About Guava's Puppies

Adoption Fee: $400

Guava, a shih tzu (possibly a mix?), came to us from a hoarding case just in time to deliver her precious little family. Thankfully the amazing ACOs had rescued her and her companions just in the nick of time. While these all male babies are only a few weeks old, we will be accepting applications for pre-approval. They will not be able to go home until they are 10-12 weeks.

Applications will be accepted for a puppy from this litter, not a specific one. We do not place puppies based on photos but work to match adopters and puppy personalities.  *Preference will be given to local adopters that live within an hour of zip code 22974.   You can apply for a puppy from Guava’s litter at www.greendogsunleashed.org/adopt

At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. But please know that we may be working on multiple applications already, and any one of them could be approved at any time. Please READ THIS ENTIRE DESCRIPTION and complete an adoption application, if you are interested in any of our animals. Application at www.greendogsunleashed.org If you send an inquiry to ask if the dog is still available, or just tell us you are interested, your inquiry will not be answered. FILL OUT AN APPLICATION. We can do NOTHING without that. No, we cannot tell you if he would be a match for your family without seeing an application. PLEASE KEEP READING for info.

*/*/* PLEASE NOTE: The first communication you will receive after completing an application will be an email response, which will have instructions on how to proceed. Please check your inbox AND spam folders for the next 48 hours, for this email. We will not begin processing an application without the information requested in that email. */*/*

We are happy to consider applicants from out of state on most dogs. Please read the description to see if this dog is an exception. If the applicant is approved to adopt, they MUST be willing to come to our location in Troy, VA, for a meet and greet. If all parties agree that the pup and family are a good fit, they would take the pup home at that time.

For more information about our mission and for an APPLICATION for adoption, please go to www.greendogsunleashed.com.

GDU does ask a minimum adoption fee of $400.00. This does not even come close to covering all expenses created by animals while in rescue. We are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum fee includes DAPP, rabies if age appropriate,, heartworm test and preventative, if age appropriate, and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying, if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. In an attempt to avoid tummy upset from a sudden change of food, the foster family may include a small, transitional bag of the food the dog/puppy has been eating. And if the dog/puppy has grown attached to a special item (like a toy or blanket), they may send that along, as well.

*/*/* Young puppies will receive age-appropriate vaccines, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Adopters may be required to provide additional puppy boosters and at 16 weeks of age, a rabies vaccine. Future annual vaccines, testing and monthly heartworm preventative are REQUIRED, and will be the financial responsibility of the adopter.

*****Due to the sheer number of animals and applications in our program, coupled with a limited number of volunteers, applicants MUST have patience as we process applications.   If you do not hear back from us, the animal may have been adopted.   We strive to let people know but sadly cannot offer reasons for denial beyond that.  Any harassment of our volunteers will go unanswered and we will simply block you.   Our volunteers spend their time working hard to ensure the very best for each animal.   Please remember the animal, not the applicant, is our client.*****

Banner is a gorgeous 10-month old standard poodle. He is playful, has a wonderful personality and is a love bug. He has quickly learned the routines in his foster home. He is full of poodle puppy energy and is learning about personal space and what is/what is not appropriate. He crates well - is quiet and clean. He is working on house training and leash skills.  He sniffs the foster's cat and then moves on. He would love a home with another dog to romp and play with. Banner will be ready for his new home after being neutered in the coming weeks. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Meet Beignet she is a very sweet 7 to 9 month old, deaf and mostly blind mixed Lab dog. She is very sweet and gets along with other dogs and cats and would love to have a guide dog in her new home. She is 90% potty trained, sleeps in a pen at night and knows how to use a doggie door.  Beignet also knows to go to her mat at meal times and wait for her food. Sometimes she gets a little excited and knocks her bowl over. She also knows when you touch the top of her head to sit. When she needs a little assurance and guidance she gets between her foster mom’s legs and follows her. She loves chewing on bully sticks and playing with squeak toys. She has no idea that she is any different than anyone else. Beignet would love a spot on your couch and in your heart.  At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Benny is a mixed breed handsome fella about 4 years old who prefers a quieter home and does best as an only-dog. He prefers to meet new people outside first and then does well with them inside. He is very cuddly to his people and enjoys car rides and adventures. He loves lounging in the sunshine, barking at the deer in the field, and getting the zoomies all around his yard. He's a country boy at heart and would prefer the quieter life in the country. Apartment life and busy city life is not for him.  He should go to a home with older kids and no other dogs. He has been cat-indifferent so far. Benny is available to adopt through Green Dogs Unleashed. At the time you are seeing this post, Benny is still available for adoption. This little 15 lb, 2-year-old Doxy mix, Buxton, is a true joy to be around. Big and small, everyone falls in love with him. He is a delight to watch as he finds his toy bin, food bowl and knows when you are in the room. Being deaf and vision impaired has not hindered his little spirit at all.  He loves attention and is happy to lay in your lap or beside you. He loves children and other dogs.  He is fine in a crate and is working on housetraining and leash walking.  He’s smart and has learned to come up the steps and through the doggy door after pottying.  Buxton is a happy and very lovable companion who would prefer a home with another friendly dog. Introducing Eilat! This precious 7-week-old male puppy may be a mystery breed-wise (possibly a Cocker Spaniel mix?), but one thing is certain: he's overflowing with sweetness! Despite being born without eyes and being deaf, Eilat's potential for a fulfilling life shines through when he's surrounded by loving, patient owners dedicated to positive reinforcement touch training. With their unwavering commitment, he will blossom into an adoring companion. According to his foster, Eilat may be blind and deaf, but he possesses a remarkable social nature, adaptability, and an insatiable curiosity. He exudes confidence and thrives in the company of his two older foster dog siblings. Exploring the backyard brings him immense joy as he revels in the scents and delights in finding the perfect stick. However, what truly lights up Eilat's world is being cradled in loving arms and showered with affectionate snuggles. He adores lying on his back, reveling in belly rubs! Eilat is a great sleeper and has a healthy appetite, ensuring he grows strong and happy. While we would prefer to find him a home with another gentle dog to act as his guide, what he truly needs is a family brimming with love and compassion and a commitment to training. Please note that Eilat will be available for adoption at 8 weeks old, towards the end of May. We can't wait to find this special pup his forever home, where he will receive all the love and care he deserves. If you're ready to open your heart to Eilat's unique journey and provide him with a lifetime of happiness please apply today at www.greendogsunleashed.org/adopt/ At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Just as in the Never Ending Story, prepare to be inspired when you meet Falkor. When faced with adversity, Falkor has proven that "Nothing" can stand in the way of living life to the fullest and bringing happiness to those around him. He symbolizes power, strength, and luck. Despite being deaf and vision impaired, Falkor navigates through life with joy and zest. He is young and playful and truly enjoys the company of other dogs, particularly ones about his size. He loves to run free and explore. At just 2 years old and about 15 lbs, Falkor still has a lot of puppy in him. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines and is working on his potty training and crate training. When he's sleepy, he will be your best snuggle buddy. GDU does ask a minimum adoption donation of $120.00 for cats. This is a minimum donation and does not cover all expenses as we are funded solely by the angels and volunteers willing to donate time and finances. This minimum donation includes age appropriate vaccines and flea and tick treatment, as well as neutering or spaying if the animal is medically sound to undergo surgery. This minimum donation does not even begin to cover the actual expenses each animal has while in rescue, but does go directly towards vet care for our rescue animals. show less

You can apply for a puppy from Guava’s litter at www.greendogsunleashed.org/adopt At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Introducing Kiwi, one sweet, delightful, and loving kitty! The smallest one of her litter, she is also the most patient and gentle of the bunch.  She loves to be held and petted, which really gets her purring!  Her favorite toys are a soft ball, a string toy, and the fringe on a blanket.  Fully litter-trained, she would be an easy and welcome addition to any family as she is content on her own or with children, cats, and dogs.  She is simply one lovable, affectionate, playful little girl!  Fun fact: When not playing with her favorite toys, she can often be found sleeping in her foster family's Barbie house! Meet Orbit, a 1 year old Smooth Coat Border Collie with constant wiggles! Orbit has spent his entire life outside with very little socialization, but he's ready to learn and is LOVING getting to be an inside dog. He's doing well with crate and house training. He LOVES exploring, getting to know his puppy foster brother, smelling new smells, and goes absolutely bananas for a ball or frisbee to play with. He's going to make an amazing fetch companion for a lucky family! Orbit is very high energy and will need a home that can give him enough exercise and stimulation, plus a little bit of patience in helping him learn how to be a dog. He would excel at sports like flyable or toss and fetch, freestyle, agility or likely dock diving. He has incredible speed like nothing we have ever seen. When around farm animals and cats he has remained focused on task and showed no sign of chasing, though we never guarantee compatibility with other individuals.   At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Panda is the most remarkable Siberian Husky we know! This 1 year old gentle soul loves all people and other dogs and after being in a knowledgeable amazing foster home for the last few months, walks well on leash, is housebroken and crate trained, and knows some basic obedience commands. Panda is soft and loving towards his people, and even adores children. We would love for him to go to a home with previous Husky experience, or large breed dog experience. Panda is true to the Husky breed and while he may do okay with very dog-savvy cats with proper training and slow introductions, a home without experience doing this should not have cats. Panda would love a fenced yard or an active family willing to commit to Leash walking. At the time you are seeing this post, this dog is still available for adoption. Presenting: Peaches, a wonderfully fun, outgoing, and adventurous little kitty! She is always the first in her litter to check out a new toy or to start a play session!  She is curious about all that is going on around her, and she does well not only with her siblings, but also with other cats, kids, and dogs. Did I mention that she's fully litter-trained, too?  While she loves to play, she also loves a good snuggle, especially a great chin or head rub.  Peaches is one active, affectionate, and loving girl!  Fun fact: She loves to run through her foster family's Barbie House, but, when it's time for a snuggle session, her favorite spot to be is right in someone's lap.
