Hello, I'm the goodest boy, Duke! My journey began on a lonely chain, where I endured months of isolation and neglect. Despite my challenging start in life, for 3.5 years, I never lost hope. My days of confinement did not break my spirit, and I'm proof that love and care can transform a life. Now, I'm on a mission to discover the joys of a true home. I'm learning to trust, love, and play like any other dog should. I adore kids, get along with cats and other dogs, and my eyes and ears light up when you call me a "good boy".  I'm looking for a forever family who will continue to nurture my newfound freedom. Did someone say "velcro dog"??? Elam is a very sweet boy who showed up at a home in KY as a stray. He's now made his way to Cross Your Paws in Pittsburgh, and is staying with a foster family. In his foster home, he has an 11-year-old foster sister that he co-exists with nicely. So far, he is not very playful with his dog-sister, or his mom. He would probably prefer to be the only dog in a home because he wants a lot of pets and snuggles, but he defintiely can be around other dogs, as long as they are laid back. He's gotten more interested in stuffy toys, but still has not shown an interest in chewy or peanut-butter filled toys. He loves to be by your side at all times, and will push his face between your hands and another dog. He gets very jealous and just wants to be appreciated for being the handsome boy that he is! Elam is a small guy at only 26 lbs, but needs to gain 5-10 more pounds to be at a healthy weight. He's gained a few pounds in foster so far, and loves meal times and treats! He's a very laid-back dog, and everyone who meets him is surprised at how relaxed and chill he is. He's non-reactive to other dogs that pass him on walks, which is a big bonus! He has a small pray drive and will try to chase the bunnies in the yard, but is quick to reset, and doesn't hyperfocus on wildlife. He absolutely loves to be pet constantly and can't get enough ear scratches and belly rubs! He loves to snuggle up against you, and sleeps in his foster mom's bed with her and her other dog.  show less

I am 9 weeks old and love playing and exploring but also snuggling on my soft bed. My foster family took me to a brewery and I was the best boy. I loved seeing all the people and other dogs. I know sit and come. I do my business outside but you just need to let me out like any other puppy. I'm getting the hang of the crate at night, my foster mom calls it night night time. Hello, it's me, Glen Coco! You may recognize my name from the iconic 2000's movie, Mean Girls, but not to worry, I'm a very nice boy! I was on death row for some time, as my previous owners told the people at Cheat Lake Animal Hospital that I was aggressive. However, after two months of being at CLAH and playing with other dogs, as well as a professional temperament test, the good humans of CLAH and CYP have determined I'm not at all aggressive. In fact, I'm the opposite! I play nicely with other dogs, have no interest in cats, am good with kids, and am all around a 100% good boy! I'm estimated to be about 5 years old. I'm up to date on vaccines and am neutered. I do need a lot of physical and mental stimulation because I've got A LOT of energy. I've also got A LOT of love to give. Inca My name is Inca! I’m a German Shepherd Dog, approximately 8-10yrs old, and 62lbs. I was found lying in the center of a busy roadway! I was so tired and sleepy that the people coming up the road thought I’d been hit and killed, but when they stopped to move me, I got up! I went right to them because they seemed friendly and they brought me to this place called a shelter. That’s where I am now, it kinda feels like jail but I didn’t do anything wrong! If I have owners, they never came for me, maybe I got too old to have puppies and they just didn’t want me anymore. I am pretty indifferent to other dogs, I prefer to just rest and relax. Im good on a leash. A low energy household would be best for me, without hyper dogs or kids, I wouldn’t hurt them but I would be more comfortable just chilling out with you. Hi my name is Lady. I am a shy and quiet older girl who is looking for a home that is laid back and doesn't yet have a furry companion. They say I am 10 years old. I am a very calm gal that loves just laying around. I think I would make a perfect fit for someone or some family who is looking to have a shadow, cause I'm going to follow you everywhere! Besides being the best sidekick, I also enjoy napping, snacking, and walking. I am well-behaved on a leash and get real happy right before it's time to go outside. I especially like to stop and smell the flowers, even if they sometimes make me sneeze :) And I am housetrained. When it's time for slumber, I'll sleep in bed if you let me, but I also don't mind being in a crate or on doggie bed nearby. I would do best in a home without other dogs. I am fine with older kids. My ears are super sensitive so they are off limits. I’ve been told an ear ablation might help, but because of my age the doctor is worried I might not survive the surgery. I’m so sorry that my ears got infected, and my old owner didn’t take me to the vet a long time ago. Due to this I am part of the "Forever Foster" program, so when I am adopted CYP will cover pre-existing conditions like my meds for my ears. All I want is to find my forever home where I can be loved, be a couch potato and not have anyone bother my ears so I can finish living out my golden years in peace.
