breeder that no longer wanted her to produce puppies. Margaret’s life did not start out as any of us would have liked, but she is making up for it! She loves life and physical contact. While she is petite, her size is not reflective of her strength or speed.
Margaret loves rolling in the grass, zipping back and forth (she’s fast), and stretching out for a belly rub. Having another dog to follow has really helped her to build her confidence and trust, enjoy receiving affection, learn to potty outside and take treats from your hand. She has discovered dog toys and collects 10-15 at a time, laying on them like a proud possession! Margaret loves going on walks and once she calms down, she walks well on leash. She does rely on another dog accompanying her on her walks and will lay her head on them to nap. She feels safe with them and physically looks to them for guidance.
Margaret is completely potty trained but does sometimes dribble if she feels threatened. She does not like being contained and can go through or over a gate if confined to a room. She does not do well in a crate and should not be crated. However, she has the run of the house at all times and has had no issues.
Due to her past and never being well socialized or living in a home, Margaret can be nervous around new people and it takes her some time to get comfortable and gain trust. She can be timid and will seek out a safe place to go when she feels uncomfortable. She prefers to eat her meals alone without someone watching over her.
Margaret has the sweetest personality. She is seeking a devoted family that will give her love and the time and space to continue coming out of her shell. She has come a long way from not knowing what grass is to laying in her foster mom’s lap. She just needs a lot of space and reassurance.
