About Gizmo
How cute is Gizmo? You tell us from 1-10 -- an 11? Gizmo is a happy boy weighing at right under 25 lbs. He will put his front legs on you for attention. He is happy to jump up right into your lap. Gizmo loves to receive belly rubs and neck scratches.
Gizmo is good with other dogs and good with older kids/teenagers due to size/energy/playfulness. Gizmo has a lot of happy, playful energy and will require a solid 4ft+ fence, since he is small and could squeeze through fences with spaces (sides or bottom). He also loves the car so if you tend to be on the go, grab him up and take him along with you.
Gizmo could be an only dog or be in a family with other dogs with his similar energy level. Though he could be an only dog, he would probably be happier with furry siblings that would play and romp with him. He seems to like bigger dogs bettter. If he is an only dog, the family needs to be active and ready to keep him occupied with the proper amount of play and walks to burn off his puppy energy. He may be a smaller dog but he is not a dog for a person wanting a lazy, lap dog all day...that is not Gizmo!
Gizmo's foster family is working crate training. Remember younger dogs need lots of routine and boundaries to build successes in what they learn. So his adoptive family would need to prepared to understand, be patient and continue working with Gizmo. Gizmo is house trained but as a young dog with lots of energy still needs to go out regularly to walk, run and play...in the yard and on walks to help burn off energy.
Gizmo loves all kinds of toys so be sure to have lots of variety on hand. If you don't keep him occupied with proper toys, bones and other things to chew on at his age something else might end up in his little mouth - say a sofa pillow or something like that. So make sure you are monitoring and playing with him. He also will play tug of war with you or round or two of fetch. A variety of games and play are awesome.
In addition, Gizmo hasn't had a lot of previous experience with leash walking and that is something he foster mom is working on; he definitely pulls still. His new family will want to work with him on loosh leash manners and take him for several walks a day to practice often until he learns consistency.
Gizmo has not been officially cat or kid tested. Based on his personality, responsible older kids should be fine. He loves everyone he meets and doesn't know a stranger so he gets very excited. Because of this, a family with older children will be okay, but Gizmo’s excitement may knock over a smaller child.
DOB 01/04/2022. Male Jack Russell Terrier mix. As part of Gizmo's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
