About Curka

This stunning girl is Curka.

Curka is a 5 year old German Shorthaired Pointer. She is up to date on shots, preventatives and is in great health. She’s also spayed.

Curka is looking for her forever home.

Curka was imported from Brazil and was part of a breeding program that produced multiple litters of high drive working dogs that have kept our nation safe.

Eventually she was sold to a security company where she entered training to become an explosive detection K9 like many of her puppies.

Unfortunately, Curka had too much drive to stay focused on the slower, methodical work required for explosive detection.

Basically, she’s a hero dog.

Curka is a sweet, high energy dog. She’s people & dog friendly.

Now I’ll discuss the special needs necessary to make this girl part of your family.

Curka is very high drive. She MUST have an active home and a job to do. She’s smart so she can learn sports, agility, hunting or almost any activity.

She has very high ball drive.

An activity is a must to keep her mentally stimulated.

She’s not wired to be a couch potato. She does like to snuggle & curl up on a comfy blanket after she’s been exercised, however.

Curka, so far, has never had a home of her own. She’s either been breeding or in training.

A home environment will be new to her. She will need to learn home manners, potty training and impulse control.

While she is kennel trained she prefers to be out of a kennel. Who blames her since she’s spent about 5 years in one type of kennel or another.

She’s starved for human attention and will escape a kennel or clear a fence to get your attention.

Not having any experience in a home she will become a wild child and get into mischief.

In short, she will need an active owner who will get her plenty of exercise and even better a job of some sort.

She will need a patient & experienced owner who will work with her to train her for life in a home. You are not getting a well trained dog that knows how to act in a home. She’s very intelligent and will learn quickly however.

Medically she’s in great health but will need dental work since she has ground down all 4 canine teeth more than likely trying to escape kennels in the past.

I will not let her go to just anyone. She deserves a forever home like every retired hero dog does.

Meet Banjo! Banjo is a 4 year old Plott Hound mix weighing about 65 pounds. He is a beautiful boy with his brindle coat and white chest and markings and he has the most expressive face. Banjo is a sweetheart and a fragile soul that likes to be told he is a good boy and he just wants to please. Banjo loves to be active and is a high energy dog. He enjoys walks, hikes, car rides, and playing. Most of all, Banjo enjoys cuddling with his people on the couch. Banjo struggles with confidence and anxiety issues, but has been working on these things with a trainer and will do wonderfully in the right home while continuing his hard work and with an adopter that is knowledgeable with anxious dogs. Banjo is reactive to new situations and he is learning to come out of his shell and be more engaged in the world and not so selective and nervous around strangers. Banjo is also very food motivated! Banjo is well versed in obedience training and knows sit, crawl, down, stay, bed, speak, and roll over. He is muzzle trained, house trained, crate trained, and walks well on a leash. Banjo will not chew on bones or play with toys and his fosters are working on getting him to learn what toys are. Banjo would be best in a home with a single person or couple. Banjo gets along with other dogs when introduced slowly, he will play with them, and could do well in a home with multiple dogs but needs the proper iand slow introduction with an experinced dog owner. Banjo would prefer a home with no children and likes women more than men. Banjo requires a fenced in yard and an active adopter. If you are interested in adopting Banjo, please go to our website at and fill out our adoption application.  show less

🔴 PLEASE NOTE MUST OWN YOUR OWN HOME AND HAVE A FENCED IN YARD🔴 Meet Betty.  Betty is a six-year-old  American Pit Bull Terrier. Betty is the sister and litter mate of Billy who is also featured at Charlie’s Crusaders Pet Rescue.  Betty has been home-raised all her life.  She did go to a new home for nine months but was reclaimed by the original owner and breeder because the new owner failed to provide shelter for her.  Other terms of the puppy contract were also ignored forcing the original owner to take possession of her.  Recently Betty’s owner was diagnosed with Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension making it impossible to care for four dogs.  Betty is a spayed female, current on all her shots including rabies.  Vet records are available.  Betty loves kids and other dogs but is probably too much dog for small children.  She will be a great companion for children eight years and up.  Betty is housebroken.  She loves to go for walks and loves to play with her brother Billy.  She is very friendly and loves attention from visitors and strangers.  She settles down quickly after an initial introduction.  She loves human touch and really loves to cuddle in bed or on the sofa.  She and Billy will be wonderful additions to any family.  Betty and Billy are crate familiar but have rarely been crated.betty and billy are a bonded pair and would like to stay together.
