About Kasey
Kasey is a 5 year old Goldendoodle that was turned into a shelter by (yet another) Amish breeder who was "done" with her. She is in a foster home and her foster mom can not say enough wonderful things about her:
"She is known at GRRAND by the name Kasey but we call her Dacy (she seemed to respond to that name better) and she is the kennel mate to Daisydoodle that is also up for adoption on the website. Daisy's write up is very similar to what I would write for this sweet girl... seems they are so much alike it is obvious they are sisters!
So, this lovely girl... well, she is adorable and she is adoring of me and my husband! She simply won’t leave my side day or night as she cannot get enough love as it is certaqin she never got it before! When she arrived here she was skeptical of men but has figured out that he is her best friend too! Her new family will need to know that her adjustments will take time, but they will happen with a loving and caring family that is willing to be there for her. Kasey gets along well with other dogs, and If she has siblings she would need a young active dog as she is very strong and fast with lots of energy! With her high energy, she has knocked my dogs down accidentally, and she will probably do the same with kids uneasy on their feet, so older children would be best.
We have learned that she wants attention SOOOO much, that she pushes her way in between me and whichever dog I am paying attention to at that time. It has caused a few issues with our senior alpha dog, and they have had a couple "tiffs" over who is the boss... they are working it through with eachother but we have never seen any kind of issues with people at all.
Kasey (Dacy) barks protectively at any new person that enters the yard or the house but she will warm up after a few minutes. She is house trained and like her kennel mate is described in her bio, Dacy does not resource guard food or toys. She does not like dry, hard dog food, but will eat it if gravy or some tasty liquid softens it. (yes... she is already being spoiled!) She has learned to like dog treats from my dogs but she does not beg for them and she does not get on furniture except when scared, THEN she jumps up on the couch. When this beauty came here, she was a terrible jumper, as she had nearly knocked me over a couple times when I was not prepared, BUT she is getting much better as we are working on it. Yes, she will still jump up on me, (but not my husband interestingly enough) when I first get home and she is excited and also when she is scared of something or someone new, but it is a work in progress! She has been through so much and knew nothing when she came to GRRAND, so it's just time and direction that she needs to figure it out. I would add that she is learning and or figuring things out VERY quickly. She heals, comes and sits, but is not so good on stay yet... another work in progress.
Car rides?? She is wonderful as she will just lie down and be quiet the whole way.
Dacy has helped herself to a few things around the house…..at 2 am one night she had a picnic in the living room with a box of caramel popcorn,.. (I think she wanted us to put on a movie for her as she couldn't sleep LOL!) but WE left it out, and we ALL learned that she loves carmel popcorn, and that we need to have food put away!
Our sweet foster Dacy is wonderful in the yard, will come running when called and sit a perfect sit when she arrives to the caller! We are so humbled, as after what she has been through, she is such a loving, attentive dog! Dacy is starved for all of the love and attention she can get, (that she never had before) and we love her so much and know that her new family will be so lucky to have her love and affection as we do. Her new family will need to be patient and have the time to give her the direction and exercise she needs and know things will fall into place... but not right away. She has missed out on so much in her first 5 years, and we are excited for HER, that she will have the opportunity to finally get the TLC she so deserves from a loving family".
