About Scotty

Meet Scotty! He was brought to Colorado from New Mexico on February 5th - saved from euthanasia due to overpopulation in the shelters.

Scotty is a handsome 2 year old Aussie mix and weighs about 50 pounds. This boy has the most loveable face, the sweetest big brown eyes, and a great personality to match.

Scotty is a happy boy, incredibly affectionate, goofy, and loves with all his heart. When you talk to him or give him affection he has the cutest grin on his face. He enjoys being near his people and he’s friendly to every person he meets. In the shelter he was paired with other dogs and did great. He also loves his foster mom's dog. It is important to note, however, that he did clash with another male foster in the home. This is the only dog we've seen him have any issues with so far. As with all dogs, slow and steady introductions are so important. Scotty is no different.

Scotty also LOVES kids! However, he does tend to herd them. This is nothing to fault him for - he's just doing what he was bred to do! Because of this we would recommend that if there are children living in the home they should be teenagers (13+).

He is completely house-trained and absolutely AMAZING in the crate! He goes right in and is quiet all night! He is very food motivated (in fact, he’ll need a slow or puzzle feeder). Food is definitely the key to his heart which makes him very trainable. He jumps up a little still but we’re working on that!

His breed does have a higher energy level so he would love to have another active dog to play with or live on acreage where he can run around. After he gets some good outdoor time, he's ready to go inside and lay at your feet. Some of Scotty’s favorite things are giving kisses, getting tummy rubs, observing what his humans are up to, going on walks, and playing with his people or other dogs.

Scotty can't wait to give his heart to his furever family! He has so much to offer and is the sweetest boy. He is definitely a thankful pup ready to live out his best life with this second chance he's been given! Will you be his ‘furever’ home?

Meet handsome Brady. This fellow is hungry for love and affection but he is very uncertain of humans until he has been with you a few days and will need patience. He had a rough start, found at 4 weeks with eye nystagmus, a condition in which the dog's eyeballs move involuntarily and rhythmically. It is suspected that either mom was exposed to a toxin while carrying the litter or they themselves were exposed at a very young age. He also has a mild head wobble that makes him appear he is saying “no”. Despite this condition, he is very mobile and active. Just needs a day or two to get familiar with his surroundings then he opens up and is such a good boy. He mastered the doggy door in just two days which is great since his vision is mildly impaired – much like if you were darting your eyes and bobbing your head – and he also mastered the stairs in just a day. He is a super good boy in the kennel (just a bit afraid when you first ask him to go in) but also a very good boy in the house should you need to go run an errand. Once he has met all the household pets he is very comfortable with them and very willing to play. He is afraid of loud noises and meeting new people. It is strongly advised that the whole family meet him and spend time with him so he knows he is safe. It is also advised that his new home not be a busy one with a lot of noises and hustle/bustle. He walks well on leash, again he needs patience with new surroundings until he is more familiar. Brady is currently in a foster home with 7 other dogs, ranging in size from very large to toy size and he is awesome with them all. He has no aggression or resource guarding. Brady is hoping his new furrever family who are willing to be patient with him will find him soon! We can’t say enough about how sweet this boy is! Coco is a 14month old shepherd/husky mix. She was recently returned to the rescue through no fault of her own. Her owner had moving circumstances beyond her control and had to give Coco up. Coco is a very sweet dog who will need an experienced dog owner with the time, patience and training to help her learn boundaries and deal with her resource guarding (of her food from other dogs).  She will need an owner to also be a strong leader for her.  Coco loves to play with other dogs, but they should be more submissive and slow introductions are a must when in the home. She probably wouldn't complain being an only dog as long as she had play dates! Coco is crate trained, walks beautifully on a leash and would make a fantastic adventure buddy!! Her face is so beautiful and she looks at you with eyes that are always trying to say something.  She has been around children in her previous foster home, but is not currently.  This girl will make a wonderful companion and is looking for her true furever home.  She knows her right and her left, playing dead, rolling over. Please give this girl a chance and take her home with you!!  PS- Did I mention she comes with all the supplies you could possibly need? Crate, leashes, collars, dishes, treats... If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website and complete an adoption application at www.elpasocountycanine.org/adopt show less

Colonel Sanderson is approximately 4 mos old, Black Mouth Cur/Australian Shepherd mix. He has goofy big brother, class clown type energy, definitely always trying to test the boundaries of puppy gates and stealing shoes. He’s very vocal in silly ways for attention, sometimes trying to grab his own tail. He’s an adorable bull dozer, climbing over anyone and everyone to get some kisses in. My own little chiweenie is a very feisty territorial girl, and he’s good at reading the room and is not reactive, but he loves to taunt her for fun. He arrived to my home with 2 of his litter mates from Texas and he has adjusted so well. He is learning the concept of fetching the ball and tug of war. He is doing well crate training, still has an accident here or there, but for the most part makes it outside! He definitely has the biggest appetite of his trio, weighing approximately 20 lbs, and is always near the table hoping for some table scraps. He also loves treats and exploring new areas of the yard, slowly but surely. And most recently, he LOVES eating snow! He’s a very good boy, and will do well as an only pup or even with siblings! He just might need a little time getting used to be solo from his pack, but once he’s acclimated he will be your new best friend! Meet Fish! Fish is a nearly 2 year old husky/pit mix with an award winning smile who would love to swim into your heart! She would also love to put on a life vest and go kayaking with you or even climb a mountain! She is adorably sweet, loves every person she meets, is very active and energetic and she's an A+ snuggle buddy.  She is good with kids and though she can be a bit bouncy around them, she mostly just likes to give them kisses. She is interested but friendly with cats and does well with other dogs.  Fish is housebroken and crate trained and is very smart and well behaved.  She would do best with an active person or family.  This Fish is truly Fin-tastic! Here is what her previous owner had to say about her when she relinquished her to us due to difficult circumstances... "Fish is a 2 year old 50lbs spayed husky mix. She is always up for an adventure and is the best hiking partner. She has completed 6, 14ers and is ready for more. She has a high energy level but is very calm and cuddly at home. She loves playing with other dogs and does well with cats too. Fish can be vocal when she's excited but isn't a howler and has only barked a handful of times in her life.  " If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website and complete an adoption application at www.elpasocountycanine.org/adopt show less
