About Scrappy

Adoption Fee: $600

Meet Scrappy, a 1-year-old neutered male Australian Shepherd/Cattledog mix weighing approximately 47lbs. 🐶 This sweet boy has already passed the puppy chewing stage and is ready to bring joy and companionship to a loving home. 🏡❤️

Scrappy is a young and playful dog who still possesses the intelligence and energy characteristic of Australian Shepherds. He thrives on both physical and mental stimulation, making him an excellent companion for an active individual or family. 🐾💡

In terms of health, Scrappy is up to date with all his annual vaccines and monthly preventatives. He has tested negative for 4dx, ensuring he is in good health. 💉🩺

Scrappy is crate trained and walks reasonably well on a leash. He is highly people-friendly and would be a great fit for families with children aged 8 years and above, considering his size, age, and breed. While he hasn't been tested with cats, his compatibility can be assessed. 🚶‍♂️🐾👪

Sadly, Scrappy ended up in the shelter after his previous family claimed they could no longer keep him due to a move. They left him all alone in a scary shelter, but he has proven to be resilient and is doing exceptionally well. He walks excellently on a leash, has adapted to potty training, and is comfortable sleeping and staying in his crate while his humans are at work. 🏠💪😴

Scrappy is truly a wonderful dog, and he's eagerly waiting to find a forever home where he can receive the love and care he deserves. 🥰🏡❤️

Meet Abagail, a darling 12-week-old female lab mix whose journey to finding a loving home has already been filled with both heartache and hope. Abandoned along with her three siblings at a tender age of only 9 weeks old, Abagail's story is one of resilience, compassion, and the unwavering spirit of survival. When Abagail and her siblings found themselves in the confines of an animal control facility, our hearts went out to them. Their innocence and vulnerability demanded immediate action. One lucky pup, a yellow one, was fortunate enough to find a forever home. However, the other three—Abagail and her siblings—desperately needed a lifeline, a way out of the animal control's grip. Recognizing their dire situation, we stepped in without hesitation. Determined to offer them the chance they deserved, we committed to saving Abagail and her two remaining siblings. Together, we embarked on a mission to provide them with a future filled with love and security. Abagail has blossomed into a social butterfly, eagerly extending her friendly nature to everyone she encounters. Whether it's cats, kids, or other dogs, she welcomes them with open paws and a wagging tail. Her gentle disposition and ability to connect effortlessly make her a perfect fit for any loving family. While Abagail is not fully housebroken just yet, rest assured that she is diligently working on her training in the nurturing environment of her Tennessee foster home. In addition, she is already crate trained, showcasing her adaptability and readiness to become an integral part of your family. Imagine the joy of witnessing Abagail's playful energy as she learns and grows with you. As she acclimates to her new surroundings and receives consistent guidance, her housebreaking skills will develop further, solidifying her place as a cherished member of your household. Abagail's tale highlights the resilience and strength that puppies possess, even in the face of early challenges. By opening your heart and home to Abagail, you'll not only provide her with a safe haven but also experience the profound joy of nurturing and shaping her into the wonderful companion she is destined to become. She is heading over to her New England on May 27th, and is eager to see where her life up north will take her. Arlo

Arlo NEEDS A NEW ENGLAND FOSTER!  He needs a hail mary, before he is returned back to TN. We are a smaller rescue, that is NOT  backed/funded by the governmemt, we are not sponsored by large corporations,l and we have never received a grant. Our rescue runs on small donations from individuals and our adoption donations. We are a foster based rescue, which means we DO NOT have a physical location to house dogs who don't find a foster or adoptive home. If we DO NOT have anyone to take a dog in, we have to send them back to TN.  We are a volunteer run organization, each person in the rescue is a volunteer.   Arlo is a YOUNG dog, at 1 year old. He had a hard life, where he was never loved or cared for. It evident in his behaviors when we got him into rescue that he had no idea how to dog. Arlo had done amazing in the 6 months we have had him in rescue, even with set backs he has shown us time and time again, that he tries his best to learn and understand.  Arlo was with us in TN for 5 weeks before coming to New England, Arlo spent 6 days a week at doggy day care, and did wonderful! With dogs of all ages, sizes, genders and breeds. He was basically an over grown puppy. He was eager to meet all people, with a friendly and excited hop! He worked on his basic commands and learned how to sit, and was housebroken. He made his way to New England and was placed in a foster home with a dog and a cat, and he was doing wonderfully. Until one day he played a little roughly with the cat. The cat WAS NOT HURT. It was him just trying to play, but because he is so much bigger than his feline friends he should go to a home with no cats.  **NOVEMBER 2022** Arlo was adopted into a family. A couple of months later, Arlo began displaying signs of behavioral issues that were unfortunately unable to be worked with. He was taken to training in which the trainer mentioned it would take more time for him. We had taken him back at this time. Arlo was placed in another foster home. We let the foster know hes a rough player, he's young, and he needs some work. He is not good at reading cues from other dogs and is possessive with toys.  He was doing well with his foster brother for the first 2 months he was there. On Saturday, January 14th, Arlo went to a 5 hour adoption event, with a bit of a car ride to and from the event. Events are highly stimulating for a dog - It raises their cortisol levels, and without decompression, that cortisol continues to build and build until a dog will react. Sadly, after the event, he went home, and was given a toy ( as a reward for being a good boy at the event), and his foster brother was also given a toy. With cortisol levels high, stressed from the event, and he can already be a bit toy possesive, (like kids, dogs DO NOT understand that I have a toy, and my friend has a toy, they just want the one the other one has. Arlo went to get the toy, from his foster brother, and Arlo had accidently bit his foster brother trying to get the toy.     We can list Arlo as "Not good with other dogs", but thats is ignoring the root of the problem, and cutting his chances of finding a home in half. He is good with other dogs, great with many, but until he learns how to dog, and how to read cues from the other dog in the home, toys should be given only when separately. Arlo has bounced from house to house to house, never getting the chance to really settle in. He never gets to the part where he feels at home ( both his past adopter and last foster had him under 3 months, 3 months is the time it takes for a dog to feel completely comfortable in their home, and feel at home). With being moved before settling in his leads a dog to never truly feeling comfortable and confident in their home.    What ARLO NEEDS: He needs an experienced dog owner, He needs someone who has some experience with toy possessivness, and/or rescource gaurding, ( Arlo does not gaurd anyone or anything, excpet having an incident over a toy once), a family who will give him TIME, and continue to work with him on his training. No cats, No small pets like rodents, birds, he does have a high prey drive ( he loves to watch birds and squirels from the window) No small children, Arlo loved children but he jumps, and has a lot of energy and can unintententionally knock a small child over).  EITHER NO, other dogs in the home, OR a dog whose energy MATCHES Arlos - ONLY IF THE ADOPTER HAS EXPERIENCE the breed and (TOY POSSESSIVNESS). A fenced in back yard, where he has a place to run around and play safely. Arlo is really a good dog, and very smart, he learns quickly, and he is a true sweet heart of a dog, and in the right home he could be a wonderful dog and make a wonderful companion. He is smart, housebroken, crate trained, sweet, and playful, and wants to do his best. He just needs the right home, and the right guidance to get him there.    Arlos history when we saved him: We saved Arlo from a kill shelter, he was picked up as a stray and brought to Animal Control, he was given 3 days for his current owner to claim him (if he had an owner), or find a new adopter, or be saved by a rescue. Paws Rescue League works hard to save many dogs facing this situtation. Healthy, young good dogs are euthanized for space, as Animal Control needs to respond to calls about strays, so if they are full of dogs that no one claims, or adopts they would be unable to pick up any other dogs. We as well as the local Humane Society, and a few other rescues, work tirelessly to save these innocent dogs lives, who want nothing more than to be loved. Arlo is a bright light of happiness and joy! Even when in the scary shelter where he was unsure where he was or what would happen, he was trusting of everyone, and was as wiggly as a worm, and a huge smile on his face. He was just beaming with positivity. To think this beuatiful light could be extinguished soley because he was taken up a kennel is awful.   Arlo was temperament tested, and taken out of the shelter and placed in a TN foster home, where he got lots of love, and affection, and went to the vet for a physical exam, and HWT, neutered and vaccinated. Arlo is currently in his CT foster home, and he is very much a Husky Shepard mix! You have never met a sweeter, more loving and happy dog. Arlo is truly a wiggle butt! He wags his tail with such happiness his whole body wags, it is the cutest thing, then add his huge happy smile! He is truly a great dog, who loves everyone and has never met a stranger ( everyone is a friend).    Arlo is a male,  White swiss shepard/husky mix, who weighs about 38lbs. When he was picked up by Animal Control is was very clear he was very under weight and malnourished. His ideal weight should be about 50-55lbs. He is not a fan of the crate, after his adoption and return, he has picken up on house breaking amazingly well, our guess is he spent much of his short life on his own, outside, and eager to meet and interact with people. Arlo is good with other dogs, he is too rough and too much for cats, he is good with children, we suggest older children as he is still learning all "indoor manners", and how to be the best FURbaby! Arlo is still working on his training to be a dog, and learn how to communicate with other dogs. Arlo does have at times have a  hard time sharing toys, or understanding that he cant have a toy, and needs someone who can help him work on that, or keep toys up and away when other dogs are around.  Alro just needs someone willing to give him time and understanding. show less

Introducing Aster, a charming 10-week-old male beagle/Chihuahua mix searching for his forever family. Aster and his littermates were entrusted to our care by the same family who also gave us Olive and her five siblings. Since we didn't have enough space for all the puppies, we reached out to another rescue organization, which kindly agreed to take in the remaining five pups. Sadly, this marks the sixth litter from the same family in just the past 10 months. Aster's story highlights the challenges faced by innocent pups born into unfortunate circumstances. However, we are determined to break the cycle of unwanted litters and ensure these puppies receive the love and care they deserve. We took the responsible step of neutering their male dog, even though the family was reluctant to part with their female Chihuahua mixes, female beagle mix, and female Aussie mix. At 10 weeks old, Aster is currently in the process of learning house training and making great progress under our patient guidance. He is also familiar with crate training and finds comfort in having a secure space to call his own. Aster's most endearing quality is his friendly nature. He loves being around people of all ages and is known for his gentle and playful spirit. He will undoubtedly bring joy to any loving family he becomes a part of. By opening your heart and welcoming Aster into your home, you can provide him with the stability, care, and affection he deserves. Together, you can embark on a journey filled with moments of happiness, laughter, and unwavering companionship. If you are seeking a small and adorable addition to your family, Aster is eagerly waiting to shower you with love. Daffodil was found dumped in the woods on a mountain, with her mom April, and 3 siblings Lilly, Peter Rabbit, and Peep. A civilian found a puppy running across a dirt road and they followed the pup into the woods where they found 4 puppies, and a mom dog who were all starving, they had no food, their bones were visible, and the puppies ( estimated to be 9-10 weeks old), were trying to nurse from mom but she had no milk. The puppies were sick, and weak. They were found on Easter morning, at 1:00am. We were sent the information and reached out to the finder who took them home. We had a volunteer pick them up and take them to the ER vet that sunday morning to make sure they did not have parvovirus. Lucky for the pups they did not have the deadly parvo virus. But were filled with 4 different types of worms.  We got the puppies, and mom vaccinated, and dewormed multiple times. Momma April was spayed, and has already been adopted! These puppies are a mixed breed of dogs, we give our best educated guess as to each dogs breed, based on appearance, behaviors, and traits.  We believe they are probably mixed hound/Dacshund/terrier/lab Now its time for her 4 babies to find loving happy homes, where they will never be left out in the cold, or abandoned again MAY 2023 UPDATE: 🌼🐾 Introducing Daffodil: The Energetic Beagle/Small Terrier Mix Seeking an Active and Loving Home! 🐾🌼 Meet Daffodil, an adorable 1.5-year-old female Beagle/Small Terrier mix weighing approximately 30 pounds. Daffodil is a true runner at heart. Daffodil is fantastic with people and kids and prefer a home without other animals. Her love for human companionship knows no bounds. Daffodil is spayed and house trained, making her transition into a new home easier. She enjoys lounging on furniture and delights in sleeping on or in the bed with her beloved people. She has already mastered several commands, including Sit, Stay, Leave It, Paw, Come, and even a cute command called Touch, where she gently touches your fingers with her hand. Mention the words "treat" or "carrots," and she'll eagerly run indoors in anticipation! Her favorite treats include baby carrots and Blue Hill dog treats in the apple yogurt flavor.
