About Barkley
Can't express how happy and affectionate Barkley is - he is such a great pup and ready to join your family! He is good with children and is ALWAYS wagging his tail! . Due to his size (~70lbs) he may be too big for toddlers.
Sweet Barkley warms up quickly to new people who show him kindness and love. He has such a great personality and everyone just loves him. Barkley loves being outside so a home with a yard with a fence 5ft or taller would be awesome. He would love a furry family member and kids to play with; these aren't deal breakers but would likely make his and your life happier.
He loves all kinds of toys and having someone to play with...after that he is happy to get some love and snuggle time. He likes his doggy bed or just laying on the cool floor. He loves laying on the porch in the backyard watching the world go by and getting a little sun.
Barkley is also dog friendly and may be ok with dog savvy cats. He has not been cat tested, but he seems to have some interest in squirrels but is easily redirect. He is already house and crate trained so don't worry about that! He is also great on a leash and loves going on walks. If you put him in the car with you, make sure to put him a travel crate or a dog seatbelt/harness otherwise he may try and sit in the front with you.
This boy is smart, treat motivated and happy to please. He learns quickly with positive reinforcement training. Such a good, good boy! He does not really need to be crated. He behaves well and does not seem to "get into things." He is a bit of a door dasher and will make an effort to run out the door when his family is leaving, so this is something to work with him on. He is happy to just be with his family.
Barkley is heartworm positive and our rescue will pay for his treatment and care. Due to this, he will need to have a local adoption, within 1-hour of Wake Forest, NC.
DOB 11/28/2018. Lab mix. As part of Barkley's $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
