He has a beautiful coat and those eyes! Who can resist? Casper the Friendly Dog, is looking for a forever gig which allows him to show off his smarts, loyalty, goofiness, and stunning good looks! He’s a smart fellow, too, and learns quickly. He’s fully house and crate-trained and now working on basic obedience and leash manners with which he’s making amazing progress with positive training, consistency, and patience. Casper lights up every room he enters and has a great, joyous spirit about him. He loves, loves, loves to play – tug-of-war and any kind of ball – fetch and tether ball, too. He has good energy, although not “over-the-top” and some solid play and run time in the back yard with a long walk or chasing a laser light will get him ready to snuggle with you on the couch and watch TV before he retires to his crate. He sleeps in his crate all night very well but loves to sleep with his human, too, if he gets the chance. He goes into “baby mode” at night and just wants to snuggle and be held. Casper needs some specific things in a forever home to be safe and happy: an active owner with good dog experience who has the time and patience to spend training a young, strong dog; experience in training using positive techniques; a fenced yard where he can get his play on; to be the only dog would be ideal; and, while his foster parent is a mom, he really responds well to men, so it would be ideal to have a man in the home that would spend time with him and treat him well. He is young and had a hard start in life, so needs love and patience to help him evolve into a perfect dog! It would be best for Casper to avoid homes with: 1) people of elderly age or children less than 10-12 years old due to his strength and energy level; 2) apartment/condo/close house living – due to his energy and he can be vocal if he sees/hears unusual or new things or noises. (He’s a very good watch dog.) 3) home with cats or other small animals, including small dogs, in the home because he will definitely chase and try to catch them. He does resource guard food, toys, and his crate with other dogs, so just keep that in mind. He has no guarding with humans at all, over anything. He does best with female dogs of his own size who are confident and who have good doggy social skills, but constant supervision is a must when he’s with other dogs, particularly at first. DOB 01/07/2022, male Hound/Husky mix. Of importance, too, he has no signs of being deaf, which can be genetically present in white dogs with blue eyes. Casper is adorable and weighing in at around 48 pounds. As part of Casper's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
