About Maggie Doodle
Maggie and Evan are needing a special home who can offer them compassion and love, and all the care they need!
We have kind of a sad story about these pups, but it's going to have a happy ending! We had NO IDEA these 2 were coming to GRRAND until one day when their owners showed up who could not speak any English, and were in a total panic... and asking us desperately to help them by taking in their 2 puppies! We had to get an interpreter to find out what the story was and we found out they had them in an apartment, and the landlord was threatening to evict them if they didn’t get rid of the dogs! We are at capasity at our GRRAND kennel, but couldn't say no. We are pretty sure they are doodles (either Goldendoodles or Labradoodles) about 8 months old and a bonded pair. They have never had a collar or leash on, no vet care at all, and they know NOTHING about life as a pet. We just can’t imagine how the owners were managing them in an apartment nor can we imagine what any of them were going through.
Since their arrival, and after a few days of trying to figure things out, they have just blossomed! They were shy and timid in the beginning, and now they are playing happily in the play yards and they love to be loved on by our volunteers. Evan loves swimming, but he has to wear a life jacket as he keeps rolling on his back, (we are sure he will get it in time) and Ms Maggie, well, she is not so interested in the pool at all, so she just hangs out with the people and watches her brother swim. She loves to walk around and seek affection from everyone and anyone who will give it to her!
Maggie would love a foster or forever home to get her out of the GRRAND kennel and show her how great home life is! We know she came to GRRAND with her brother Evan, but she is fine to go to a home either with or without him as long as there is another stable, confident dog to help teach her the ropes. She will need a fenced-in yard and a home without young children. She is working on house training and learning basic commands; even though she lived in a home, it seems like she may not have been taken outside very often. She will need a family with the time and patience to give her the exercise and direction she needs, and help work on socialization skills as she really is just a big puppy at this time.
We are still learning all about these two, so check back to follow their progress!
