About Zappa

Adoption Fee: $50

Zappa is a very sweet boy who loves to get all of the pets. If you can get past his long, amazing whiskers, you'll see such a handsome face with the sharpest green eyes! While he hasn't been in our care very long, we can tell that he is a very loving boy who is ready to settle in with his new family.  We do not know what his experience with other cats or dogs is but he seemed okay when being walked past the cage of another adult male kitty so would likely be fine with slow introductions to other friendly cats.  He does seem nervous if a dog comes close to his cat condo at the store. We was experiencing a little pain after arriving into our care so we did an xray and a pain injection and that resolved his problem.  He appears to have an old injury around a few vertibrae in his shoulder area.  He could potentially need pain or steroid medication with flare ups in the future. Apply to adopt to schedule a meet and greet or visit him during our weekly adoption event at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, from 12-4 on Saturday.

All available cats are spayed/neutered, current on vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, administered dewormer and monthly flea preventative.

My name is Bailey. I am an adorable young man.  If you want a lap kitty who wants to be petted, wants love and comes running to you for pets..I am your man.  I have been around my cat foster sister, she plays nicely and likes to snuggle with me.  You see I am FIV+ which makes me special.  You see I can be around other cat as long as they play nice with me (no fightiing that might cause a deep bite wound). I am, after all, a lover.  I arrived with an ulcer from an old eye injury and my eye is still healing but the vet says I am fine now after they gave me some medicine for awhile. I think it makes me look mysterious. The doctor says I currently have limited vision out of that eye but it may continue to improve over time. Bailey is FIV+.  This means he has a compromised immune system.  He can still live with other cats as long as there is no fighting which causes deep bite wounds.  He did well with dogs when he was outdoors, surviving on his own until he came into our care.  He would follow the neighbor's dogs as they went on their daily walks and he was friends with everyone around as long as they were friendly and calm.  Someone there would have adopted him but there are restrictions of one pet per home in the retirment community he came from.  He is ready for a home where there are no other pets and lots of love and snuggle time from his people.  Apply to adopt to schedule a meet and greet or visit him at the Thrift Hound, 7 days a week during regular business hours.   All cats have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, are current on vaccines, been given dewormer and started on flea preventative.    show less

Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! This pet is NOT available through Mountain Pet Rescue.  Please do NOT contact MPR for information about the pet or apply to adopt this pet on the MPR website.  Contact Happy Tails Country Club at info@happytailscc.com or 828-628-8510 for more information or to adopt the pet. Barbi was found roaming along the highway in Greeneville, SC late at night, so we're not sure about her history. So far we've learned she is a spunky, happy, medium-sized, young mixed breed. Barbi is very eager to learn, and she's super food-motivated!  From what we can tell, she knows "sit," and she is likely house-trained (she has not had a mess inside while boarding with us). Barbi is very healthy and very, very friendly... Almost too much! She has a wonderful, bubbly personality. and she seems so incredibly happy to meet every human and dog in sight!  Barbi loves to play with toys and other dogs, although she is still learning the basics of dog etiquette. It doesn't seem like Barbi had a lot of structure in her past life, and she could definitely benefit from learning a few manners. Her new home will also need to meet her needs as a young, high-energy pup!  Barbi does not have a mean bone in her body; she just wants to play and play and play! Thank you so much for helping us find Barbi a home! If you have any other questions, feel free to contact us at info@happytailscc.com or 828-628-8510. show less

Hey there! So you're looking for a pup?!  Well my name is Bear, and I am looking for a new home. I am a 2-year-old Black mouth Cur (I think), about 65 pounds, spayed, chipped and up to date on all my vaccines. Even though I am not allowed to walk without a leash yet, I do mostly well on a leash when I know where I am. Sometimes things distract me and I get excited, or even scared when I’m not familiar with the trail…hm, maybe that’s why I always need a leash. Either way, I love my daily 1.5 mile walks, and running around my ½ acre backyard; this really helps get my energy out. I don’t want to be picky, but I know a similar situation would be a must-have for a potential new family. Speaking of family, I was adopted when I was 5 months by a family with 2 young boys. I loved the big guy since the car ride home, but it took me a little longer to warm up to everyone else. I think I was really just nervous and scared being so young, because now I usually warm up to most people pretty fast. I play well with the boys, even though I can get a little too excited and have a tendency to knock into them or what they’re working on. I also like other dogs, but similarly, can be on the rougher side. I think it would be important that my new home does not have smaller children or dogs, but I would love another big dog to play with! I should confess that sometimes my love can require a lot more in return. I actually have separation anxiety when the big guy is away, and I can be a bit protective. I usually settle down when he leaves, or when I meet new people, but it can be a little hard for me at first. Really, I just need a lot of love and attention, with a bit of rough housing. Oh right, speaking of housing…I am quite proud of how well I learned to live in a house! Although I can make a mess tearing up my toys, I do not chew shoes or couches, and I always do my business outside! I also learned some basic commands (and a few not so basic) after we found the right training program for me. To be honest though, I may have forgotten a few. You see, I live in a more free roaming house, and the folks here are not really able to keep up with my training. I know in my heart that someone with good training experience, especially with ‘spirited’ pups like me, would be the best match.   Also, there is just a little bit of medical/dietary info you should know; a little while ago I started taking some joint health supplements after I was having some troubles walking. A surgeon had said that I don’t need surgery, but instead if I take these supplements for the rest of my life, I should be fine…so far so good! I also really like raw meats added to my kibble, especially ground turkey or salmon (I think the salmon really helps my joints, too!). I know this and the supplements are little more than most people are used to, but I would love it if you could afford me this…I really don’t require much more than that, not even treats all the time! Just one at bedtime! Well, I really hope you are considering bringing me into your family. Even though I love my current family, I think we are just at different stages in our lives that can make things difficult. Just to recap, I know it would be best if you could devote a decent amount of time and love to me, and use your training experience to keep me busy and on track. I look forward to seeing you in your big yard, and where we will always be walking! Please contact the big guy when you're ready to meet me, or have any questions. Attention: This is a courtesy posting only! Meet Goliath! This big boy (approx 90 pounds) is about 5-6 years old, and he spent most of his life on a chain. Despite the neglect and abuse he suffered, he's a very sweet boy who loves to soak up cuddles. He's being fostered at Ruff Life Dog Training where they are working with him to become the best boy he can be. He may be OK with some dogs with careful introduction and experienced owners, but would prefer to be the only dog.  No small dogs and absolutely no cats. He likes kids, but due to his size, we don't recommend small kids. Goliath has heartworms and is being treated with the slow-kill method, so he won't require crate rest. The treatment is simple: a monthly application of topical flea/tick/heartworm medicine called Moxidectin -- this is the only approved med for slow-kill heartworm treatment. All expenses for the heartworm treatment will be covered. He's been neutered, dewormed and has all his vaccines.  Goliath is very adaptable, been comfortable with every place and change he's had and doesn't seem bothered by much at all. He's had a very hard life so far, and he deserves to be treated like a king.  Contact Tessa at rufflifeavl@gmail.com or 828-365-8244 if you think this boy is right for you!  show less
