Madeleine is a 1.5- 2 year old pregnant Dutch Shepherd just pulled from an Atlanta area shelter. She is the mom to our soon to be born Pastry Perfection Litter named in honor of the foster mom's husband who is a baker and has opened his home with foster mom for multiple MAD puppy litters.  It hasn't always been easy, especially when the hurricane came through their area a little over a month ago.  They stayed the course with the MAD mom and her 11 puppies while dealing with damage to their home and no power for over a week.  We believe Madeleine will give birth shortly and will update as soon as we know more on Facebook and on MADs website. First off Miss Maggie would like to thank the people that were involved in making it to her foster home from the Redlands of Florida. From the lady that trapped her, the vet and vet techs that started her healing process, her counselors Mo and Bri for advocating for her, and her transport team. She really appreciates all the love and kindness everyone has shown her on her road to rehabilitation.  Maggie is surprising everyone with her progress integrating back into the human world. Who would have thought it would be a cat to begin to unlock her puppy curiosity about that world.  She has gone back to just being a puppy and all the awesomeness that brings, instead of being forced to grow up too fast. She may have been attacked by a dog or dogs while roaming the Redlands, but her foster friends are assuring her that was a freak occurrence, and she has started to interact and even instigates play now. She will also greet, touch noses, muzzles with the other dogs as they come back inside. She’s now working more and more on her body language with other dogs and understanding corrections when she oversteps her boundaries. She is also starting to learn her boundaries. Responds well to “No” and sits like a champ. She begins leashing training Halloween week, so lots of treats and maybe her trick will be showing how quickly she catches on.  Her foster human has learned that you can sometimes tame a maligator with belly rubs. She likes to snuggle before bed with her foster human and is learning dogs can be decent substitutes if needed, just no belly rubs.  Maggie does well with the dogs in her foster home and would likely benefit from having fur siblings in her future adoptive home. She does well with dog savvy cats that aren't afraid to show boundaries through a pity-pat. She has not yet been tested with children. She does attempt to instigate play with cats as well. She does well with corrections from both dogs and cats in the foster home. Mando is new to the rescue and we are just learning about him.  He’s people friendly, seemed indifferent towards the female dog but was in shelter environment with lots of distractions. He loves squeaky toys and will chase them. He’s a very loving dog that just needs a little time and patience to learn new things. Mando has some drive as he chased birds flying out of a bush but was easily directed away. Mando would not do well in a home with birds or small animals. He appears he may be potty trained as he typically wasn’t messing in his kennel run.  Mando will need some help with giving back toys but likely won’t take long as he was willing to swap a toy for one of my tasty treats. Mara is a 'Unicorn' Mal and happy one at that!!. She is sweet and manageable for someone familiar with the breed.  According to her foster, Mara is absolutely wonderful! She gets along well with the resident Mal. She loves to wrestle, play tug and chase the ball with him. She has good ball and frisbee drive. She is affectionate and head butts for pets and loves to have her neck rubbed. Mara is low to medium energy and not at all mouthy. Mara needs a minimum of one or two 30-40 minute sniffing walks.  She also needs a fun game or two of frisbee in the afternoon or evening. She's very food motivated, and positive reinforcement using treats is best training method for her. She is a very sweet, sensitive soul and will do best with a gentle approach. Does fine on a harness or martingale on walks and hikes.  Mental stimulation is an important part of Mara's daily routine. She enjoys chewing and licking and spending quiet time in her open door crate with a Kong or a Topl or perhaps a bully stick or pig ear. She would also enjoy more interactive games like Hide and Seek" "Find It."  Mara has mild separation anxiety and will do best in a family where someone will be home most of the time or with an active retired person and she is able to keep her person in 'line of sight.' She'd be most happy to sleep in her crate or on a dog bed in the same room with her person. As with all dogs, she wants to be close to her pack. Mara is an indoor dog.  Mara has prey drive and not be placed in a home with cats, small animals or children under 12 yo.  She needs a big yard with a 6+ fence to play ball or frisbee in. Mara would do best in a home with another playful dog. Reasonable, slow introductions are necessary. Dog parks are not recommended.  In public, Mara is a dream. She is friendly without being over the top. She is very well behaved in the car and shops. She walks well on leash with a martingale collar, She loves being with her people, wherever they go.  Overall, Mara is a wonderul lower drive Mal who is affectionate and a lot of fun. Mavi, an 8 month old dilute blue Malinois, was trapped in South Florida. He is a very energetic boy who loves to fetch, run, and play. He is currently in level 2 obedience training and has been started in scent work.   Mavi is a very smart boy with a sweet and loving personality and loves to be near his people. He has put on weight and is in overall great health, however he has a weak right rear foot and leg that can be built up with the right amount of exercise. Mavi needs a family that is mid to moderately active to help him learn and play without overdoing it. He is good with kids and other dogs but does have bad puppy manors. His favorite games are keep away and tug. He is crate and house trained, but needs frequent potty breaks for reinforcement. He has not been cat tested as of yet, but does not have a strong prey drive. He bonds very tightly with his human and can't get enough attention, affection, or together time.  Memphis is up to date on vaccinations. He is neutered. He has a good ball drive and loves to play.  In some of the photos you can see that he got a batch and did quite well for a first bath.  He has had an injured paw in the past. This is being treated with rescue and his foster home. It is starting to heal up. Millie is a gorgeous Belgian Malinois. She was saved from Euth at the RGV shelter in Texas. She is currently with a foster in Austin TX.  Millie is a very sweet and submissive girl. She is currently intact but we are working on getting her scheduled for surgery.  Millie is heatworm positive but she has completed her first round of meds and will begin the next round shortly.  She is good on a leash.  She seems to be dog selective. She is curious about cats but hasn't shown any full-on aggression. We pulled Myra from a Miami Shelter that sent out an urgent call to rescues to help a 4 month old puppy with a broken jaw and injured leg. it was obvious she was in pain and looks like she was suffering from dog bites.
