About Buck T/Buddy

Adoption Fee: $... No Adoption Fee

Update (Sept 2022):  Buck T is settling into his foster home.  He loves people, greeting everyone with lots of kisses and a tail that never stops wagging.  He loves his walks and would be a great hiking buddy.  He’s making progress on his leash manners, though sometimes he forgets to contain his enthusiasm!  When he’s ready for a nap, Buck will lay down anywhere and sleep, but his favorite place is on a soft bed or blanket.  He is very athletic and sometimes can’t resist the good food smells from the countertop, helping himself just to make sure it’s as good as it smells.  He is working on self-improvement.  Buck is a handsome boy who is ready to explore the world with his forever family.

Buck T Summary:
- Male, 10 yrs old, 68 pounds
- Good with adults, kids, dogs
- Not Good with cats

Introducing Buck T:  Welcome to Thulani Buck T!  Buck came from a shelter in the Central Valley and is just starting to settle into his new surroundings at Thulani Central.  Buck is extremely friendly, greeting everyone with a wagging tail.  He enjoys long walks, and has great mobility for a senior.  Despite some squirming and nervousness about his new environment, Buck has lots of potential.  We are so excited to learn more about Buck as he settles into the Thulani family.

Buck passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR.  The tests are not intended to assess how smart the dog is but are important for TSGSR to determine if the dog is expected to be safe in a family home.  The tested behaviors check to see if the dog will guard or protect food or toys from people, will tolerate handling all over its body (including ears, nose, lips to check teeth, lifting paws, belly, back, and gently pulling the tail).  This dog remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies.

What's Next for Buck T:  Buck has been checked out by our vet and is ready to find his forever home!  If you are interested in adopting, please apply now!  Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that he is well cared for.  He will come to your home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.

Welcome to Thulani Butch T!  Butch was surrendered by his owner to a shelter in Southern California due to the owner’s medical issues.  After an exciting plane flight, Butch is settling in at Thulani Central.  Butch is a friendly boy who loves human interaction.  He loves pets, cuddles,  giving gentle kisses, and just being with people.  He does well with other dogs, but prefers when they are not in his face.  When confronted by other dogs, he calmly walks away.  He would do well with another dog as long as they respect his personal bubble.  He ignored the cat at his foster home, so could likely coexist with another cat.  Butch pulls a little bit on a leash, but with training could improve quickly.  There is just so much to sniff and explore!  He has some stiffness in his hind legs that comes up occasionally, but he still can get in and out of a car without assistance.  He loves his toys, and carries them around the house constantly.  When he is tired, Butch enjoys relaxing naps on the couch.  Butch is an incredible dog who deserves a family to love him forever.  Butch T Summary: - Male, 12 yrs old, 93 lbs, current on shots - Good with adults, kids, dogs, cats, and travel in the car Butch passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into the TSGSR. He remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies.       What's Next for Butch T: Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that Butch is well cared for.  Butch will be checked out by our vets and will be ready for adoption soon.  TSGSR is beginning a search for an adoptive home that will care for him for the rest of his life, so please let us know if you are interested.  He will come to his new home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.  If you want to learn more or are interested in possibly providing an adoptive or foster home, please send us a message by clicking on the "Ask About Me" button.  We will often get feedback or "updates" from a dog's foster home and as any updates become available they will be included here.  If you would like to help Thulani save more dogs, please consider setting up a monthly donation for dog care and Donate Online Through PayPal . show less

Introducing Gunther T:  Welcome to the Thulani family Gunther T!  Gunther came from a Southern CA shelter as a stray.  With lots of TLC (Thulani loving care), his coat is shining and he is ready to show it off at his forever home.  Gunther is a stunning, classic German Shepherd who easily garners a stranger's attention because of his beauty.  He is gentle and well mannered.  He politely greets people, warming up even more when he gets attention.  Gunther’s calm demeanor shows through when he greets other large dogs as well.  He loves going for walks, only occasionally pulling.  He does well on short car trips, but vocalizes his disappointment when the ride drags on too long.  Overall, he is a calm companion, and just wants to be close to his humans.  Gunther is an incredible dog, patiently awaiting his new family with whom to spend the rest of his life.  Gunther T Summary: - Male, 12 yrs old, 67 pounds, current on shots - Good with adults, dogs, and travels well in the car Gunther passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into TSGSR. What's Next for Gunther T: Gunther has been checked out by our vet and is ready for adoption.  If you are interested, please apply now!  Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that he is well cared for.  He will come to your home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.  show less

SadieAnn T. is a gentle, affectionate 11-year-old female German Shepherd Dog.  She was adopted by an older couple as a puppy.  They cared for her until her “mom” passed away and her “dad” was moved to a senior care facility where SadieAnn could not live.  She was turned over to the animal shelter where she was confused but eager to be with people and very friendly to everyone who came along.  Due to her age, she was unlikely to find a new home without the help of Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue.  During her time at Thulani Central, we learned that she has no obvious medical problems, good mobility and knows a lot of commands.  She is fine with other dogs and is very open to meeting new dogs and new people.  SadieAnn loves to be with people – she comes right up and asks for snuggles.  She is good on leash and getting even better with practice.  SadieAnn is a medium energy dog who really wants to have a new family to love.  UPDATE:  SadieAnn has been thriving in her foster home.  She is a social butterfly who loves adults and even young children.  She is very affectionate and playful.  She likes to show off her goofy side and in true shepherd fashion shows off her vocalness as well.  Her favorite toy is a ball and she insists on always having one in her mouth.  SadieAnn loves her walks, but she can be insistent in following all of the interesting things she smells.  She is an athletic girl with medium energy who can’t wait to find a family who will give her all the attention she craves. SadieAnn T. Summary: - Female, 11 yrs old, weighs 67lbs, current on shots - Good with Adults, older children and travel in the car - Cats TBD - Located in Northern California SadieAnn passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into the TSGSR. She remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies.  Kobuk, one of our shelter test dogs, thinks she is beautiful and sweet and says you should adopt her.   Check back often.  We will be updating her bio as we learn more about her! What's Next for SadieAnn T: Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that SadieAnn  is well cared for and receives all medical care needed for her well being while in our care.  In addition, TSGSR is beginning a search for an adoptive home that will care for her for the rest of her life.  She will come to his new home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys. There is no adoption fee.  If you want to learn more about SadieAnn, or are interested in possibly providing an adoptive or foster home, please send us a message by clicking on the "Ask About Me" button.  We will often get feedback or "updates" from a dog's foster home and as any updates become available they will be included here. Update (November 2022):  Shasta T has been thriving in his foster home, where he has made incredible progress on his skin and thyroid conditions.  Shasta is a social butterfly, enjoying the company of all the humans of all ages.  He likes being the center of attention.  He loves to work and enjoys the mental stimulation of following his nose and of learning new things.  He is highly food motivated and is determined to find even the smallest morsels of food that he has access to.  Shasta would thrive having a job in his forever home.  He enjoys outings with his human.  While he loves being part of a pack, he does best with one-on-one attention while going for walks.  He loves exploring and being outdoors, and at 11 years old is finally living his best life. Despite his large size, Shasta is scared of smaller breeds and puppies.  However, he truly enjoys the company of his large four legged foster siblings.  Shasta carries himself confidently, and he has an innate sense of when he needs to be gentle.  Shasta is a wonderful companion who deserves to live out his days with his forever family. Shasta T Summary: - Shasta is male, 11 yrs old, weighs 130 lbs, current on shots - Good with Adults, dogs, children, and travel in the car - Not Good with cats - Currently located in Northern California Inroducing Shasta T:  Shasta is a gentle male German Shepherd Dog who came to Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue from a local shelter.  Shasta was found stray.  He was alone, hungry and suffering from a severe skin condition.  His skin condition appears to have come from a chemical or burn accident.  While his skin is improving, he will need ongoing medication.  The best way to describe Shasta is a gentle giant. He loves to be petted and doted on.  Shasta can be pushy around food, but he takes treats gently and is overall very good with other dogs.  Shasta is great with children as well.  Shasta is house trained and crate trained.  Although noisy in the car at first, he has improved his car manners during his time in foster care and now settles down after a few minutes. Update (March 2022): Shasta is enjoying his comfortable foster home after a difficult start prior to arriving at Thulani.  His thyroid treatment has stabilized and his personality has come out even more.  Shasta is a gentle giant who loves human interaction.  He is a social butterfly when it comes to meeting new humans.  Despite his large size, he can be afraid of some dogs and young puppies.  Shasta is very food driven.  This makes taking his medication very easy as he absolutely loves peanut butter.  When he gets distracted by a smell, he follows his nose, and can even open doors, jump on counters, or tip over a garbage can.  The food just smells too good to resist!  He loves his water to go along with food, and easily can drain a large water bowl.  He walks well on leash, but occasionally shows some weakness in his back legs.  Shasta has come such a long way in his life, but he is ready to finally settle down with a family of his own. Shasta passed a set of evaluation tests before being accepted into the TSGSR.  The tests are not intended to assess how smart the dog is but are important for TSGSR to determine if the dog is expected to be safe in a family home.   The tested behaviors check to see if the dog will guard or protect food or toys from people, will tolerate handling all over its body (including ears, nose, lips to check teeth, lifting paws, belly, back, and gently pulling the tail) and the ability to get along with other well behaved dogs.  He remained calm during all of these tests and showed no aggressive tendencies.       What's Next for Shasta T: Thulani Senior German Shepherd Rescue (TSGSR) will continue to see that Shasta  is well cared for and receives all medical care needed for his well being while in our care.  In addition, TSGSR is beginning a search for an adoptive home for Shasta.  He will come to his new home with a supply of food, a cushy pad if wanted, and other goodies such as toys.  If you want to learn more about Shasta, or are interested in possibly providing an adoptive home, please send us a message by clicking on the "Ask About Me" button.  We will often get feedback or "updates" from a dog's foster home and as any updates become available they will be included here. We are so happy to welcome Titus T to our Thulani family. Titus is an affectionate boy who is learning to enjoy the luxury of foster life.  Titus was surrendered to a local LA shelter after being left alone in a chain link yard neglected and having to fend for himself. The shelter neutered him and removed a mass from his neck before he found his way to Thulani. He is now settling into his foster home where he is receiving much needed love and attention as we learn more about him.  UPDATE:  Titus has settled nicely into his foster home. It took him a week or two to get settled because he is blind and needed to learn the layout of his new surroundings. He is a very laid back boy. He loves people and other dogs, calmly greeting them with a wagging tail and sniffs. He does well with the teens in the foster home as well as a younger child who visits. Titus likes to take short, slow walks and is a model citizen on a leash. He has access to the backyard throughout the day, but he likes to sleep on his soft pillow in the house. He is very relaxed, eager to please boy who enjoys chewing on toys if he isn’t napping. Titus is eager to find his forever family.
