About Aspen

Adoption Fee: $250

Aspen is a happy and good-natured pup with a beautiful smile. She has the cutest ears that often go in two different directions - one up and one out.  She also has the silkiest, black, shiny coat that sparkles in the sunlight and her golden-brown eyes will "pop" with just the right lighting—makes for very striking good looks.

She is affectionate and gentle, enjoying attention from people of all ages, including children.  She loves attention and getting a daily dose of scratches, pets and belly rubs.  When hanging out with humans, she prefers to be near them but not necessarily on them. She loves relaxing on her dog bed next to her people playing with her favorite toys while her people watch TV.

She also enjoys going on long walks and using her nose to explore. Her ideal family would encourage her to engage in daily nose work and take her on daily strolls. She is good on a leash but will pull if she sees something exciting like a bunny, cat or squirrel scurry by.  She is completely content being left alone as long as she has these daily mental and physical outlets.

Aspen is perfectly fine being the only dog in the household but doesn’t need to be.  She can be choosy about her doggie friends though, so good/slow introductions are key for her to adjust to different energy levels and personalities.

DOB 06/01/2019, Lab mix. As part of Aspen's $250 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Aspen, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org

Abby - The QUEEN - Foster or Adopt

She is the QUEEN... you live in her kingdom... you will do her bidding and abide by her rules!  She will give you all of the love she has and she really enjoys spending time with her people - ONCE SHE GETS TO KNOW YOU!  More often than not, if you are sitting or lying down she will be close by, preferably using you as a pillow.   Laps really do make nice, warm, cozy napping spots. She is the Queen after all... and wants to be treated as such. She is a playful girl.  She still acts like a kitten when it comes to playing and small toys she can swat around seem to be her favorites. When not playing, she enjoys lounging at the top of her cat tree so she can see everything.  She likes to survey her surroundings and see what is going on. So, really, the best of both worlds = playful and chill!   She needs to make sure everything is as it should be in her little kingdom!   Abby needs to be the only cat in the home--she does not get along with dogs or other cats.  She, and she alone, is QUEEN OF THE CASTLE!   She will be a wonderful companion to the person who will commit to loving her and accept her terms. She does well with adults and should be okay with older children who understand to take things on Abby's time.  A little patience goes a long way with her - she may be a bit shy and timid at the first meeting - but once she gets to know you she will be "all in"!  Until she gets to know you and trusts you... she will be standoffish and likely give you the eye.  If you move too fast for her comfort, she will swat at your hand.  Remember... her kingdom, her rules. Abby is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on all shots. For more information and to fill out an application, go to www.pawsforlifenc.org. Foster to adopt option is available. show less

Amelia has a secret admirer who has graciously offered to sponsor 50% of her adoption fee!!! Now she she just needs a family! Is it YOU?   Amelia has the best ears and such beautiful expressions on her gorgeous face!  Don't you agree?  She loves playing and would do great with another playful pup or a day or two at doggie day camp is always fun as well.    She loves going for walks, is curious, eager to please her family, very smart and treat motivated.  She is learning good leash manners but does pull if she sees something that excites her. We use positive reinforcement training, and she is doing great!. It is a great part of her wonderful daily routine. Ameila is a sweetheart; she loves snuggles time with her humans.   She is also content being outside and soaking up all the sunshine.  A fenced yard is required for Amelia; she loves to run, play and burn of energy.  Another dog isn't required for Ameilia; however, a fun, furry sibling to play with would be great fit for this young, playful, happy girl! Her new family will need to make sure they have the appropriate amount of time to spend with he. She loves all kinds of toys, so stock up on a variety for her to play with. Probably not a perfect apartment pup as she will bark when she hears noises outside.   Not only is she dog friendly, she was tested at the shelter and was curious about cats. Her foster kitty sibling has not given Amelia the opportunity to interact. She will chase if they run, and she likely wants to play.  So a family with dog-savvy cats should be ok.  Amelia is also good with kids and lives with 2 little ones in her foster family (2 and 4 year olds).  She knows no stranger and loves everyone she meets. Amelia can be super happy when she sees new dogs or people, and we are working on her exuberance level; sometimes she can hardly contain her excitement to meet you. She may jump and bark, and just know it's all because she is super happy and interested in saying HELLO, I AM HAPPY TO MEET YOU!   When Amelia is tired out from playing she becomes a couch potato, so someone to sit with her and watch, TV, read and relax would be wonderful. She loves spending time with her humans, too!!  She isn't that big, weighing in under 50 lbs so is a good snuggle size. She sleeps in her crate night.    She has really become a road trip fan and loves going on car rides, so don't hesitate to take her with you. DOB 09/27/2021. She is a female  mix. As part of Amelia's $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Amelia, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

Archie really likes being with his people, so if you are looking for a laid-back buddy to chill and hang out with, Archie may be your guy. Archie enjoys hanging out with his human while he works during the day. He also enjoys car rides so don't feel you need to leave him behind; Archie would be happy to go with you!   Archie would be a good fit for an apartment, condo, or townhome since he does not require a fenced in yard. He would just need you to be able to take him out for his daily walks and potty breaks. He has a cute little, happy walk, and you will enjoy the stroll as much as he does! When you are out and about, expect Archie to get a lot of ohhhs & ahhhs as he is a super cute guy. He loves everyone and doesn't know what the word stranger means. He is happy to be fawned over a bit and and get a little extra attention.  Even though he has a little age on him, Archie still enjoys breaks to play fetch or go for short walks.   He has made a great adjustment and is a sweet and easy going fellow. He likes to be near you but not really in your lap. He would probably benefit from someone who is home most of the time. Just some of the benefits of adopting an older dog, house trained, crate trained, walks nicely on a leash; you can expect all these things with Archie. He is on a special diet that needs to be maintained. He is also working on loosing a few pounds.    He has not had an opportunity to be cat or dog tested.   DOB 04/03/2012, As part of Archie’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Archie, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

(DOB 2/2/2023). Due to Bear’s young age, he has not yet been neutered. For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).   Meet Bear, a charming 3-month-old white male husky puppy who is looking for a forever home. He looks like a miniature polar bear with his beautiful, pure white coat and bright brown eyes, and he’s full of energy and loves to play until he drops. He is happy and engaging, and his tail wags endlessly with excitement whenever he meets new people. When he is happy and excited, he has the biggest, brightest smile and his soft pink tongue is ready to give you kisses.    Bear is a social butterfly and loves the company of other dogs. He is looking for a home with a furry canine sibling to play with and share his adventures with. If you have a tall fenced yard, Bear will be in heaven! He loves to explore and run around all day, so a secure area for him to play and be active is a must. Once he's worn out, he's really out. He  always sleeps on his back, with his feet straight up (has since he was born); it's pretty freaking cute.   Bear is still a puppy, so he will need plenty of love, patience, and training. But, in return, you will have an energetic and loving companion who will be loyal to you for life. If you're a family looking for a new furry addition to your home, go ahead and fill out an application to adopt Bear. He's eagerly waiting to meet his new family and start his new life with them!   As part of Bear’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Bear, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. show less

He has a beautiful coat and those eyes! Who can resist?  Casper the Friendly Dog, is looking for a forever gig which allows him to show off his smarts, loyalty, goofiness, and stunning good looks!   He’s a smart fellow, too, and learns quickly. He’s fully house and crate-trained and now working on basic obedience and leash manners with which he’s making amazing progress with positive training, consistency, and patience.   Casper lights up every room he enters and has a great, joyous spirit about him. He loves, loves, loves to play – tug-of-war and any kind of ball – fetch and tether ball, too. He has good energy, although not “over-the-top” and some solid play and run time in the back yard with a long walk or chasing a laser light will get him ready to snuggle with you on the couch and watch TV before he retires to his crate. He sleeps in his crate all night very well but loves to sleep with his human, too, if he gets the chance. He goes into “baby mode” at night and just wants to snuggle and be held.   Casper needs some specific things in a forever home to be safe and happy: an active owner with good dog experience who has the time and patience to spend training a young, strong dog; experience in training using positive techniques; a fenced yard where he can get his play on; to be the only dog would be ideal; and, while his foster parent is a mom, he really responds well to men, so it would be ideal to have a man in the home that would spend time with him and treat him well. He is young and had a hard start in life, so needs love and patience to help him evolve into a perfect dog!   It would be best for Casper to avoid homes with: 1) people of elderly age or children less than 10-12 years old due to his strength and energy level; 2) apartment/condo/close house living – due to his energy and he can be vocal if he sees/hears unusual or new things or noises. (He’s a very good watch dog.)  3) home with cats or other small animals, including small dogs, in the home because he will definitely chase and try to catch them. He does resource guard food, toys, and his crate with other dogs, so just keep that in mind.  He has no guarding with humans at all, over anything. He does best with female dogs of his own size who are confident and who have good doggy social skills, but constant supervision is a must when he’s with other dogs, particularly at first.   DOB 01/07/2022, male Hound/Husky mix.  Of importance, too, he has no signs of being deaf, which can be genetically present in white dogs with blue eyes. Casper is adorable and weighing in at around 48 pounds. As part of Casper's $250 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
