About Brandy

Adoption Fee: $325

(DOB 1/18/2023). Due to Brandy's young age, she has not yet been spayed. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).

Sweet as a glass of Brandy; that's how we describe our cute girl! She has a loveable personality and wants to find a person who will spoil her rotten! Like a little sweet craving, you won't get enough of Brandy!! She is excited to meet any new person and is all sass and personlity! She can be the life of the party for sure. Rub her belly she thinks it's the best, rub her ears; they are like little velvety blankets.

Little Ms. Brandy wants a big furry brother or sister in her fur-ever home!!  A furry sibling with similar energy level to play with and help teach her proper socialization is very important for her growth and development. She also wants someone who will take her to new places, see new things, and meet new people. She is a bit of a social butterfly so wants to get about and about! Don't leave her behind. Brandy hasn't meet kitties yet, but likely could be adopted into a home with dog savvy cats; puppies tend to adapt well to cats and learn quickly what the kitties will and will not tolerate.

A big fenced yard to run around and play with her fluffy brother/sister is exactly the kind of thing she is looking for in her new home. Children (8+) would be great especially if they plan to play and snuggle with Brandy every day. Toddlers or young kids are not a perfect fit since Brandy is both teething and learning bite inhibition. This normal growth period is important for pups but not a great match for very young kids.

Brandy is at the puppy age where she eats, plays, pees, poops, sleeps and repeats. She loves all kinds of toys and wants you to play with her. Make sure you carve out several times a day you are ready to play, play, play!! Since she is still young and will be going through house training, someone home a majority of the time/flexible/work from home schedule is really what little Brandy is looking for. She is too young to be crated for long periods of time.

We encourage anyone adopting a puppy to join positive reinforcement training class(es) they are great for the pup and the parent. There is so much to learn about behavior in a group environment that helps with proper play and a great way to build consistency in training basic commands. Brandy wants daily walks outside of her fenced yard, too. Leash walking is important for any dog as they grow older for even basic things like going to the vet regularly; a well behaved dog on leash is important!

As part of Brandy’s $325 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered. If you have questions about this sweet little girl,
you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Brandy, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org.

Abby - The QUEEN - Foster to Adopt Option

She is the QUEEN... you live in her kingdom... you will do her bidding and abide by her rules!  She will give you all of the love she has and she really enjoys spending time with her people - ONCE SHE GETS TO KNOW YOU!  More often than not, if you are sitting or lying down she will be close by, preferably using you as a pillow.   Laps really do make nice, warm, cozy napping spots. She is the Queen after all... and wants to be treated as such. She is a playful girl.  She still acts like a kitten when it comes to playing and small toys she can swat around seem to be her favorites. When not playing, she enjoys lounging at the top of her cat tree so she can see everything.  She likes to survey her surroundings and see what is going on. So, really, the best of both worlds = playful and chill!   She needs to make sure everything is as it should be in her little kingdom!   Abby needs to be the only cat in the home--she does not get along with dogs or other cats.  She, and she alone, is QUEEN OF THE CASTLE!   She will be a wonderful companion to the person who will commit to loving her and accept her terms. She does well with adults and should be okay with older children who understand to take things on Abby's time.  A little patience goes a long way with her - she may be a bit shy and timid at the first meeting - but once she gets to know you she will be "all in"!  Until she gets to know you and trusts you... she will be standoffish and likely give you the eye.  If you move too fast for her comfort, she will swat at your hand.  Remember... her kingdom, her rules. Abby is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all shots. For more information and to fill out an application, go to www.pawsforlifenc.org. Foster to adopt option is available. show less

Amelia has the best ears and such beautiful expressions on her gorgeous face!  Don't you agree?  She is medium size (~48 lbs) and would love a home where she is given a lot of opportunity to play and be a pup. She loves playing and would do great with another playful pup or a day or two at doggie day camp is always fun as well.    She loves going for walks, is curious, eager to please her family, very smart and treat motivated.  She is learning good leash manners but does pull if she sees something that excites her. We use positive reinforcement training with treats, and she is responding well. It is a great part of her wonderful daily routine. Ameila is a sweetheart; she loves snuggles time with her humans.   She is also content being outside and soaking up all the sunshine.  A fenced yard is required for Amelia; she loves to run, play and burn of energy.  Another dog isn't required for Ameilia; however, a fun, furry sibling to play with would be great fit for this young, playful, happy girl! Her new family will need to make sure they have the appropriate amount of time to spend with her burning off her happy excitment. She loves all kinds of toys, so stock up on a variety for her to play with. Probably not a perfect apartment pup as she will bark when she hears noises outside.   Not only is she dog friendly, she was tested at the shelter and was curious about cats. Her foster kitty sibling has not given Amelia the opportunity to interact. She will chase if they run, and she likely wants to play.  So a family with dog-savvy cats should be ok.  Amelia is also good with kids and lives with 2 little ones in her foster family (2 and 4 year olds).  She knows no stranger and loves everyone she meets. Amelia can be super happy when she sees new dogs or people, and we are working on her exuberance level; sometimes she can hardly contain her excitement to meet you. She may jump and bark, and just know it's all because she is super happy and interested in saying HELO, I AM HAPPY TO MEET YOU!   Amelia is really a bit of a couch potato, so someone to sit with her and watch, TV, read and relax would be wonderful. She loves spending time with her humans, too!!  Ameilia is doing both crate and house trained; no worries there :). She sleeps in her crate night.    Amelia isn't quite sure about the lawn mowers and they scare her a bit. She has really become a road trip fan and loves going on car rides, so don't hesitate to take her with you. DOB 09/27/2021. She is a female Bulldog mix. As part of Amelia's $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Amelia, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Aspen would be an awesome addition to your family! When you see her you will see she has the most beautiful brown eyes that sparkle in the sun against her gleaming, sleek black coat.  She has a big, bright smile guaranteed to brighten your day with two great ears that are most often found - one going up and one going out. What's not to love??   Aspen is very smart, gentle, and loving. She gets along with other young, playful dogs and would love another fun, furry sibling in her new home.  This girl is also good with kids. She plays with her foster sibling who is 3 year old dog off and on most of the day.  Aspen would like a little time being introduced to new dogs and get to know them.  She isn't a huge fan of doggie daycare or dog parks...she likes a smaller playtime environment.   She loves toys of all kinds and has no problem "stealing" them from another pup!  Make sure to have a variety on hand for her to play with! Aspen does not require another pup in the home as long as her family makes sure to give her lots of love, attention and spends a lot of time with her playing and burning off energy.   Give this girl a yard with a 5ft fall fence so she can run and play.  She loves the out-of-doors and has a fun time chasing any of those little creatures like rabbits, cats, squirrels or birds so if they find their way into the yard off she goes giving chase! She would much rather be in the yard then walking on a leash.  She hasn't tried to jump so a 5ft fence should be fine; she will dart at an open gate so keep those latches/doors secured at all times.    Aspen also loves the car so feel free to pack her up when you are on the go. She will be a great road trip companion. Plus she is good with strangers; just a little shy at first.  With some love and attention, her beautiful Aspen smile will greet everyone! She has the shiniest, black coat with the cutest ears that go this way and that. She has a lady swish, swag, just a little limp that makes her have the cutest little Aspen shuffle.     She isn't quite crate trained at this time; she sleeps in a spare room and does fine.  She is already potty/house trained so no need to worry about that.  She uses a doggie door at ther foster house and let's herself out when she has to go.  She loves doggie day care as well.    She is smart lady and already knows basic commands like SIT and DOWN.  She likes going for walks and is good on a leash.  She will just be an overall AWESOME addition to almost any family!  So what are you waiting for?  Aspen is just a perfect girl so wait no longer to fill out an application and get approved for adoption!    DOB 06/01/2019, Lab mix. As part of Aspen's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Aspen, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

(DOB 12/23/2022). Due to Boo’s young age, she has not yet been spayed. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).   Baby Boo, is the one and only girl in the Monster's Inc litter. Sassy and sticking up for herself in a land full of big brothers, she holds her own quite nicely. Boo will most definitely want another playful and energic doggo in her new home! She is the smallest, but none of that stops our girl Boo! She a feisty, independent, high energy girl who can hold her own with the boys and put them in their place!  Sometimes when she becomes frustrated with one of her brothers, she will just stand defiantly in front of him and “yell” at him. It's really quite funny!   She would love for you to give her all of the butt scratches; she will be wiggly, twitchy, smiley and lovin' it the whole time!! She is so stinking cute when you scratch her adorable little bum. She twists herself into a circle because she enjoys it so much.   When Boo relaxes, she loves to be held and get snuggle time. She gets so excited about it that she wiggles around for a bit and needs a minute to calm down. Once she settles, she really enjoys lap time. Her mom and siblings all have a sweet temperament similar to Boo’s, and they all love to be around people. Boo was around younger children for a while and did well so a home with kids familar with dogs and about 8+ years so age should be fine. Because Boo is a puppy, she sometimes nips to get attention, but she is quickly learning to give kisses instead. She licks her foster mom’s leg a lot!   Boo and her littermates are very smart. They learned right away to sit on command for a treat, and are doing very well with other training. They are learning to stay calm to receive their treat, and to take their treat nicely. They are still puppies, and puppies have sharp teeth and can be a bit nippy. Boo and her siblings have been learning bite inhibition, and are doing well with not biting very much, or very hard, but they do still bite sometimes. Boo is very eager to please, but can get distracted easily, so shorter and more frequent training sessions will probably work best for her. Remember training is very, very important in the 1st year as well as lots of variety in places, people, and things to go and do. It builds confidence and a well rounded personality.   Boo loves to play with toys – any toy! Squeakers, plushies, chew toys – Boo loves them all. She enjoys playing tug with her siblings, but she really wants to play tug with you! Puppies love to chew, so Boo will need a big supply of fun puppy toys. Boo is not yet house trained, but she has done well with learning to use a pee pad. She is very bright, and treat motivated, so she should be easy to house train. She makes a big production of having to poop, so you will definitely know when she needs to go out! She has access to a crate and sometimes sleeps there, but she has not yet been officially crate trained.   She has not yet met other dogs (that will be coming soon!!), or kitties, but she’s young enough that she should adjust easily. The younger you introduce puppies, the better!   Boo is a beautiful female Pittie mix puppy with the most adorable eyebrow mark. It's like a little new make-up fashion trend she is planning on starting. Boo’s mom is about 50 lbs and has the most beautiful Pointer-like markings, so Boo is expected to be about the same.   As part of Boo’s $325 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Boo, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 1/18/2023). Due to Bourbon’s young age, he has not yet been neutered. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).   Though most Bourbon's made in the US come from Kentucky, our Bourbon comes straight from NC! Bourbon could easily keep you warm, like the slow burn of the liquor he is named after. He has beautiful markings that are similar in color to a nice glass of Bourbon as it catches the light. He has that black and pink speckle of his cute nose and lips that just make you want to give him a sweet kiss! His big, brown eye brow arches accentuate his gorgeous, "you are under my spell" eyes!   Do you have the time and patience for a playful puppy? Well Bourbon would like to give you some great reasons to adopt him. He is super cute, he is love bug, he is happy fellow, he is a great companion for another playful dog, he promises to give you lots of unconditional love!   Bourbon is a happy little puppy with a friendly disposition. He loves everyone he meets and wants to play and get your love and attention! A home with another playful and energic pup is needed for Bourbon's new home so he has a furry sibling to look up to and help teach him the ropes. Socialization with other dogs is really important during the 1st year, so taking Bourbon out and about and meeting other pups is an awesome way to to teach these important skills.   A family/person that is home a significant amount of time or has a pretty flexible schedule is also important since he is learning house training and will need to be on a routine for his little bladder. His new home should have a fenced yard for him to play and run around in and burn off puppy energy.   We encourage all new puppy parents to look into group, positive reinforcement trianing and classes for their furry pup. These build great skills for both the puppy and the parent. Bourbon is at that "I am a sponge" learning stage and the more fun filled training with treats, toys and/or love the better. This includes leash walking; even with a fenced yard, so when he goes the vet and other places he is well behaved and not pulling his parent around.   Though Bourbon hasn't been cat tested; puppies typically adapt well to dog savvy kitties quickly when introduced at a young age. As for children, a home with older children (not young, toddlers, etc.) say 8+, becuase puppies are learning bit inhibition during this time and teething so they are biting and chewing on everything. We don't want little ones toes or fingers ending up in the mouth with sharp teeth. Young kids should be supervised with puppies to ensure proper interactions.   Bourbon loves toys and lots of variety to use his blossoming brain! Make sure to have a toy chest filled with fun things to engage him and keep him occupied and chewing on appropriate play items.   As part of Bourbon’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Bourbon, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Red dogs have more fun! Desiree can add the fun in your life that you and your pup have been missing! Desiree is a bit on the shy side, but once she gets comfortable with her people, she is the most fun to have around! Having a brother or sister will help give Desiree the confidence that she needs to move around and explore her new environment and go on walks. Desiree is playful on walks with her foster sisters and it's just adorable to see. Desiree has shown some interest in cats, but is too shy to approach them, so a home with dog-savvy cats would be fine for Desiree.   Cute head tilt and beautiful markings! Desiree is gorgeous and just absolutely stunning in person. She has the most gorgeous coloring and beautiful facial expressions. Her coat is silky soft, and she has velvety ears. She is a head turner!!   She has a little bit of a timid personality, but with lots of patience and high-value treats, she will warm up to her new family in no time. A family that will have patience for Desiree to acclimate to her new environment with another dog would be best for Desiree. Desiree takes time to adjust to changes in the home and likes routine. A solid, sturdy 6ft fence is needed for Desi. She loves being outside and playing in the yard with other dogs and people.   She is currently working on leash manners, so a family wanting to work on positive reinforcement training is important. Desiree does best when she has another well-mannered dog to walk with her. Desiree has learned “sit” “wait” and “leave it.” She is working on recall and “stay.” Training with Desiree takes time and patience due to her very shy nature. Once Desiree warms up to her new family, at least fifteen minutes of training every day will be necessary for her to retain what she has learned and to continue to learn.   She is very sweet and can definitely be a snuggler or lap dog and would like to cuddle with you on the sofa. She will lean in on you to give her some love and attention. Desiree will give sweet little paws at you to let you know that she wants some pets. She is super sweet and loving if you give her the time to get to know you.   She is crate trained and house trained. Desiree does not let her people know that she has to go outside for potty time, so regular potty breaks are needed throughout the day. Desiree is still adjusting to car rides. She does well once in the car, but getting in the car takes extra coaxing. She does best in the car when she has a friend to ride with her.   She is a 2-year-old, 45lb female Hound mix. As part of Desiree's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Desiree, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org show less

Do you ever wonder how dog's get their names; well Dodger got his because he was rescued by a Good Samaritan while “dodging” four lanes of traffic. Quite an "exciting" way to get your name! Now, that he is safe and secure, we learning what an awesome doggo he is!  For example, he does great in doggie daycare; gets along well with other dogs. He loves to “ruff” house with equally playful doggie friends.   Do you love daily walks? Dodger is godd on a leash and has a lot of positive energy to burn on long walks or jogs, so what an awesome partner he will be for you! He is super sweet and truly a lovebug at heart.  Dodger can easily be described as a sweet, friendly gentle boy. He will make a such a great companion. He could like be in an only dog or would love to have some playful doggie friends in his fur-ever home! If you don't have another playful pup for him to romp and roll with, make sure you have time to have several play sessions a day. He likes toys to squeak, chew, a play tug and fetch with (no promises he will bring it right back, though).   He gets very excited when he sees new dogs and people so expect him to be "talking a lot" to get everyone's attention.  We are working on this but it's just hard for him to contian his happiness.   Are you ready to meet Dodger? Then fill out an application so you can get approved for adotion!   (DOB 12/24/2017) He is listed as a 5 year old but may be younger 3-5 estimate. He 59lb male Hound mix.
