About Queen T

Adoption Fee: $...no adoption fee, medical coverage provided for life

Introducing Queen T:  Welcome to the Thulani family Queen T!  Queen came from a nearby shelter and is ready to find her forever family.  Queen is a friendly girl who desires a close bond with her person. She greets other dogs well and will bark at them if there is a barrier, just to make sure they see her.  Queen enjoys going for short walks.  She has a ruptured disk which impacts her mobility.  However, she doesn’t let this diagnosis stop her.  Queen is ready to find a loving hospice home where she can enjoy the rest of her days in close proximity to her family.

Queen T Summary:
- Female, 10 yrs old, 55 pounds
- Good with adults, dogs
- TBD - kids, cats

Queen passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR.  The tests are not intended to assess how smart the dog is but are important for TSGSR to determine if the dog is expected to be safe in a family home.  The tested behaviors check to see if the dog will guard or protect food or toys from people, will tolerate handling all over its body (including ears, nose, lips to check teeth, lifting paws, belly, back, and gently pulling the tail).  This dog remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies.

What's Next for Queen T:  Queen has been checked out by our vet and is ready for her forever home!  If you are interested in her, please apply now.  Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that she is well cared for.  She will come to your home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.

Welcome to Thulani Butch T!  Butch was surrendered by his owner to a shelter in Southern California due to the owner’s medical issues.  After an exciting plane flight, Butch is settling in at Thulani Central.  Butch is a friendly boy who loves human interaction.  He loves pets, cuddles,  giving gentle kisses, and just being with people.  He does well with other dogs, but prefers when they are not in his face.  When confronted by other dogs, he calmly walks away.  He would do well with another dog as long as they respect his personal bubble.  He ignored the cat at his foster home, so could likely coexist with another cat.  Butch pulls a little bit on a leash, but with training could improve quickly.  There is just so much to sniff and explore!  He has some stiffness in his hind legs that comes up occasionally, but he still can get in and out of a car without assistance.  He loves his toys, and carries them around the house constantly.  When he is tired, Butch enjoys relaxing naps on the couch.  Butch is an incredible dog who deserves a family to love him forever.  Butch T Summary: - Male, 12 yrs old, 93 lbs, current on shots - Good with adults, kids, dogs, cats, and travel in the car Butch passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into the TSGSR. He remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies.       What's Next for Butch T: Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that Butch is well cared for.  Butch will be checked out by our vets and will be ready for adoption soon.  TSGSR is beginning a search for an adoptive home that will care for him for the rest of his life, so please let us know if you are interested.  He will come to his new home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.  If you want to learn more or are interested in possibly providing an adoptive or foster home, please send us a message by clicking on the "Ask About Me" button.  We will often get feedback or "updates" from a dog's foster home and as any updates become available they will be included here.  If you would like to help Thulani save more dogs, please consider setting up a monthly donation for dog care and Donate Online Through PayPal . show less

Introducing Gunther T:  Welcome to the Thulani family Gunther T!  Gunther came from a Southern CA shelter as a stray.  With lots of TLC (Thulani loving care), his coat is shining and he is ready to show it off at his forever home.  Gunther is a stunning, classic German Shepherd who easily garners a stranger's attention because of his beauty.  He is gentle and well mannered.  He politely greets people, warming up even more when he gets attention.  Gunther’s calm demeanor shows through when he greets other large dogs as well.  He loves going for walks, only occasionally pulling.  He does well on short car trips, but vocalizes his disappointment when the ride drags on too long.  Overall, he is a calm companion, and just wants to be close to his humans.  Gunther is an incredible dog, patiently awaiting his new family with whom to spend the rest of his life.  Gunther T Summary: - Male, 12 yrs old, 67 pounds, current on shots - Good with adults, dogs, and travels well in the car Gunther passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR. What's Next for Gunther T: Gunther has been checked out by our vet and is ready for adoption.  If you are interested, please apply now!  Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that he is well cared for.  He will come to your home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.  show less

Update (March 2023):  Puff moved to a new foster home and is thriving. She loves being the only dog to get all the attention from her wonderful humans. Puff loves being close to her humans, and enjoys sitting close to them. She has finally learned that soft beds are the best kind and enjoys relaxing on a cushy pillow. Puff loves to use her nose, and might enjoy doing scent work. She loves going for walks and knows how to heel. She hasn’t quite figured out the slippery staircase yet and would do best in a one story home so she can be close to her loved ones at night as well. Puff doesn’t love when her people run errands, but she does well by herself and always gives an affectionate welcome when they return. She is a very loving girl who can’t wait to find her forever family.  Puff T Summary: - Female, 11 yrs old, 77 pounds - Good with adults, kids, dogs - TBD - cats Update (Jan 2023):  Puff T is doing well in her foster home.  She is a shadow to her humans, always wanting to lay next to them or follow them through the house.  One of her favorite activities is her puzzle toy that is filled with treats.  She uses her nose to move different parts of the toy and find treats.  She also enjoys playing with other toys, especially if they squeak.  Puff’s leash skills have improved drastically.  She now walks nicely next to her human.  Puff is the perfect companion ready to share new love and affection with her new family.  Introducing Puff T - Welcome to the Thulani family Puff T!  Puff came from a loving home where she has lived since she was 6 weeks old.  Unfortunately, her owner experienced some medical difficulties and moved to an assisted living home that did not allow dogs.  Luckily for Puff, the family found Thulani.  Puff is adjusting to her new life in a foster home where we are seeing her personality shine.  Puff is a friendly, social girl who loves her people.  Although she is shy at first, once she warms up, Puff loves getting attention and giving gentle kisses.  She enjoys the company of her two four legged foster siblings.  Puff loves her walks and has made improvements on leash skills.  If allowed, she will use her excellent mobility and to play follow the leader and appoint herself as the leader.  Puff is a companion who just wants to be close to her family.  She is a shadow who follows her person everywhere.  Puff’s gentle and sweet demeanor will be a wonderful addition to her new family.  Puff passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR. What's Next for Puff T:  Puff has been checked out by our vet and is ready for her forever home!  If you are interested in her, please apply now.  Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that she is well cared for.  She will come to your home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.  show less

SadieAnn T. is a gentle, affectionate 11-year-old female German Shepherd Dog.  She was adopted by an older couple as a puppy.  They cared for her until her “mom” passed away and her “dad” was moved to a senior care facility where SadieAnn could not live.  She was turned over to the animal shelter where she was confused but eager to be with people and very friendly to everyone who came along.  Due to her age, she was unlikely to find a new home without the help of Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue.  During her time at Thulani Central, we learned that she has no obvious medical problems, good mobility and knows a lot of commands.  She is fine with other dogs and is very open to meeting new dogs and new people.  SadieAnn loves to be with people – she comes right up and asks for snuggles.  She is good on leash and getting even better with practice.  SadieAnn is a medium energy dog who really wants to have a new family to love.  UPDATE:  SadieAnn has been thriving in her foster home.  She is a social butterfly who loves adults and even young children.  She is very affectionate and playful.  She likes to show off her goofy side and in true shepherd fashion shows off her vocalness as well.  Her favorite toy is a ball and she insists on always having one in her mouth.  SadieAnn loves her walks, but she can be insistent in following all of the interesting things she smells.  She is an athletic girl with medium energy who can’t wait to find a family who will give her all the attention she craves. SadieAnn T. Summary: - Female, 11 yrs old, weighs 67lbs, current on shots - Good with Adults, older children and travel in the car - Cats TBD - Located in Northern California SadieAnn passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into the TSGSR. She remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies.  Kobuk, one of our shelter test dogs, thinks she is beautiful and sweet and says you should adopt her.   Check back often.  We will be updating her bio as we learn more about her! What's Next for SadieAnn T: Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that SadieAnn  is well cared for and receives all medical care needed for her well being while in our care.  In addition, TSGSR is beginning a search for an adoptive home that will care for her for the rest of her life.  She will come to his new home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys. There is no adoption fee.  If you want to learn more about SadieAnn, or are interested in possibly providing an adoptive or foster home, please send us a message by clicking on the "Ask About Me" button.  We will often get feedback or "updates" from a dog's foster home and as any updates become available they will be included here. We are so happy to welcome Titus T to our Thulani family. Titus is an affectionate boy who is learning to enjoy the luxury of foster life.  Titus was surrendered to a local LA shelter after being left alone in a chain link yard neglected and having to fend for himself. The shelter neutered him and removed a mass from his neck before he found his way to Thulani. He is now settling into his foster home where he is receiving much needed love and attention as we learn more about him.  UPDATE:  Titus has settled nicely into his foster home. It took him a week or two to get settled because he is blind and needed to learn the layout of his new surroundings. He is a very laid back boy. He loves people and other dogs, calmly greeting them with a wagging tail and sniffs. He does well with the teens in the foster home as well as a younger child who visits. Titus likes to take short, slow walks and is a model citizen on a leash. He has access to the backyard throughout the day, but he likes to sleep on his soft pillow in the house. He is very relaxed, eager to please boy who enjoys chewing on toys if he isn’t napping. Titus is eager to find his forever family.
