Hellloooo!  My name is Achilles!!  I am just a young guy looking for an active home who might want to do some fun sporting things, like agility, dock diving, and who knows scent work, the possibilities are endless. I might be a GREAT SAR prospect as well. Who knew I had an aptitude for so many fun things!!!  My foster momma says that the people who used to have me didn't come pick up at the shelter when I got busted for running around the city streets by myself.  The shelter people called them but they never came to get me.  Now I am learning ALL sorts of fun new things. I even get to pretend Iam a SHARK!! oh my gosh and just after Shark Week too, but I don't think I am very scary,  I heard people laughing when I was swimming.  I like to play... A LOT.  I will bring my foster momma toys all day long. She says I am like the energizer bunny.  I am not sure who that is.  My foster parents talk about high toy drive and high food drive.  Again I thought driving is for being in the car which I think is pretty cool  My fosters are working on obedience with me. Stay, Sit, Down, and that dreaded NO.... sigh.  I am also working on crate training. I will not lie. I do not like it.   I am good with small dogs. Allegiance is an enthusiastic and lively pup who absolutely adores playing ball and sprinting around. He has a great rapport with other dogs and is incredibly intelligent, making excellent strides with obedience training. Toys, balls, chews, and stuffed animals are amongst his favorite things. Although he can get a little too excited during mealtimes, he waits patiently for his turn and never shows any hostility. In fact, he is so food motivated that he has been doing wonderfully with some hand-feeding training, demonstrating remarkable gentleness. His leash training is also going splendidly, and he is even quite comfortable with baths and water. While he still has much to learn, Allegiance is making fantastic progress and has enormous potential. He's incredibly curious and loves to explore, but we've had to limit his access to the first floor for now as he has a habit of investigating everything with his mouth. However, with more toys and focused play, he's become more engaged and less prone to doing this.  He's a good sleeper and does well in his crate at night, although he does need a bit of a bribe to go in initially. He does have a bit of a prey drive, but can be easily distracted with the right motivation. Allie is a 1.5 year old female Malinois with an incredibly strong ball drive. She can go nonstop, but she also has a great off switch. Her energy level is around 7 out of 10, which means she can really match the energy of her owner. Allie is a big cuddler and loves being close to her person. She walks nicely on a leash and is working on some basic commands like down, stay, and place.  She's friendly with other dogs, confident but not dominant. She won't let another dog walk all over her, but she's not interested in starting any fights either. She's pretty indifferent towards new people and does not actively seek attention from them. However, she'll gladly accept pets if approached correctly.  She's great with kids and allows them to approach her, or she'll go to them.  She can sometimes get nippy when she's excited so older children or dog savvy younger children will be a better fit. Heartworm treatment is easy peasy so don’t let that stop you from applying. It’s a great time to work on bonding and obedience training and heeling. Mental stimulation games, scentwork, etc. Just can’t get their heart rate too high. The one thing we can say about April, she is a total love bug. She has all the kisses and tail wags in the world to give. Artemis, or Party Arti, is a gorgeous petite female with high energy and some good drive! She is small but mighty! She will need a job! She's the type of dog that will hang from a tug toy tied to a tree! She will need someone who can chanel her energy. She is more of a sprinter than a long distance runner, though.  She is good with other dogs after proper and very slow introductions and plays rather well but she is an energizer bunny and she will not turn into a pumpkin at midnight but rather get her second wind. She seems to prefer submissive males. She respects correction from confident females. She does not do well w/ reactive dogs. She loves wrestling.  She works really well on leash for a confident leader. She works best with a structured life and someone who has good boundaries and sets fair and clear expectations.  She is quite timid at first but once she trusts, she is loyal and loving. She hopes for someone patient to see and uncover her potential! She is very puppy like and is quite mouthy; thus, we recommend no children in the home. I was the goodest girl for the Guy who cleaned me up and fixed my broken leg, I didn't need any meds to keep me calm. My Foster mom says I am melting her heart with all my kisses. I'm such a smart girl I learned so quickly that if I wait for this thing to go under my belly we can go for a nice walk and I don't get hurt. Aurora may come in a small package, but she’s big on personality! At only 40-pounds, this petite Mal radiates happiness. Aurora LOVES water and has recently begun dock diving. As added enrichment, Aurora was introduced to Lure Coursing and is a natural! (See video of Miss Aurora in action.) Aurora is a real people person and accomplished cuddler. Both food and toy motivated, she’s attentive and eager to learn. She will need an active, confident handler committed to ongoing training. This super fun sidekick is ready for any adventure! With proper introductions and management, Aurora can coexist with other dogs. She has a high prey drive and can become fixated on smaller animals. Barb is a wonderful goofy playful girl looking for her furrever home.   Barb was turned lose on the streets and left to fend for herself when she was taken in by two kind souls.  However, they quickly realized that they couldn't keep her so they turned her over to MAD rescue to find her the kind of home she deserves.   Barb loves to play ball and tug. This poor boy has been surely used as a bait dog!! MAD found him at a Central Valley shelter in CA and just had to get him to safety. He spent about 10 days in the shelter, where he was patched up and staff took good care of him, but he didn't have any rescues lined so we just could NOT not help! He is the sweetest goofball ever. Even with his massive injuries, he's kept such a sweet demeanor. He's even good with dogs even though he's been attacked over and over! He is going to his foster home where he can decompress and learn what it means to be safe .. we will learn more about him and update on his progress soon. Blu is a healthy, intelligent and energetic 1.5-2 year old high-drive Dutch Shepherd/German Shepherd (60/40) mix who is looking for his forever person. Within a few days after rescuing Blu from the shelter it was apparent he was an exceptional dog with enormous untapped potential. He has been at a local board and train in Florida known for its expertise with shepherds and working breeds. He is doing awesome and everyone’s favorite dog at the facility; working on socialization, leash handling, and general obedience. Building confidence with leash work, impulse control, and releasing items have been primary skills for Blu. Also, he is naturally cautious dog, so he’s worked on comfortability around people. His foster prior to training shared that he stole their hearts immediately: smart, alert, affectionate (with those he trusts), eager to please, always ready to work, obedient, and full of personality. Blu is a dynamo and, with the right leadership, will be a faithful and devoted dog. A single-family home would be ideal for Blu without small animals or children.  Potential for living with another large dog in the home with proper introductions. It is important that Blu is matched with a confident handler who will follow up and be consistent with his training, make sure he gets exercise and mental stimulation, read his cues, and direct his energy through positive outlets like scent work.  Local adopters will have the opportunity to work with the trainer to ensure Blu’s has a smooth transfer to his new home.
