Let me tell you a little story about MAD Fury aka Foo-Foo, Monkey, Munchkin, Pumpkin, Jelly Bean, Gremlin: She was scheduled to die. The shelter didn’t understand her trauma. Being on the street as a smaller dog is tough. She had to learn how to survive and she’s very good at it. It translates in her being very vocal about needing her space - from people and dogs. It worked, she survived … until she was caught! MAD took her in because we saw more than the scared scary dog. And she is SO much more!! She’s been on a journey with her foster from Idaho to Utah to Colorado and currently in Washington. She adjusts really well to new places and an inconsistent schedule. She’s been the easiest foster when it comes to house manners and off leash hiking! She’s perfect in the house (aside from the occasional snatching of food on counter). She makes the cutest face when she wants something. You can just look at her and she starts wiggling her tail! She will patiently wait for your return and be so excited to see you…whether you’re gone for a minute or 5 hours! She will make you feel loved! She has worked on her resource guarding and she’s a lot better. She’s learning to wait for her food. However, this needs to be taken into consideration when you have other dogs. Although she’s very vocal she never gets into a serious fight with her foster fur sister. They have a perfect dynamic which she will need in her forever home - she needs a sibling who is neutral, confident and non-reactive. She needs a sibling who won’t fight her over a toy or food but rather walks away. She will need a sibling who is confident enough to not get bothered by her display when they meet - she demands boundaries through bark and hackling up. However, after about 30 min she will engage in play. She loves wrestling and playing tug-a-war with her fur brother!! She would love a furry friend! She just needs time to warm up and know that the other dog isn’t a threat! Even though she can look like an evil gremlin when she bares her teeth and hackles up, it’s all show. That’s how she talks, plays and asks for space. She loves chewing on hands and tries to move your hands around when she plays. She doesn’t have a soft mouth but she also doesn’t want to hurt. That’s just how she plays and communicates. Yes, she may bark and hackle up at people to create distance but really she wants cuddles and love…she just needs to make sure you’re safe and to be trusted. She needs someone who understands her and advocates for her! She is great in crowds and can walk through it without any issue…she mostly just gets intimidated when someone pays attention to her. Please understand where she is coming from, she may never be that friendly super social dog. She's met dogs on hikes and after a bit of walking together she does well but proper introductions are a must. At home, she is perfect. While her foster mom works from home, she sleeps, sometimes comes to get pets. She’s just perfect as a buddy for your work at home time! She is territorial like all working breeds and will bark at anything outside the house/car/fence, so if you like a protective dog, she's your girl. She loves going on outings and has no problem going on 8 hours derives cross country! She loves sticking her head out the window! She loves putting her head on a shoulder creeping forward to give kisses. Sometimes she jumps in the trunk to yell at the wipers. She loves water and hikes! She loves running around in the forest, at the beach, in a field etc and will need that in her future! When she starts running at full speed she looks like a torpedo dashing through the field/woods! She has great recall - absolutely loves running back to her hooman! She always seeks out water and is a strong swimmer. She will need someone active - biking would be fun for her, possibly - she needs to run! She will also need a yard - you don’t want too experience her zoomies in an apartment. She’s praise, love, food and toy motivated! She has tried Scent work and the trainer was astounded by her natural talent!!! She would thrive in that world! She's currently trying out Barn Hunt...she's a bit spooked by the rat in the cage and the new environment but is warming up to it. Things she is learning: sit, down, place, come, stay, off, touch, break. She doesn’t like to be in a submissive position like down…so that’s going a bit slower. Waiting before exciting house/car. Waiting her turn. Sitting to get collar/leash on. Heel - she’s pretty good on leash but doesn’t have a pretty heel. Auto sit in heel. Quirks: she doesn’t like to get picked up and can panic, so slowly getting her used to that. Terrible with nail clipping. Has lots of energy to burn so sometimes she just runs back and forth in the house. She makes a lot of noises. She barks at the car window closing/opening. She whips her head around when a fast truck goes by. She loves giving kisses but please be warned she doesn’t ask for consent and is quite intense with her loving! Absolute Velcro dog - will follow you into the shower and lick you dry after. Barks and hackels at strange dogs and people as well as when she is excited and in play mode. She is so ready for a loving home who understands her and wants to love her. Someone who can see past her tough “pufferfish” (hackles, bark) exterior and learn about the sweet, loving dog underneath! She deserves a home where she can thrive! She needs an experienced handler who can set her up for success. This home should be experienced with working breeds, have no kids or prey animals.
