Meet Nova: Nova is about an 8 month old (as of August 2023) kelpie mixed breed (best guess) that weighs about 45 pounds. Nova was found with her sister, NIna, as strays in a small Mississippi community. Nova is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Nova is a friendly , playful and affectionate dog! Nova has been in a home full of dogs and has done well with them all. Nova is house trained to a doggie door, but will need patience while she adjusts to a new process. Meet Oaken: Oaken is a 2 year old (as of March 2023) black lab mix that weighs about 55 pounds. Oaken was found as a stray in a Tennessee State Park and rescued by a park ranger. Oaken is good with big dogs, and good at dog parks. He gets a little protective of his house, but he's good to go to other places (neutral ground). Oaken would do best in a home that does not have small dogs or small children. He has shown food aggression towards other dogs in the past, but not towards people. He loves to eat his meals in his kennel. In fact, whenever it is time to eat, he runs to his kennel and does a happy dance while waiting. Oaken is house trained, leash trained, and kennel trained. Oaken has a lot of energy and would do best in a home with a fenced in yard for him to run around in. Oaken is up to date on his shots and neutered. Meet Pancho: Pancho is a 14 month old Chihuahua/terrier mix (as of Oct 2023) who is bonded to his brother Monte. Both were adopted together as puppies but were recently returned to Charlie's Crusaders when their owner became ill and could no longer care for them. Both are now being fostered together near the Lancaster, PA area and are looking for their forever home! Pancho is a playful boy and is crate trained, potty trained, and working on leash training. Pancho is good with bigger dogs, cats, and children. Pancho is neutered and is up to date on his shots. A fenced in yard (with appropriate fencing for little dogs) is required to adopt because when Pancho and Monte get the zoomies they need a safe contained space to let out their energy! Meet Patches: Patches is around 6 months old (as of April 2023) and guessed to be a shepherd/lab mix that weighs about 35 pounds. Patches and his litter mates (Goose, Maverick, Minnie, Pickles, Fe Fe and Zoomie) were found with their mom as strays.  The finder is planning to keep their mama and are fostering the pups until we can find them great homes. This lovable litter is a group of friendly and active pups.  They love to romp and play around with each other outside.  They are currently in an outdoor kennel in the south, so they will need some patience while they work on their house training. Meet Patsy: Patsy is about a 5 month old (as of August 2023) lab mix that weighs about 20 pounds. Patsy was found with her sister, Loretta, near a dump site on a country road in the south. A nice man found them and brought them to us and we were able to get them into the rescue. Patsy is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. These Country Gals are as sweet as can be and both very loving and friendly. They both have your typical puppy energy and love to play with toys!  Patsy is very smart and loves to get treats, so she should be easy to train. As a puppy, Patsy will need patience while she works on her house training. We would love for Patsy to have a home with a fence so she can play and run freely. Meet Penny: Penny is about a 2 year old (as of November 2023) pit bull terrier mix (best guess) that weighs 48 pounds. Penny was a lucky one that was rescued from a southern high kill shelter after she was scheduled for euthanasia. Once in the foster’s home it was discovered that she was pregnant; Penny gave birth to 3 live puppies and remaining 6 were still born. She has been a wonderfully sweet mama and we want to find her and her pups the best forever homes! Penny is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Penny is a very sweet, active young lady and will need a family that likes to be active as well. Penny is a very playful girl who is constantly getting the zoomies. She is very athletic and would excel at sports! Penny is shy at first but will warm up quickly once bribed with treats and given time to get to know you. (She loves “Fromm Crunchy O’s” treats!) Penny is dog friendly if properly & slowly introduced. She prefers the company of submissive dogs her size or larger. She will need an experienced home because she will resource guard her food, treats & toys, so we don’t recommend small children for her. Penny has stunning blue eyes and a zest for life! Meet Pervis Wayne: Pervis Wayne is a 11 week old (as of October 30, 2023) hound mix (best guess) that weighs about 10 pounds. This lucky hound litter of 7 (Pervis Wayne, Delagene, Yolanda, Peanut Butter, Quinn, Carmella and Charlotte) was born on the correct property!  Their mom was a stray that wandered up to a safe location to have her litter and the property owners have decided to take in mommy and reached out for help in finding her pups great homes! Meet Phillipe: Phillipe is 6 months old and guessed to be a pit / lab mix that weighs around 30 pounds. Phillipe and his litter mates (Belle, Prince, Hunter, Magic, Maurice, Maestro, Chip and FiFi) were rescued from being sold out of the back of a pickup truck at a grocery store. Phillipe is currently in a loving foster home in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to meet more prospective families. This Beauty and the Beast litter is your typical group of very sweet, loving, curious, happy pups! They all love to eat, play, snuggle and sleep. Meet Phoenix: Phoenix is a 1-year 4-month old (as of October 2023) hound mix (best guess). Phoenix and her brother (Presley) were found as strays and brought to a high kill shelter - they did not have much time left and we are thankful we were able to get them into our rescue in time. We are thankful we were able to get them into our rescue in time! Phoenix is currently being fostered in the Drums, PA area. Phoenix is really sweet and so friendly; she loves people. Phoenix has done well with the other dogs she has met, although she may take a bit to warm up to other female dogs. Phoenix does like to play with the foster cat and bunny that live with her; it is all playful games of chase. Phoenix has been great with her 8 year old human foster brother! Phoenix is progressing with her house training - she is learning to sit by the back door to let you know she needs to go out. Hello from Quince!  Quince was born around Christmas 2021 and soon found himself being given away in a Mississippi Wal-Mart parking lot, along with his 3 siblings.  Quince has been in rescue since early 2022 and we are all eager for him to find his forever family soon!  Quince will thrive with an owner or family that will continue his training.  He has done a lot of hard work and we want him to maintain all the skills he has learned! Quince is a lean and lanky 45 lbs, and we assume he is some type of shepherd mix.  He is a handsome boy with a beautiful black coat.  Although he is a very energenic boy, a home that is more laid back, with predictible routines would suit him best.  He would do best in a home with older children or adults only that can give him lots of exercise, mental stimulation, and clear boundaries.  Quince gets along wtih other dogs when introduced properly and has learned to share toys.  He does have some resource guarding with food, which can be comfortably managed by separate feeding areas, and supervision.   Quince is in a boarding facility and enjoys regular maintenance visits from a trainer.  Quince will require a home with a fenced yard so that he can romp around freely off leash.  Quince needs an experienced dog person who will be his leader of the pack.  He is potty trained, crate trained, and knows basic commands like sit, stay, and down. Meet Quinn: Quinn is about an 11 week old (as of September 29, 2023) terrier mix (best guess) that weighs about 17 pounds. Quinn was found with her buddy, Ezra, abandoned by a creek in Mississippi. They were picked up and we were able to recently get them into our rescue. Quinn is currently being fostered in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to Pennsylvania to meet more prospective families. Quinn and Ezra are both very friendly pups. They are not too hyper and the love all people! They both love attention from their humans and will make great dogs for a lucky family! Quinn gets along great with other dogs. Rain is people and dog friendly. He can be reactive on a leash due to excitement when she sees other dogs. Rain would do best with dogs her size due to her rowdy play style.  We are unsure of Rain’s house training status, but will be assessing. Meet Ricky: Ricky is around 5 months old (as of mid October 2023) and is a cattle dog and pit mix (our best guess). Ricky and his 4 siblings were born in Mississippi and were around 2 months old when sadly their mom was hit by a car and did not make it. A family was able to save the puppies (Ricky and siblings Trooper, Tiny, Radar, and Luna) and reached out to Charlie's Crusaders to find them all loving homes. Ricky is currently being fostered near the Lancaster, PA area and he is ready to meet his forever family! Ricky gets along with dogs of all sizes, cats, a bird, and all people. Ricky is a sweet boy with lots of energy. Ricky is working on his house training. Ricky is leash trained and knows basic commands. Meet Rosie: Rosie is a 7 month old (as of March 2023) plott hound mix that weighs about 45 pounds. Rosie was abandoned in rural Mississippi near the home of a rescuer who luckily found her and brought her in to safety! She was taken to the vet and cared for and is currently in a foster home in the south and would love to take the freedom ride north to meet more prospective families. Rosie is very sweet and gets along with people, dogs and cats. We would love for Rosie to have a home with a fenced in yard to run and play freely.
