About Laverne

Adoption Fee: $175.00

Laverne’ is a beautiful, unique, Calico Tortoiseshell kitten born in May 2022.

Laverne is a healthy, active, affectionate and playful kitten! Laverne is energetic and loves to be played with. She also looks forward to cuddling and will fall asleep in your arms.

Laverne and her siblings, Shirley & Squiggy will be ready for placement in their forever homes (by approximately 7/30/22) after recovering from their spay/neuter procedures.

Laverne is up to date on all age appropriate treatments and vaccinations. She is also spayed and microchipped.

If you are interested in pursuing the adoption of Laverne as a single kitten or along with one of her precious siblings, please carefully read the following information.

- PAW’s ‘Cat Adoption Team’ prioritizes applicants interested in adopting young kittens as a pair - there is a discounted adoption donation fee of $140 per kitten when adopted with a littermate or sibling.

- Approved adopters with a resident cat at home are also generally given priority as it is best that very young kittens do not spend too much time alone.

- All submitted applications will be carefully and thoughtfully considered and these kittens can be adopted as a single addition to your home and family!

- Due to the small, fragile size and nature of our younger rescue kittens, PAW’s ‘Cat Adoption Team’ typically discourages their adoption to homes with children under 8 years old.

- The Kitten Adoption Donation Fee is $175.00 for a single kitten.

The first step in our adoption process is to complete PAW’s Cat Adoption Application. PAW’s Cat Adoption Application can be accessed by following this link: http://www.paw-rescue.org/adopt or by using the ‘Adopt’ shortcut found on this kitten’s profile page on PAW’s website: www.paw-rescue.org

If you have questions about Laverne, please contact Natalie at catadoptions@paw-rescue.org

Please Note: Once an adoption application has been approved and selected to move forward with this kitten’s adoption process, you will be contacted to schedule a virtual ‘Meet and Greet’ with the kitten and their foster. Our virtual meet and greets are most often conducted via Zoom or Facetime. Since adopters are unable to meet our rescue cats in person at this time, PAW is honoring a 2-week trial adoption in order to ensure the kitty match you’ve made is a perfect one!

*As an all volunteer organization we do our very best to review and respond to Adoption Applications as well as general Inquiries in a timely fashion. We genuinely appreciate your patience as it can often take several days to a week to complete this process. Benson is an 8-year-old yorkshire terrier mix, weighing in at 10lbs.   He is potty-trained, crate-trained, and good in the house.   Benson loves to be with his people.  He is energetic and playful, loves to play with toys and balls.    He loves to meet new people but has to be properly introduced.  He can be stressed and a little nervous.   He does not like people coming up to him and petting his head or back...would you want strangers doing that?!    Benson is blind in his left eye, so that may be a contributing factor.   Benson loves to go on walks and mark every tree.  He is quite energetic and will even run.  He enjoys sitting on his foster family's deck, in their backyard,  or by the front window and monitor the neighborhood to let you know if dogs walk by!   He does not seem overly fond of other dogs.  On walks he can be a bit barky and even nippy.   For this reason, he would probably do best as the only dog.   He also needs to be in a home with adults only or teenagers 15+, no young kids, and a house or townhouse environment.   Apartment living is not for him.     If you want a little guy who will absolutely adore you, and serve as a body guard,  Benson is the dog for you! PAW places animals in the Washington, DC Metropolitan/Baltimore areas only. show less

***COURTESY POST***** Bobo, an 8 year old, 60 lb., Amstaff is living with his current mom, who says the following about him: Bobo had a very rough first few years of life. I adopted him from a kill shelter where he had been brought after being found chewed up by other dogs in a ditch. He had heartworm and terrible anxiety. Over the last four years that I've had him, he's turned into a whole new dog. He is a low energy dog that enjoys resting around the house and laying with you while you watch tv. His favorite things are being loved and food. He always brings a "present" to greet you when you open the front door whether it's a toy or a pair of underwear. He is quirky and loving and absolutely loves car rides. He holds the leash in his mouth when he's excited to go out for a walk. Bobo enjoys playing tug of war with his stuffed animal lamp chop toys. He gets along great with people and has been exposed to kids from age 5 and up. He enjoys short walks or hikes in areas without other dogs around. He can't walk more than a mile or two at most. He does lunge at dogs when on leash and doesn't get along with other dogs. He knows commands like sit but will usually only comply if a treat is involved. He is housebroken. He is afraid of storms and hides in the bathroom during them. The ideal owner would have a fenced-in backyard with no other dogs or cats. He would do well with someone dog-savvy with patience. It breaks my heart to have to depart with Bobo because I love him more than anything. I just don't have the ability to properly care for him anymore in the way that he deserves. If you are interested in adopting Bobo, please contact his person, Megan, via email or phone: Mejohns166@gmail.com 301-922-4703 show less

Carlos is small, all grey male who was rescued from an outdoor colony nearly a year ago. After being in the shelter for more than 6 months, PAW pulled him and brought him to a foster home where he could decompress and mellow into his true self. We know that Carlos wants attention - when he was in the shelter, he'd meow for someone to come over, but then when they did, he was anxious. He was so anxious that he would scratch himself on his face which left a scar that doesn't seem to want to grow hair back. We know it's from the scratching because he's been thoroughly tested negative for ringworm or other skin aliments and isn't itching anywhere else. He's come out of his shell a bit in the last 6 weeks that he's been in his foster home. He is very food motivated and his foster mom has been using treats to gain his trust. It's important to Carlos' long term happiness that he have a kitty companion or two - he really loves the other animals in the home and their companionship. Carlos uses scratching posts and has had no litterbox issues. He is up to date on his vaccinations, negative for FIV/Felv, and is neutered and microchipped. If you would like to meet Carlos via a Facetime or Zoom video call, as well as ask questions about him, please complete the application here: www.paw-rescue.org/adopt and we will be in touch.
